  • Most Canadians have broken out the flip-flops by now, but skiers can still wear their ski boots at Banff Sunshine Village.
    The resort has reopened for some summertime skiing because it still has plenty of snow.
    It's the first time in more than 30 years that it has opened this late in the ski season, and only the second time in the resort's nearly 100 years of operation, with the hope to keep it operating through the Canada Day weekend.
    Heather Yourex-West has more.

    That looks like what is called the WROD. The White Ribbon Of Death. Too many knuckleheads on a few tiny, thinly-covered paths of snow leading to collisions and endless near-misses. I love the thought of getting out to ski in the summer but this would be a big nope from me. I do commend the ski area for doing this and trying to create some magic.

    July 2nd this year I saw the Northern Lights. Northern Lights means cold winter coming in a month. Snow on the ground to stay by September. I have seen snow in Edmonton fall in the last week of August. And a snow blizzard in Edmonton during May Long weekend in 1987

    The climate crisis is about huge differences in weather hence you get snow in summer and 16degrees in the winter (tignes February 2022)

      It's amazing. Global warming can cause the Antarctic ice shelf to both thicken and thin at the same time. There is nothing climate change can't do and no govt intrusion severe and negative enough to try to combat something that happens naturally.

      @Dr Funke Exactly, that kind of ignorance. Good example.

      @Matt-vo1ge 2 года назад

      @Dr Funke so by that rationale someone themselves must be experiencing extreme hunger before pointing out there's a famine? An alcohol specialist shouldn't drink?
      Regardless of your point that it's a grift it doesn't change the fact that we are all headed towards catastrophe. Against that, whether or not you see it as a grift is pretty irrelevant - the consequences of it will be experienced either way.

    • @Matt-vo1ge
      @Matt-vo1ge 2 года назад

      @Dr Funke how does that even work? So, because I use modern technology I'm grifting by signposting people to accessible science on Climate Change so that they can be better informed?
      What do you expect? How would the scientists communicate the issue if not through technology for example? Do you expect rock paintings and word of mouth in order to have legitimacy?

      Mate just look at the world instead of just North America. Here in Europe, we’ve had record heat in early June, 1/2 the snow compared to the year before so even places where you can typically go summer skiing haven’t opened despite being on actual glaciers, yesterday a part of a glacier collapsed due to high heat and killed 6 people. Moving to Asia, they have had record breaking heatwaves there also from Pakistan to India to Japan - we are talking about temps of +/- 50 degrees celsius. In Australia, a country currently in its winter period, they are witnessing extreme floods. And finally, returning to North America, just look at Lake Mead in the Vegas area - there is a severe lack of water.

      I recently saw a report where experts are predicting pretty drastic drops in temperatures in October this year due to climate change. What’s worse, they expect those changes to be more drastic as we get into December, January and February.

    So just wondering there Global. Now it's okay to disregard global warming because this is fun, no worries about the energy or water used to make that snow, that you admitted is melting so the process for making it is constant 🤣 like honestly liberals need to sit down and listen to themselves. This is acceptable but I gotta pay a carbon tax to get to work everyday cause I refuse to pay $70,000 for a EV that was either made in Communist China or a Tesla with a build quality so garbage it makes a $15,000 Honda look like it was a handcrafted gem with high end parts that don't creak or fall apart.
    To top it off my work based life requires a pick-up truck that can go long distances daily and left in yards with no power 🤣 It's like being forced to buy a iPhone so people don't bully me for having a Green bubble. This woke society's dense mentality is the definition of toxic 🤣 don't forget we're going to get a heat wave and told to try and limit our A/C usage so we don't overload the power grid 😮‍💨🤦
