- Featuring a short-range air defense (SHORAD) payload integrated for the first time on a robotic vehicle, this variant of the Tracked Robot 10-ton (TRX) technology demonstrator is the latest innovation within Land Systems’ counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems (c-UAS) family of vehicles. The TRX SHORAD is designed to bring a new dimension of combat power in SHORAD battalions and provides autonomy within a tiered, layered air defense. The modular TRX supports Army objectives for a Robotic Combat Vehicle with a flatbed design that integrates any payload and has a class-leading payload-to-chassis ratio of 1:1.

When do preorders open?
Its small size means it's easier to transport, you can transport more of them, it's easier to conceal or hide, and it can enter areas other platforms can go. Meanwhile it appears to have A LOT of fire power. Being unmanned, it's also technically attritable.

Suggestion: When the system matures do a shot where you shoot down the camera drone, it would be fantastic marketing and is a very compelling shot. Ideally you'd get lucky and have the footage saved high quality on the drone still- I'm sure you can figure out how to make that happen. But even the wireless transmitted feed would be quality enough to be very impressive

Very interesting concept. How does it perform when defending itself against multiple fpv drones? Because any enemy is going to first try to take them out with cheap $5000 fpv drones.
If it's autonomous then it will be fine, but this isn't really meant for FPV drones, but larger drone like the Sahed from Iran
@@unkownnameless2699 no you didn't get my point. First thing someone is going to try to do is take it out using cheap fpv drones. So how good is it at defending itself from such threats especially in a saturation attack.
@@rsKayiira airburst 30mm is still going to kill fpv drones. If it can detect it, it can kill it. Sure, if you throw like 20 drones at it, it will probably be overwhelmed, but have you considered how difficult it would be to coordinate twenty people to all fly drones at one vehicle without colliding with each other and while being shot up? And in such a case, heavy jamming equipment would be used to thin the herd.
@@Shaun_Jones yes when you’re only thinking about the effector. You need a remote weapon station with the right effector as well as quick reaction time to hit drones coming from different directions. Thats why in my initial comment I was saying it needs to designed from the ground up with a modern aps otherwise someone could take it out with 5 $1000 fpv drones attacking it simultaneously

Why are the drones censored?
Don't want to show the effects of the air-burst rounds.
Either hiding the airburst rounds effects, or trying to censor what drones they blew up so the drone company doesn't get mad. Or both, probably both.
@@neoknight9180 Once you buy something, the seller usually doesn't care what you do with it (e.g. shooting cases of Bud Light you already paid for).
Indeed, in this case at least 5 or 6 drones were shot down. That's 5 or 6 sales with the promise of more. Testing costs money.

not a criticism, but sometimes drone attacks include multiple waves to overwhelm air defences, can the system be scalable?
Well SHORAD battalions' AA systems are interoperative and task anti-air duties between themselves. Any system that's compatible with established air defense networking would add to the scalability of this.
is this being added in the next War Thunder Update?

Most likely remote controlled, perhaps with AI assistance. They just let you know the threat, and you pull the trigger.
so why arent these kamikaze fpv drones flying 5-10 feet off the ground at this point to avoid these systems and destroy them?
the robots don't work too good at protecting bases when humans don't determine what is a target and what is a civilian airplane.

The right move is that making the weapon system to be unmanned. Combine with airburst 30mm gun, it can 1 shot a drone which is cost effective too. I think the cost of 1 smart bullet is equal to the cost of drone itself.

General Dynamics Land Systems is a subsidiary of General Dynamics. GD makes things like the M1 Abrams tank, Virginia class nuclear attack submarine, Ohio class ballistic missiles nuclear submarine (and their Columbia class successor). They built the F-16 Fighting Falcon before selling it off to Lockheed Martin.

America needs to build something with better missiles than the STINGER. They don't have enough range for most instances.
It has a longer range than a Strela and the same altitude ceiling as the competitors China could put out.
well they actually do have NASAMs which are essentially just AAMRAAMs bolted on to a surface launcher, then there's also the hellfire which is technically also capable of air to air against helicopter and any low flying slow planes....

@@muleyman68 technically the air defense variant of the stryker should count, it comes with a 30mm autocannon + 7.62 coaxial and a 4 tube stinger launcher and a rack for 2 hellfires.
The US military isn’t a land focused army like Russia is, so it really doesn’t need SPAAG vehicles. Expeditionary armies like the US want air superiority and air support, though with the emergence of cheap drones the military would have to equip the units with something closer range engagements.
And for that I am salty because US SPAA lineup in War Thunder is basically poopy compared to Russian SPAA lineup, they don’t make anything close to a Pansir-S1.

The QN506, which is also a singular prototype, is hardly the first SHORAD variant of an armored vehicle to exist. Considering they all do the same exact thing, appearance similarities are bound to occur.

How much does it cost, and how easy is it to fix with rudimentary means that's often the case on high-intensity battlefields, that's why Western gear is performing poorly in Ukraine, too complex; ending up being inadequate and not useful? We are also seeing now how Patriot launchers are useless because of the cost of ammunition.
You know, I wish American creativity in the defense industry comes back. cool concept but this is sad.. im guessing a slow fire rate cannon? also stinger pods from the mid 1960's? i mean get real. we have a layered air defense system. patriot. aegis thaad and 2 others. costing millions for each missile. How about we get some modern things here folks. we are not fighting dirt farmers anymore. this thing should have a AESA radar constantly and low band search radar coupled with the aim120D'd or develope something else. but we have NASAMS use the radar from it or a smaller version. slap 4 Aim120's maybe a aim9x too?. Because a stinger missle not intercepting targets more then 5km away. and this would be another layer of air defense to our already capable AD network. The cost... money.
