This video was what I needed. I've lost so many games playing as my own brand of Freeze, and before i thought it was just my deck. I learned quickly that it was that I was just getting out played and playing the deck terribly. This has corrected so many of my issues and now I'm winning games that I would have lost.
I dont even play hearthstone, just enough to get the 100 wins to get the cardback mount in hots. Found a face hunter video of yours and ever since then ive been addicted to coming home from work to see a video. Very informative and practical. You sir have earned my subscription.
NOBUNAGA1991 There are some printouts you can find that will help you. They are basically shields you print out and tape over your opponent's board on your monitor. This helps your skill of finding the face more often.

i cant believe how bad ppl that play kezan are... It would be fine to lose if i didnt have to lose to idiots. the way to play kezan vs freeze mage is to save it until you have lethal and then steal the secret. that prevents the mage from playing the 2nd block. sometimes its correct to steal the block earlier if you are scared of dying but stealing a random secret is never good.
UbererSK Noticed that too. I guess some argument could be made for the opponent not realizing to be put against freeze mage yet because the first turns did not reveal too much, though.
UbererSK For all he knew, that secret was Mirror Entity, so he had to get rid of it before he could play another minion. Besides, you assume you're always going to have "Ice Block lethal" at some point or another against Freeze Mage, and then you assume that lethal won't be offset by Kezan's mana cost. That's a lot of assumptions. Maybe you'll be dead before having lethal at all because you didn't use Kezan early enough and lost the potential advantage.
UbererSK I have to agree. I saw a tournament where someone played a Kezan into freeze mage and randomly got ice barrier instead of block, and if he had simply saved Kezan for later he would have had surprise lethal. But it is tempo mage and holding back a card for a situation that might not actually come up because you played too slowly is not really how tempo decks are played. So as bad as it seems to us control players, from their point of view it's probably correct, and lo and behold it wins them games, frustratingly enough.
I replaced Antonidas with Malygos after several experiments. If you manage to reduce Frostbolt & double Ice Lance with Thaurissan or Malygos & double Ice Lance you can do 26 damage in a single turn, and if you cant you have a huge threat on board that is hard to remove and will most likely win you the game next turn anyways.
Freeze Mage is a strange paradox for me. On the one hand, it's great to see a deck that isn't an aggressive rush deck, on the other, every time I cue up against a FM I almost always lose even after I have board control and all the opponent does is stall delay and rely on somewhat unfair things like Ice Block. I never feel like I can adjust my play to be better in the matchup or say "Okay here's what I did wrong so I can change up my play for next time." If your not playing a Warrior or Healbots it can be a struggle matchup.
I am missing a couple of cards, like Bloodmage thalnoss Alexstrasza and archmage antonidas but even without these cards, you can win games at around rank 10. It's abit harder because without Archmage you have a bad lategame so I just threw in a Ysera. You can still do your 2 turn combo to deal 27 damage, maybe 28 depending on what turn it is.
Nice! This is one of my main decks I'm laddering with this month (my own midrange mage deck is seeing much less success). It's very validating to pause each turn and make my own decision and see mostly similar actions from Trump. Still hoping to eventually get to legend with a good freeze mage deck though. One day!
The only real chance is adding in the forgotten torch for a fireball or something. It's good because you usually draw a lot of cards so you could probably get the Roaring Torch
If you watch this video in 2016, remember that now this deck costs 7400 dust because Naxxramas cards can be only crafted, the adventure is not in shop anymore.
Rave7wist What good would that have done? With mage having Fire Blast, Trump's only out was to pretty much draw into Alex and hope his opponent couldn't do 15+ damage the turn after. Playing Antonidas and getting an extra Fireball out of him would have contributed *nothing* towards that goal, and would've been a detriment.
Whenever I have Secrets and Mad Scientists in my deck, it is guaranteed that whatever I change in the opening hand becomes a Secret, and unless they were in my opening hand I will never see the Mad Scientists ever again.
I took out on acolyte for another loot hoarder to help deal with cancer decks. that extra dmg is quite nice. Then I took out antonidas for Malygos. more surprise burst and generally more reliable kills in the late game. Also larger burst to deal with Warrior armor.
Or you get a minion (alex, thaur, antonidos) to stick around by freeze and get in some extra damage like that and continue to freeze while burning them with spells at the same time.
VeryCuteGM Its funny that people will bitch so loudly about a Face Hunter, but there is hardly any uproar against the decks that take 3 times as long to lose/win against you because all they do is look to stall the game. Stall decks are the most annoying.
FunkyKillerJim I strongly disagree. I much rather die turn 5 than die on turn 50. If I lose or win against a face hunter, its over and done. But if I lose or win against a freeze mage or other stall deck, its a long and drawn out battle that over stays its welcome by turn 6.
A1phaz0ne It works both ways. It takes freeze mages longer to win matches thus makes it longer to climb ladder ! My matches on average 20 turns or even more to win.

How is this deck after whispers of the old gods? Winning vs cthuns and control is ok but the hyoer aggro face shaman and evolve shaman and the zoolock are just egh... is this deck any decent now? If i dont have torch should i craft antonidas and just use the classic old list?
My freeze mage runs two loot hoarder because I don't have Thalnos and Malygos because I don't have Antonidas. I actually really enjoy how it works out most of the time, as if Malygos survives a turn I often don't strictly need Alexstrasza to win.
i believe pyro but i call bullshit on alex, there is almost no way u can deal 30 dmg against any decck with any survability, thats the true, if u can deal the damage then u are no really playing frezze mage, ur minions practically never attack so i dont see how thats posible
gaby71190 Although the deck is definitely more inconsistent and unviable than the regular version at high ranks, it kind of works lower down. The combo he mentioned is actually a 30 damage OTK.

I'm a little confused. In each teaching video, the amount of Dust required is displayed. That's super helpful. But crafting cards only costs Dust. What is the Gold number for? Is it how much Gold you'd need to spend on branches of the Solo Adventures?

I have made the OPest deck ever. I just put in random cards in a hunter deck. Winning Condition 1: the game lasts 16 rounds. Winnimg condition 2: i go second and the game lasts 15 rounds. It also works with mage, but i am to lazy to put the arrow on the enemy face every turn.
Fiiischinator Arent there any deck versions wich only run one iceblock? dont know maybe its another deck but I think strifecro runs freeze mage with only one iceblock
Draconys I can't imagine it working well. It's a deck that needs at least 2 turns to kill the opponent after all so one is needed most of the time, and also the scientists.

The Ice Lances and Mad Scientists are no longer available in standard, but this deck is still pretty good regardless. Use Arcanologist instead of Scientist, and there really is no replacement for ice lance, but I s'pose you could use babbling book or primal glyph.
its not possible to have both iceblocks up you cant play the other one and the scientist wont play it either if he dies when you already have one iceblock up

Freeze mage the one deck besides handlock I get impatient when I attempt to play.

If you can't even afford one of the epic key cards, you really should't even consider playing it.
Fiiischinator Arent there any deck versions wich only run one iceblock? dont know maybe its another deck but I think strifecro runs freeze mage with only one iceblock
Draconys I can't imagine it working well. It's a deck that needs at least 2 turns to kill the opponent after all so one is needed most of the time, and also the scientists.
Fiiischinator i just miss the second "ice Block" from all deck, but i guess you right, ill have 2 wait till i get the other one to run a good freeze loadout.

The Ice Lances and Mad Scientists are no longer available in standard, but this deck is still pretty good regardless. Use Arcanologist instead of Scientist, and there really is no replacement for ice lance, but I s'pose you could use babbling book or primal glyph.

If you have two ice blocks do they both trigger at the same time when you get fatally hit?
its not possible to have both iceblocks up you cant play the other one and the scientist wont play it either if he dies when you already have one iceblock up
