I remember seeing this and how exciting to see a Wonder Woman on tv when I was a little girl. I've been a fan ever since of Cathy Lee Crosby. Wonder Woman has incarnated in so many ways and each has a good story to tell. Love the Lynda Carter and now I got to see the new Wonder Woman movie with Gal Gadot has exceeding my expectation. The Amazons are grateful :)
Some facts to consider: The Crosby series based its look of the Wonder Woman at the time when the original WW comic character was going through a phase of WW/Diana Prince following an era of modern pop fashion mixed with the martial arts movement called 'mod karate era' (1968-1973). There was a complete revamp of WW at this time, even the first (DC Comics) cover during the changeover has the original WW handing over her traditional red, gold and blue costume in favour of her new look. Cathy was playing the ORIGINAL character, but not in her original outfit. The makers of that series wanted Cathy to wear the traditional look but DC Comics refused them, saying the series had to reflect the new image and character of WW in the current comics (they obviously thought at the time that the red, blue, gold costume was old fashioned and from now on, this is how WW would look indefinitely). Diana Prince effectively became an Emma Peel type persona and when things got particularly tough, she transformed into that KarateGi suit during the martial arts trend, eg. Bruce Lee films. the course of things is curious and capricious, sometimes the scriptwriters of movies, series and TV channels make decisions thinking about what the public will like, and then the reaction of the audience is totally opposite and contrary to the decision that the filmmakers, series and TV took, ironies of life then!
When I first saw this without any hype or influences I thought Cathy did a fantastic believable performance as Diana. I believed she was Wonder Woman and I took this as an alternate interpretation/ or alternate Universe where her identity was public and costume and hair were different from the comics. Although not appearing to be super-powered with bullet deflecting bracelets she performed like Batman with Olympic level skills and wits. She did have her own unique theme, but it was interesting to have this retro Lynda Carter version that we all know so well.
I will say this, The Cathy Lee Crosby’s version of Wonder Woman had some good ideas 💡, and The main villain 🦹♂️ was a Good actor and I would’ve enjoyed seeing him as the villain 🦹♂️ in the classic series

As for Cathy Lee Crosby, she wanted to dye her hair black, but the studio would not let her, they claimed it was a matter of rights on the carachter. Anyway, I'm eternally grateful to this first movie. Thanks to Cathy Lee, there came all the rest. And Lynda Carter was also casted for this movie. I guess she must be thankful for not being chosen for the part. The rest is history. And God bless Cathy Lee Crosby too
I watched this movie when I was I kid, I have been a comic book collector all my life, that being said, this version of Wonder Woman is like when you read a book and then you watch the movie based on the book, and is a total heresy, it's so far off from the original comic book that I got really disappointed, maybe for some people that never follow the comic book is an okay spy movie but for the comic book fans it's terrible, an insult to Charles Moulton.

That was cheap move the film production did on Wonder Woman. I know comic book fans felt pretty ripped off by it at time. She showed no super powers at all. She acted move like a secret agent the a superhero. She certainly didn't looked like the DC comics superheroine I grew up with.

Just like Adam West is the only original Batman. no woman plays a awesome original wonder woman then Lynda Carter. however the new wonder woman is promising and has Lynda Carter's characteristics that's why the movie is so successful.

Well, you are wrong. Linda Carter was NOT the "original" WW. Cathy Lee played it first. But LC played her best and it is LC when we think of WW. She was the best.
