To answer your question, fans of musical theater are very aware this is a 2 part movie and have known this for some time. It ends after Act 1 of the musical. Act 2 is Wicked Part 2.
Also still surprised how much they’re going to add into the second movie then consider the runtime of the first movie nearly matches the entire musical
What I hate about all this argument of 'musicals haven't been doing well in recent years' is it's completely down to the marketing but also the world we lived in even early last year we were still sceptical due to the pandemic. Studios assumed we would know and want to see these musicals but the musicals on Broadway themselves weren't even that big compared to Wicked, Phantom, Les Mis. The mean girls musical hasn't even been performed outside of the states so not marketing as a musical was weird it's can't rely on just name recognition if people dont know. In the heights is famous but to the general public it's not, if anything the smaller musicals and shows that turn into movies should advertise it's a musical more.
Insane right?! In the musical there are two acts so I’m assuming the movie will split right when Act one is done, but that means they’re probably adding quite a bit to it since the movie is about the entire length of the musical
Have you read the book?!?! Have you seen the musical? Wicked the book, took me twice as long to read as any of those books...it is complicated, and building, and about growth... all things that take time.❤ im going first chance I have🎉
I haven’t read the book but I did see the musical when it was touring. I’ve heard from my friends who have read and they did say a lot happens in the boo, but a lot of it was telling and not showing, so I’m curious how they’ll reform all of that into the movie
@bend316 nope not invited.. nor do i know if you were ... when I do see it, I will post. I'm with the common folks ...I'm here to enjoy a book and musical again
What do you think about Wicked marketing their musical AS a musical? And do you know Wicked is being split into 2 different parts? Let me know here!

Oh yes I should have more worded it to be the general public, not necessarily fans of the musical already

That’s a fair observation that is great to point out!
I know it's 2 parts because I am a huge musical theatre fan and know they are splitting it up Act 1 and Act 2. I am excited to watch!
Oh nice! I'm very curious how they're going to stretch this first movie out, but we'll see in a couple of weeks!
I didn’t even know it was going to be split! I’ll be interested to see how they decide to split it

Well in the advertising they keep saying the first movie is a complete experience on its own.
@@OscarHernandez-dj3yv I’ve been burned by too much marketing in the past so I’m gonna take that with a grain of salt lol
@bend316 completely fair. We will have to wait and see
@@OscarHernandez-dj3yv 100%! We'll see!
Wicked came out on October 30, 2003, not 2008 :).
Ah my mind always goes back to around 2008 because that’s when it was touring and that’s when I saw it
@mrbroadwaydork I graduated in 2007 and did Macy's thanksgiving day sophomore year, the cast was the fall 2004... they were amazing!
Musical got a bad name because of Cats and Joker 2.
Joker was very recent so I don’t know about that but yeah cats was a massive misfire pre-pandemic. Doubt even if they hid that it would have done well

@bend316 I'm interested too, I cannot wait for the character development. It just makes sense for this to be 2 parts.
@@katiehanson6253 We'll see soon! Are you going to see it opening weekend? I am with Gladiator 2.
