Two thoughts 1) Why is India becoming like South Korea? SAMSUNG OR LG there...here it is Tata or Reliance or Adani? Why are we letting Tata become too big to fail? 2.) Semiconductors will NOT be the next IT revolution for India.. Seriously, this is also not a big labor intensive industey. We are atleast 20 years behind in Electronics and semiconductors, when compared to East Asia or Europe or US.

Semiconductor made in India will be used in your cars, banks, phones, laptop, ATM, Aeroplanes, Drones, Medical machines. If not used in India, they can export. I know Semiconductor factory is capital intensive and needs accurate architecture and design technology but India needs to learn new skills which current education does not provide. So don't worry.

Unless there is some wacky Gujjunomics at play, what Prof. Aswath says holds good and should change your view. I have seen several facilities of Swmiconductors, and I feel the same as well. even after recent government support
India has a shortage of 300,000 engineer and 100,000 skilled technician who have knowledge in semi conductors industry for next 5-6 years
in short, those companies will only run at 20% capacity for 5-6 years, if they don't do collaboration with other country
