    Would be nice to see a re-issue of the Cobain Mustang replicas they did about 10 years ago. Played it in a guitar store once and it sounded amazing, way better than the Jaguar replica and the build quality was fantastic.

    I bought a left-handed JagStang and play it upside down. I figured it was a fitting tribute to Kurt and how he played many of his early guitars upside down (mostly out of necessity lol) 🤘🏼

    There are only these distinct modes:
    1. Bridge only (bridge pickup switch either LEFT or RIGHT; neck pickup switch MIDDLE)
    2. Neck only (neck pickup switch either LEFT or RIGHT; bridge pickup switch MIDDLE)
    3. Both pickups in phase (both pickup switches facing the same direction, either LEFT or RIGHT)
    4. Both pickups out of phase (the pickup switches are in opposite positions [no matter if they face the middle or the outer edges])
    5. No pickups on (both switches in their middle positions).

    • @abdelkaderelbrazi
      @abdelkaderelbrazi 2 года назад +2

      Small correction.
      In mode #3, it DOES MATTER if you move both pickup switches to LEFT or RIGHT. It will give you two different sounds. I thought it didn't matter which way you move them, as long as they are both in phase, but my ears have proved me wrong.
      At least, that's how it works on my Mustang. The Jagstang uses the same pickup setup so I assume that it works the same way.

    Oh wow yeah I remember Kurt's tasty " Blues Licks" and his Blues inspired playing. I'm so glad this reviewer didn't demonstrate what this guitar sounded like covering Grunge or Garage Rock which we all know Kurt hated, he was a Blues Man and often sited Joe Blow Bono.ossa and SRV as his primary influences. I only wish this reviewer would have demonstrated some Nashvle Country " licks" on this guitar I can definitely see Marty Stuart or Brad Paisley using this guitar can't you ? Nothing like hearing some bland Blues Licks by a reviewer in fact the only thing better is going to Guotar Center and listening to some Dad blasting Blues Runs on an Ibanez Shred Machine at ear splitting levels however since that is so rare and hardly ever happens tune in to this Schmo

    Nice guitar and the playing fit the voicing of the guitar. I had a couple duo Sonics but then switched to mustang's because the offset is a tad further towards the rear and fit my playing style better. Haven't tried a jag. I'd like to try one of these. Would need to be a hardtail because I'm anti-trem.

  • @andrewlorenzlong
    @andrewlorenzlong Год назад +1

    Maybe I'm misinterpreting y'all, but...
    "It hasn't been seen since 1993"
    This is the 3rd production run of this guitar.
    "It came out in 1993"
    Not to the public. That's when Kurt got his. The rest of us wouldn't get one until years later. Japanese production started in latter half of 95, with most deliveries happening in early 96.
    Also - this gets left out of many of the reviews, but these (at least in the 90s) come with a whammy bar, which was to claw back some of the Jaguar style versatility to it so you could play power chords but also some My Bloody Valentine or Dinosaur Jr. etc. It's loose fitting so a lot of them have been lost on the used market.

    Those weren't Kurt's favorite guitars. They were the only affordable and readily available left handed Fenders. That's why he played Jaguars and Mustangs.

    • @panagiotisatsalis9321
      @panagiotisatsalis9321 3 года назад

      A mustang and a jaguar are much more expensive than a strat or a tele

    • @meadish
      @meadish 3 года назад +2

      @@panagiotisatsalis9321 Newly produced Mustangs were cheap compared to Fender's other offerings - they were intended as Fender's line of affordable student guitars.
      Jazzmasters were intended as flagship guitars - top of the line - when they were introduced, but they did not appeal to the intended audience of jazz guitarists. Instead, some surf rockers used them. After feedback on improvements mainly from surf rockers, Fender introduced the Jaguar, also intended as a premium guitar. They had limited success among surf rockers but not much with others - Strats were cheaper and seen by most as more desirable.
      Comparatively few successful artists in the 1970s and 1980s played Jazzmasters or Jaguars, Elvis Costello being an exception in the 1970s. Some New Wave and punk bands used them in the 1980s (The Cure, Sonic Youth), but they were pretty rare.
      In the middle to late 1980s during the era of hair metal and shred, vintage offset guitars like Jaguars and Jazzmasters had fallen completely out of fashion among mainstream guitarists. This is when many alternative artists bought them in pawnshops. It made sense - they were inexpensive, but still better quality than most import guitars, and to most people they looked quirky, which fit the outsider image.
      After the alternative scene broke into the mainstream in the very late 80s/early 1990s, offset guitars became attractive again, and have never really been out of fashion again.
