Ren is stronger than I could ever be. You know he didn’t always think the words he was singing. Those weren’t words describing what he thought. Those were words he repeated to himself over and over so he could survive. The strength of will and character that takes is nothing short of heroic. I mean he held on saving what money he could get people to donate to him through things like what you just watch ed to go to a doctor, often times some specialist only to be misdiagnosed, getting meds to help only to have them not help and often times make him feel worse than before. Rinse and repeat for nearly 10 years starting at about age 19 I think. Oh yea, when he got bitten by the tick and got Lyme disease… he was working with a producer who worked for Sony making an album. It of course fell through as Ren was too ill to finish it. I’m not that strong, I’d have either ended myself or given up and probably died from the disease. Ren is special.
Just a little backstory to this clip: This was released as part of a documentary about ME (chronic fatigue syndrome). He did not know it at the time this was made, that the ME was a misdiagnosis. He'd proceed to spend several years essentially homebound, until he would, mostly by examining his symptoms, internet searches, etc., begin to suspect that he had Lyme disease. In knowing the back story, you discover what a strong guy he is.
This one gets me every time. But yes it’s a very powerful message of hope coming from someone in his position at this time. He was misdiagnosed with M.E. Which ended up being Lymes disease.
I’ve gone back and listened to this song, numerous times, probably one of my personal favorites, it just gives you the strength in knowing how strong you truly are even at your lowest points and invites you to never give up on yourself, no matter how hard it gets, ❤
This became one of my favorite songs. I love everything about it. Sue and I performed a bit of it in the intro to For Joe. It’s such a great tribute to the loved ones we’ve lost.
I have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). I heard Ren's song Patience at the same time that the film Unrest was being made. The song and some of Ren's video blog was used in the film. I was encouraged to be part of the #MillionsMissing protests. I appreciate Ren's music because he understands what it is like to be bedridden and/or housebound, dealing with pain and little energy. His music helps raise awareness of what it is like to experience Energy Limiting Chronic Illness and helps me personally cope with my own disability..
@@susanellis5832 In Australia we have outdated guidelines for ME/CFS that are based on flawed science. I don't think I have been properly investigated even though many specialists have confirmed the diagnosis. I do appear to experience Post Exertional Malaise where my health can deteriorate one to two days after being active. I have also had a bulls eye rash which you get after a tick bite but most doctors in Australia do not acknowledge Lyme Disease so this also has not been investigated. I have had this illness for over forty years and on the whole feel neglected and left to fend for myself. Having an energy impairment impacts all aspects of your life.
Thanks for sharing. Ticks bites are super common here in the Northeast US. In 2017, I found out I had stage 3 Lyme’s after I went undiagnosed for I don’t know how long. My wife just got bit this passed week. Her second time. The doctor just gave her doxycycline. It is so routine here. You get bit and they put you on doxy for a couple days and they say you’re good. I don’t think they really know how to treat Lyme’s. They just throw a bunch of antibiotics at it and hope for the best. But Lyme’s seems very complicated with lots of variables. I’m no doctor though.
Hands Down Ren for the Win. My absolute official favorite performer on the face of the planet. Never in my life have I experienced music like what you are creating on the regular........this guy is RIGHT on Time, both musically, and Spiritually. Cannot wait to see what's around the bend for such a talented soul. Blessed Be Ren Fren! ~Frogsprings
I thoroughly enjoy watching you experience and enjoy Rens songs. Would love for you to see Power which seems a bit upbeat too. "Everybody drops" and "Diazepam" are two different yet hipnotic songs altogether.
Thank you for watching! We appreciate it. We’re having so much fun doing this. It’s been so great to go on a journey into a new artist with the guidance of people who already know and love the music. Thanks for the suggestions. They’re added to the list.
Justin Hawkins, who also does song reactions, had a live 1.75 hour interview with Ren in which he talked a good bit about his life. He talked about how before the Lyme disease diagnosis and then after it, Ren had been trying more and more different things to fix himself. Some of those things even being a bit new agey or not so scientific. He was just desperate to find stability and absence of pain in his life. So the talk at the beginning of this video is probably about his trying different treatments one after another with little improvement.
I saw the thumbnail for Justin’s interview but haven’t watched it yet. I’ll get to it. I’m doing a lot of nothing these days. I think you make a good point about Ren trying different treatments.
This sadly was another misdiagnosis, a symptom yes, but not the cause. Lyme was the cause as many of you know. It tears at the heart to see this young man suffer.
Hi my friends love ren when you get time have a look at marcelito pomoy the prayer live on the wish bus awesome many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍

Ohhh. I see. Thanks for the info. We knew fragments of this, but you put it all together. That’s such a crazy story.
So strong!
@@secondhandreactions he also has Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. All of these stem from the Lyme

there is an old quote “Not by age but by disposition is wisdom acquired” that sums up Ren I think.

What a great track with such an important message!
Yea another great one
This one is heart breaking, to see such a talented, courageous and brilliant performer and artist.

@@susanhall5514I am so hoping you can find some relief and maybe some answers.
I love this song. I love all his songs...:) He's seriously an addiction....
This was 2015 he did not have MED he found out a year later that it was Lymes

ME/CFS- myalgic encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Ren was diagnosed, or misdiagnosed, before they discovered he had Lyme Disease.
Thank you for this comment. You’re all helping us put his story together.
Thank you
