My journal, my money that bought my journal, and I can decorate it how I want and do whatever I want to with it. If you don’t like it, go away. Bahaha ahhhh!!!! The freedom that comes with age. Love it and I LOVE YOUR JOURNAL.
I’m 48 and years ago was under alot of stress. I had heard of the Wreck this journal and decided to do it. It relieved so much stress and gave me something fun to do. I still do them. You’re never to old to create. I love your journal!
I have one and I was so caught up in the rules of wreck this journal lol. Even though is about not following rules really! Nice to see people doing what they want.
Ah, what a sheltered life some people lead, that they make hateful comments about a journal. I love your journal and you're right, it's yours, do what you want. That was my original hang up when I started journaling was thinking to myself, "It has to be this way", or, "it has to be perfect." It doesn't. However it goes, that's what it is for you. I think yours looks great and I love your busy hands journals. I love busy journals and colorful journals and even messy journals. Besides, these days we need some color and busy in our lives.
Thank you!! I discovered art prompt journals just this year and I had a few so-called "friends" tell me I was "too old" for such things. I'll be 33 6/15 and I don't think you're EVER "too old" for anything that makes you smile and brings some fun into your life. I have an amazing husband by my side and I'm so thankful for him every day. I lost my dad 12/9/14, my mom 8/11/15 & then my little brother took his life on 12/15/17. My husband has been a rock for me like no one else ever has. He supports me, encourages me and stands by me in every way. I have just thrown myself into my family... My kids and my husband. I don't like judging people and there's so many out there who do. So, I eliminated a LOT of people from my life that wasn't bringing me positivity, peace, love and happiness into the life of myself and my family. I battle depression, anxiety and PTSD and art journals helps me in ways that a paid therapist couldn't do. My husband brings me peace where there's chaos and my kids fill my world with beauty when the world just shows me ugliness. For all RUclips creators such as yourself, you show others that it's okay to step away from what society has said that adult women are supposed to act, look and generally, be. I lost myself during my 1st marriage when the "man" who was supposed to love me brought pain and suffering to my life. When I left him, my kids and I went to therapy. I was diagnosed with PTSD and thankfully, my kids have very few emotional scars. I have broken through so many barriers and seeing so many women stand up and just be who they are and break free of the proverbial chains that society has placed on all of us, gives me such inspiration to do the same. With such a supportive and loving man by my side, I'm slowly gaining me back. Thanks again, for using your platform for inspiration, goodness and beauty. You have no idea how you, and creators like you, can and have changed someone's life in many positive ways.
Thank you for the message, Melissa. Your encouragement is appreciated and your positivity despite difficulties is inspiring. Please take care and keep creating what makes YOU happy!
The more I listen to you talk, the more I can RELATE. Everything you talk about is relevant and appreciate all the background info and reasons behind who what why where I LOVE listening to you. New sub love from another side of the world
Would LOVE a flip through of your Wreck this Journal! I am in my 40s, have a few of Keri Smith’s wreck this type of books and love working in them. Your ideas are wonderful!!!
I have a "Wreck This Journal" somewhere. I forgot about it! I haven't finished mine, but some pages that I completed, I twisted the instructions. For example, instead of dropping the journal from a distance, I could stand over it and drop ink drops down on the journal. I absolutely love yours!
Your wreck this journal inspired me to get one. I am with you, it's my book, I will do what I want with it. If someone wants to gatekeep them, they are the ones with issues not us. Several of the prompts are things that I may not be able to do due to disability issues, some of them are not happening (like your not giving away a page, lol) and some are a no go now (I am not putting anything non food related in my mouth especially with COVID) so I am doing my own thing. If someone doesn't like it, they can go someplace with that.
I absolutely love wreck this journal. I have a few of them. My grandkids and I work on them together sometimes. Your right, you can do whatever you want. It’s yours and that’s what it’s all about. Honestly it’s nice to see another adult working in one. Mine is pretty darn chunky to. Yours is awesome.
Ooo, ooo, ooo, you gotta do the index card challenge. I’ve been thinking about doing that with my students. You really really have to do the index card a day. And they even have the index card boxes to hold them. I gotta come back and share with you this super cool way of binding single pages. Since Amazon is my only way of shopping I get tons of boxes, so I am cutting the cardboard to make them into journals, using the cardboard as my pages. I love how you inspire us to just make art with reckless abandon. I seriously can’t even begin thanking you for helping me get over my perfectionism in some ways. Now I gotta look up those wreck journals. I’ve seen them before, but I never knew what to do with them.
Hi Melanie, I was just looking at Wreck this Journals on Amazon and wondering if I should get one : ) I enjoyed seeing your take on it. I didn't end up getting one, but I am making up my own to do with a friend. I have 98 prompts written down so far, lol, plus I have a blank journal, so it's a DIY Wreck this Journal. : )
I absolutely LOVE this journal and your Wreck it Journal - both stuffed with all kinds of goodness. I have a Wreck it Journal somewhere I bought but never used. Am on the hunt for it now. Thank you so much. Your style is right up my alley - very inspirational.
Melanie - I have been following your channel for around a year now, but I don’t think I have ever commented. I was smitten from the first video! I love your journals, your stitching and your organization. And I am in the group of people who plays your videos when I am crafting - although I tend to get distracted with watching and forget to finish what I am working on! I wish we could meet for tea and stitching - I think it would be so fun to ask you all the questions I think of when watching your videos! LOL! Thank you for being you! And please! - I would love to see a flip through of this journal, 😀😀😀
I LOVE LOVE LOVE what you did to this journal. I am new to journaling and trying to find my way and this so inspired me, I had to pause your video to order the book. I can't wait to get started. And you are so right about "your journal, your rules". Most of the suggestions in these kinds of books are just guidelines anyway..for those that need the prompting (like me). Once you got the creative bug...go for it in whatever way you see fit. To me, true art has no rules.
This is a great journal. This is my 1st time at seeing one of these types. I must have a go at doing one myself. And you are right, it's your journal you can do with it what you want. Good on you. 💖🙏🙋♀️
Melanie I love the final result of your Wreckit journal, you’re so creative. I’d love to see how you do the original Kerri smith one. It really tests your artistic side. Xxxxxxxx
OH MY GOODNESS!!! So FUN. love your busy hands and Wreck this Journal. I had purchased a WTJ years ago and got rid of it after it sat on the shelf for years. THIS IS A Game changer!!! and comes in colors?!?!?! Off to Subscribe and watch more!! Mine will be here tomorrow....gotta love Amazon LOL
I have just bought myself one of these books the old style lol and i won't be following the instructions to a tee, i will do my own thing as i want my kids and grandkids to be able to enjoy looking through it after im gone. I love your journal its awesome.
My journal is very much like this. I intend to put a mix of art in it and random things. So far I have paper and tags from christmas, a receipt and tissue paper from sandwiches we had as a takeaway. But then also a drawing I did. I love the freedom of putting in it whatever I fancy.
oh, yes PLEASE do a flip through. this is the first video of yours I’ve seen and I’m so inspired!!! ur tab ideas r FABULOUS! I am so gonna “scrap-lift” that idea. about 6 or 8 years ago I bought the (non color) book and started it then turned around and bought another one for my granddaughter, and we had a lot of fun with that even tho we didn’t finish. but this is like wreck this journal on steroids! u are so creative and have done such a wonderful job on this book. thanks for sharing!
Hello, Melanie! New friend here - glad I found your channel! Love your eclectic journals. I bought my nephew a wreck-this-journal back when in was in junior high I think - he's pre-med now. Chuckle. Love your idea of making the "adult version". Please do a flip throught! I did the "100 Project" 2020. I did a nature journal page and video every day! Wow! Can't believe I made it all the way through! I made more nature journal videos afterwards and then went back to some junk journals that I started before that. Blessings & Bubbles...oooOOO
You have a lot of pages in your junk book that you rule it is yours. You have given me an idea to apply for a junk book for myself. I did do a junk book years ago similar with the scratch this, draw from circle to circle. I was happy back then it could be thrown but now I will do a junk book . A lady gave me a lot of lace, and material. I have saved you and added you. Call me Grandma. ha.ha. I love doing albums. anything that pertains happiness.
Love this...I just bought 2 for my 13 yo daughter and I to do together..we both love different types of art and crafts...im hoping this will give us a medium we will love together! Thank you!!
I could listen to you for 23 hours Melanie...don’t worry about it....seriously I am at my desk working on a journal listening to you and enjoying each minute...nice to chill at the end of the day with a like minded lady...
I just watched Lizzi Brewers channel and she is doing a show called slow stitching. And now I see you doing the sewing in your journal. I am inspired by you!! ❤️ 💯
Thank you for sharing! We homeschool and I like the idea of using a different language, I think I might try it with my oldest for his homeschool Spanish journal to make it more fun! ❤️
Melanie, I'm new to junk journaling and this Wreck It Journal is WAY COOL! and I love how you just own that puppy - it's my journal and I'll do what I want with it! Good on you girlfriend! :-) This video has been very inspiring! I've subscribed to your channel and will be watching more of your videos as the days go by. God bless you!
Your Journal is Wonderful Melanie!!! I Love the Structural Stability of this!! Stuff it Full of Anything and Everything We Choose! I would personally draw a line through the Instruction page, replace with the word Create and Simply Have FUN! Haha! Your handmade journal is Soo Pretty~I Love how you did the Spine so you can flip it around! Wow! Thank you for sharing your Creative Works of Art! ❤👭😊
Looks like a gorgeous glue book to me. I'm in love with making glue books these days, but have yet to get as "busy" in it. I guess I'm just too new to this and find it stressful if I have to start covering things I like and then waste time stressing over how to make it work instead of relaxing and just gluing. I do, however, love the tabs with danglies and need to start using up the ones I have accumulated. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Melanie. This was the best 40 mins of my day so far. Never knew about wreck this journal, but am captivated by what you've done with yours. Now going to view the flip through. Yeah. Love Trillsxx
How fun is this!? I'm going to order a Wreck This Journal. But I'm not going to wait for it to come to start working with what I have. So many wonderful ideas. thank you.
Great idea! There are so many things I learned from working in the WTJ that I can use in my other journals. It's a great way to explore and experiment without pressure! Enjoy!
Ramble on my crafty friend. Normally I can't get through these types of videos, even with fast forwarding through the majority of it. But your rambling was entertaining and informative and on topic, rather than repeating yourself or getting off on topics other than the subject matter. I subscribed and I'm going through your videos one by one. Thank you for taking the time to share your process and ideas. Looking forward to more.
This is soo inspiring! Im thinking of doing one myself i bought these for my twins a few years ago they were excited to recieve them but barely did anything with them, i might just grab one of theirs n make a textile version 😊
Loved this. I did December daily this past Christmas and loved the chunky feel of it, so am continuing on with this throw it in and enjoy. I like the sound of the index card a day on Instagram and wrap up once a week. If you decide to do I will do it too. I couldn't film every day for 100. I was worn out after 24 days of filming December daily. Thank you for all your lovely ideas. Keep safe x Catherine 🤗
I am fascinated with your Wreck This Journal!!!!! I hope that you do a flip. I love chunky and tabs. You are so right about this being your journal. That is why I love junk journals; no rules. Thanks for making videos for us to enjoy. I hope you do post on Instagram if you choose to do a challenge.
This looks interesting so......went to Amazon and ordered a book for my grandson and one for me!....the two of us will really have fun!...thank you for sharing your wreck it journal!
I just discovered you, and subscribed. I just ordered two of the Wreck this Journals. Can't wait to wreck them. Love your journals!! Your handmade one is really beautiful.
Ohmygod! Chunky yumminess alert!!! 😲🤩🤗 I would definitely love to see a complete flipthrough of it! And of course, the one you made is exquisite, so I can't wait to see what you create in that one too!! Thank you so much for continuing to delight and inspire us, Melanie!! You rock my creative world! 😄😂 Big hugs and much love ♡♡♡
Ah...the expired rabies tags....I saved mine as well but now I know what to do with them!!! Love junk journaling but never thought to add beads and tags to the tabs!!! Thank you for the inspiration! ❤️
Love your Wreck This Journal!💕 I actually got that color version for Christmas from my sister, and seeing yours has inspired me to break into it! I really enjoy your videos! Yes...please do a flip thru!👍🏼😉
I saw that book at Half Price Books, but didn't buy it. I was looking for something else at the time and limiting myself, I was only going to buy one book to take home. The prompts inside are to be treasured -- the blank page stares up at me and causes brain-freeze. smile! I create a positivity journal and since I use a hairband to keep my journal closed, I went through having the tabs on the side, which bent them. At the moment, I have round tabs at the top. I like your idea of the charms hanging from the tabs, but don't know how that would work at the top of my journal. Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker, used to have a 30-Day-Coloring Challenge. I don't know whether she still does it or not, but I followed along with that a couple of times. That was really fun! I also completed Marsha Baker's 365-Day-Doodling Challenge last year. I doodled little images in a 1 1/2 inch square and glued them to the edges of my positivity journal. As a person with ADD, it made me feel so good that I actually completed a year long project!!! I'm creating coloring index cards with memory verses at the moment for church to hand out to everyone in the congregation. My pastor asked me to create them to go with his sermons. I figured out that if I do one a week, that's only 52 cards. I have a shorts video that the guy in the sound booth linked into for the powerpoint to show everyone how to display them. In addition, I'm making prayer cards at the bottom of the hand-out sheet, so I've been on the hunt for black and white technique ideas. I may have to case a couple of your page ideas for a couple of blank art journaling pages I have to do. I will credit you, okay? I love the fabric strips and your button page.
I have 3 WTJ books and when I didn't want to work in my personal journals I grabbed those. Only thing I never did was like take it in shower, drag in dirt whatever lol. I just don't like those kinds of prompts but my 13 yr old did! TFS!
To get myself used to junk journaling I used the original Wreck This Journal and had so much fun. My husband was shocked when he asked me about the title while we were at the beach and I said "You can do this with it..." and I flung it across the sand! But, I lost it for a few years and it just turned up again. I need to finish it and make it more chunky and colorful like yours! P.S. I dropped mine off the balcony of the hotel during the same beach trip. I kind of smooshed a palm leaf when I did it. Oops.
Great story! My husband has actually had fun helping me look around the house for things to use in it and taking some photos for me while I did the action prompts. I hope you get yours going again!
I found you last week and just 10 mins in decided to get 1 finally! You inspired me! I think this is the only video I've seen of a WTJ but I saw the books many years ago in a B&N store; I just didn't get 1 then. I love your tabs and the freedom you gave yourself!
@@JustJulesM I was probably using a cover from my daughter's old Happy Planner. The covers are very heavily laminated and she happened to have one that had black and white stripes, so the straight lines made a great writing board. I just cut off the side where the notches were punched for the binding. 🙂
It is nice to see someone get so excited about a journal yeah for you and we should all love our journals we make with all the mistakes Betsy Doodle had done one and put on a page no no
OK, just wanted to add that I've ordered the "Wreck This Journal" and can hardly wait! I went with the black and white version. Also, forgot to say YES please show us a flip thru when you can. :)
My journal, my money that bought my journal, and I can decorate it how I want and do whatever I want to with it. If you don’t like it, go away. Bahaha ahhhh!!!! The freedom that comes with age. Love it and I LOVE YOUR JOURNAL.
I recently watched a video in rules for coloring. I thought, "rules"?? There are no rules.
I’m 48 and years ago was under alot of stress. I had heard of the Wreck this journal and decided to do it. It relieved so much stress and gave me something fun to do. I still do them. You’re never to old to create. I love your journal!
I LOVE your wreck this journal!!! I agree with you on your statement, “your journal your rules.” Now I have to make one.
Go for it PLEASE. Nothing's impossible
I have one and I was so caught up in the rules of wreck this journal lol. Even though is about not following rules really! Nice to see people doing what they want.

When I was growing up my Grandmother had that wallpaper in her bathroom. It was red, and we weren’t allowed to touch it. 🤣 Love your channel!!
Dang! I wish to see you post more 😢 so satisfying!!
This is soo inspiring! Im thinking of doing one myself i bought these for my twins a few years ago they were excited to recieve them but barely did anything with them, i might just grab one of theirs n make a textile version 😊
Hi, I’m 70+, and I think it’s really a great idea and I think I might try to do this, I enjoyed your video thanks

It looks awesome and I’d love to see a flip through. I’ve got to go check and see what videos I’ve missed! Take care!
This looks like sooooooo much fun! I ❤️it.
I’ve never heard of this particular type of junk journal. I think the way you did it is really cool! I’m inspired, so thank you!
Fun day in the craft room!!!

You're making me blush! 😊
I would love to see how you make this spine (that you did for your new journal) I love your Wreck this journal. it is a happy journal.
Very Good junk journal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG
Loved sewing fabric into a page.
Me too!!
Yes for the flip through! Never seen this before, love it! Love all your videos!
I have 3 WTJ books and when I didn't want to work in my personal journals I grabbed those. Only thing I never did was like take it in shower, drag in dirt whatever lol. I just don't like those kinds of prompts but my 13 yr old did! TFS!
I haven't done the dirt page either, but I did shower with mine! 🛀
Never heard of this. Love your take on it. Love alligator mouth journals. Would love to see a flip thru.
Veery yummy Wreck it, I haven't seen one of those in years! I love Keri's blog but I think it's gone by now. 😍
Thank you for ever single video you post. They really make my day. ❤️
The black page in the front with the green looks like an old rotary telephone...LOL
I found you last week and just 10 mins in decided to get 1 finally! You inspired me! I think this is the only video I've seen of a WTJ but I saw the books many years ago in a B&N store; I just didn't get 1 then. I love your tabs and the freedom you gave yourself!
What is your writing board from? Made out of? Great idea!
@@JustJulesM I was probably using a cover from my daughter's old Happy Planner. The covers are very heavily laminated and she happened to have one that had black and white stripes, so the straight lines made a great writing board. I just cut off the side where the notches were punched for the binding. 🙂
It is nice to see someone get so excited about a journal yeah for you and we should all love our journals we make with all the mistakes Betsy Doodle had done one and put on a page no no
New to me, never heard of wreck this journal. Great video so much fun to see, was smiling all the way thru. I want one! TYFS
OK, just wanted to add that I've ordered the "Wreck This Journal" and can hardly wait! I went with the black and white version. Also, forgot to say YES please show us a flip thru when you can. :)
