Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. at Vassar College

Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. visited Vassar College to deliver a keynote address entitled "Race & Democracy: America Is Always Changing, but America Never Changes," on Monday, September 19, 2022. Drawing from his landmark book "Democracy in Black: How Race Still Enslaves the American Soul" and his New York Times bestseller "Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own," Dr. Glaude presented a picture of race and democracy that is colored by current events and framed by African American history. The event was sponsored by Vassar's Africana Studies Program; the offices of Religious and Spiritual Life and Contemplative Practices, the President, and the Dean of the Faculty; and the Political Science Department.
Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. is James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and Chair of the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University.
