Thousands in Washington, D.C. honor fallen officers | NewsNation Now

Many in the Capitol are going to the National Police Memorial to honor lost loved ones as part of National Police Week.
According to the Fraternal Order of Police, 21 police officers have been shot and killed so far in 2024.

In the US 21 police officers have been killed by gunfire in the line of duty this year. In Great Britain the last police officer to be kill by gunfire in the line of duty was 2020. Before that 2012. The difference is England, Scotland and Wales are countries that are not saturated with guns, and law enforcement rarely face adversaries armed with guns. And to this day, LE in GB do not carry guns. They have armed backup but rarely need it. In the US the gun nuts won and we are unable to face the reality that the guns are the problem. The US is saturated with guns that are lost, stolen or sold and flow to any fool who wants a gun and can get one easily. The highest firearm violence rate of any advanced country? Get used to it.
