I'm trying to learn spanish and korean. I'm brazilian so spanish is pretty similar to portuguese, which makes everything more complicated, I can understand spanish a lot but I don't know where to start studying 'cause it feels like I know everything and nothing at the same time, weird feeling
As a native Spanish speaker, I would recommend you to star with the abecedary. It sounds a bit obvious but many people forget that we read and pronounce every phrase literally how is written, so if you know how the letters should sound, and how to read de consonants + vowels then you have the basics for reading and speaking. For example in Spanish the word "hello" would be literally readed as "ello" since the H has no sound for us, and the double L has its own pronunciation (could be like "yo", "sho", "io", "llo" depending on the accent, but all are valid), while in English sound more like "jelou" lol. After you have that, you can try grammar and vocabulary, since Portuguese and Spanish are very similar I don't think you'll have difficulties with it :) good luck!
When you're not an English native speaker and you're learning Korean (or other languages) you end up speaking more English that the actual language that you were learning
Same!! All the apps and videos (well, almost all) are in English, so I learn Korean in English! It helps me a lot bc I'm learning English too but I don't have time for the 4 languages I want to learn
I am learning English, and I am so proud of myself for understanding 90% of what you said. However, my native language is Portuguese, and someday I will study Spanish. If someone can give me tips for my English I would be glad.
Hi! You can watch movies in English with subtitles on, then rewatch it again but without subtitles. Listening to music and watch the translation also helps a lot, especially when is music you like. I'd also recommend writing in English, you can create a diary or just write random things in english. I've been doing that and it helps me a lot to see where I'm failing, my weak spots, and what I can improve. Basically just expose yourself to the language and practice, you'll see soon how you can master it. My mother tongue is Spanish and I learned English by myself because in school, the learning is too slow and not motivating lol. Although I'm not a pro at English, I think I can give advice hehe. Have a nice day/night!~~
For Chinese: - HSK books and textbooks - watching films/dramas/anything in chinese - listen to chinese songs (their old song are SO beautiful, and if you want to listen to smth modern - escape plan, jj lin, kris wu, wayv) - you definitely should practice your pronunciation out loud a lot of times and compare to speakers (hsk books will help) - you should write characters with your own hand to memorise them As for duolingo, it might be helpful for practicing and checking vocab (grammar isn't always right) В общем и целом - учиться, учиться и еще раз учиться, в смысле, practice :)))
I dont completely agree with your music suggestion since they don't use any tones while they sing (chinese=tonal language), but it's pretty helpful if you want to get into the culture more. If you don't use tones while you speak (after getting used to no tones in songs) you will probably sound like a white girl speaking Spanish lol 😂! Nothing coming out of your mouth would be correct, and they won't understand a signal word you say. Other than that though, it's pretty beautiful and motivating. :)
How I learn 4 languages 1-Portuguese, my native language 2- French,i moved to France when I was 3 years 3- Spanish ,most people who speak Portuguese can understand Spanish, and my mom love telenovelas and I watched with her 4-English,I love USA movies ,during all my life I saw movies with subtitles Bonus: I can understand Italian and German but i can't speak, now I'm learning japonese and Chinese Nice video ☺
I’m learning Russian and I’d share the way I study it. Listen to music, print the lyrics (make sure is music you like so you’ll listen to it often) try to sing along you’ll see how your listening improve so quickly. I watch кухня it’s a really fun show. And it has subtitles in Russian and English. I watch an episode and select couple words (select words or phrases that you consider useful) do not try to memorize everything. Get a book. I have two Russian books , both of them are for beginners (even though they have a lot of words) it will help you to practice and the most important thing, the more mistakes I’ve made while reading the easier it’s been for me to remember/ memorize words. Find someone who’s native speaker. I share a picture of a paragraph from the books with them , have them read them for me so I know the entonation and then after one day of practicing I read it to them, they give me feed back and help me understand the context of the paragraph if I need to. I watch many RUclips videos In Russian even if I don’t understand anything. You need to emerge yourself in the language. After all the practice you will start understanding some words, then phrases little by little. :)
Actually it’s interesting that you’re learning Russian because a small amount of people learn this language. I know Russian because I live in Russia so if u need my help just let me know
tell me why u decided to learn russian, i'm a native speaker and i don'i like this language at all, and i don't understand why foreigners want to learn it
I feel the same way with Korean. I first started because of kpop but know I just really enjoy the language and don't even listen to this kind of music anymore
Hi guys I’m native Korean and I really really wonder how Korean language sounds to you guys. And can you pick a European language (The language I can not understand but something usual) that has a similar.. vibe?
@@김모모-d9z cuz korean has fewer letters in the alfabet and most letters sound similar the language blends together, if that makes sense. Nonetheless, korean is a great language to listen to. To me there not really a similar language in the EU.
Today, I learned a new word: "collocations." I have been living my life entirely in English for over 20 years and have never heard this word before, despite reading a lot.
Hey! I'm always super excited to see new Chinese learners so motivated, because a lot of times people are so put off by the perceived difficulty that they don't ever want to learn it. I started learning four years ago (it was my major in college), and after two exchange programs I can say I'm pretty close to fluent in everyday conversations, however I still have a lot to learn in terms of formal language and specialized vocabulary in certain situations. Anyways, with that aside, I think the two things that helped me the most when I first started learning was familiarizing myself with the sounds of the language through listening to podcasts, watching TV shows, and listening to music (though be careful with this one, because they don't use tones in music- I was actually not really able to understand songs for the most part without looking them up until the last year or so). It's impossible to imitate and make sounds in a language if you don't know what it sounds like, so try to add as much language input as you can. I find reality shows like idol producer or street dance of China to be good, because they're reality shows and showcase people speaking casually and naturally. The second tip I can give you is that with tones, for the first year or so I was learning I would move my chin as I was saying the words so I would not forget the tone (I know it sounds like it would look extremely stupid, which it probably did, but looking stupid is better than sounding stupid when no one can understand you without the right tone). I would also practice the movement of the tones in my throat when I was just chilling in class or something, so not vocalizing it but familiarizing myself with the movement. I would STRONGLY advise against ignoring tones when you first start learning and thinking that you will pick them up later, because it will not happen, you will just be learning wrong and have to relearn with the right tone. Eventually, talking to yourself in Chinese once you get to that level is also super helpful, and I do it all the time hahaha. As for characters- I've heard some people say they're going to learn how to speak Chinese but not learn how to read or write because the writing system is too hard... um. Let me just say. It will not work. The characters give you so much context, and since Chinese does not have very many sounds in the first place (which is the reason tones are used), words and their meanings are differentiated by their characters. If you don't have any context and are just reading the pinyin, you LITERALLY WILL NOT KNOW THE MEANING. I can't stress this enough. Characters are SO IMPORTANT. I know it can be daunting, but having learned this long, I can say that there are so many logical patterns to Chinese characters, and the vast majority of more complex characters are made up of simpler characters together or parts of them, along with radicals (the part of the character at the front), which helps to denote the meaning or category of the word (ie. there's a speaking radical, a question radical, a hand radical, etc. Characters with these radicals will almost always have an association with them). I read somewhere that you only need to know around 100 of the most commonly used characters in Chinese in order to be able to understand somewhere around 80% of characters, because as I said, most are made up of simpler, root or base characters that derived from classical Chinese. I know it's daunting but it's possible! Baby steps are important, so even learning five new characters each week is a super good place to start! Downloading Chinese social media like Weibo and bilibili videos helped me a lot with reading, since I was following celebrities I like anyways and would check it a couple of times a week and see if I could figure out anything that was said. There are also a lot of good, free resources online that help a lot in the beginning stages of language learning. I think having friends and peers who were learning along with me helped keep my motivation up, as we could hold each other accountable and also bond over our shared experience. Making Chinese friends was definitely when I saw one of the biggest improvements in my language skills, aside from when I went abroad to Taipei and Xi'an for language programs during the summer. Having friends who are learning Chinese but are at a higher level than you is also super helpful to both parties, and I improved a lot conversing with my friends in Chinese class who had more experience than I did. I know i wrote A LOT, but I'm just super passionate about learning Chinese and I think more people should learn it because it really is such a beautiful language and I'm completely in love with it. My friend Telix also has a youtube channel where she posts videos about Chinese language learning, so definitely check her out! Here is a video she made about self studying: ruclips.net/video/T2GWIrfkuT0/видео.html All in all, if you made it this far then I commend you because wow my 话 (hua2, words) really is 很多 (hen3 duo1, a lot), and tbh I have so much more to say and could go on about this forever, but yeah! That's my feature length novel with my advice for Chinese beginners! Definitely feel free to ask any questions or reply to this comment if you're interested in more resources, I can dig around in my brain archives for what I used when I was first starting out. I'm excited for you and for everyone who is starting their Chinese language journey, and I hope that y'all can enjoy it just as much as I do :D
oof I'm actually so embarrassed with how long this comment is LOL IM SO SORRY!! But if it helped at least one person then I'll feel a bit better hahaha
In case she doesn't reply, she has mentioned loving the Spanish show Elite on Netflix. After watching it ot definitely is a really popular and good show. I dont know if she has seen it, but La Casa de Papel (money heist) is also a really popular show that i recommend! Happy watching
•Shows: Elite, La Casa de Papel, Vis a Vis, Las Chicas del Cable •Movies: Ocho Apellidos Vascos, TOC TOC, Dolor y Gloria, Tadeo Jones and Atrapa la Bandera (this last ones are kids movies but they’re great if you’re a beginner)
Despite talking cartoonish, the characters in Peppa Pig talk clearly and I understood the majority of what they're saying. It took me a while to find the playlist with both English and Mandarin subtitles - Let me know if you guys need the link.
After commenting this I checked that not all the videos in the playlist has English subtitles, but there are about 10 videos, and maybe more in the future since they'll be premiering in a few days. ruclips.net/p/PLJqCvvdEL3dFt4m0JOD3Z1gkLXRVMHCbL 加油!
I'm a native Spanish speaker, now I'm learning English and Chinese at university, I hope someday learn Korean and Japanese too, I love these languages. Good luck to everyone who is starting to learn a new language maybe is not easy at the beginning, but if we put a lot of effort into it we'll get it.
for Chinese: Pleco! It's amazing! You can draw a character that you see, and it shows you the meaning, use, pronunciation, example sentences, traditional characters.. you can also only type in the pronunciation of a character and find how it's written
А я думаю, что самое прикольное в русском языке, что можно создать новые слова из имеющихся приставок, корней и суффиксов, чтобы передать любой смысл, если ты этого захочешь
I am from Argentina and I am learning English. I never took it seriously until a few days ago, when I realized that I really knew a lot about the language. I remember when I was 10 years old, we had an English assessment at school, and I put it off for several days because I was frustrated not knowing what to answer. I asked my cousin for help, who knew more about the subject than I did, she helped me with the evaluation and was the first person who explained it in such a beautiful and easy way for me, that it really made me interested in language. From there I learned it unconsciously, watching only movies in English with subtitles, listening to music in English, watching videos on RUclips, etc. Now, I'm happy to say, that at 18, my youtube feed is full of English videos, and I can watch them without subtitles. Or listen to a song and enjoy it without having to search for the lyrics. A few days ago I started to take it seriously and I am learning grammar, since I can speak quite fluently, but only by imitating others. I really don't know how it works. But if you are just starting out, I really recommend surrounding yourself with the language, even if you don't understand it yet.
Is this a miracle, Lenks is liking everyone's comment, Glad xD Anyways I am trying to learn korean, hindi, English, French, Spanish and Italian as I feel these are some languages I should and I need to learn however I don't know how to start, I am thankful for this video
I speak 4 languages but i understand 5 :) - speaks Indonesian as i live in Indonesia. - speaks Mandarin since, i’m ethnically chinese. - speaks english because i went to International school. - speaks hokkien (福建话) because i live somewhere in Indonesia which chinese people here speaks hokkien. - i'm able to understand melayu because indonesian and melayu are basically very similar and some of the words are exactly the same and means the same as well.
for korean I really recommend the 'sejong korean conversation' series! it's more of a structured course, but it is centered on a webdrama (the plot was kinda silly but lol). each "class" is based on an episode of the drama and they have short videos explaining the main grammar points, vocab etc. and it's completely free :DD
i’ve been seeing so many language learning videos in my recommendations today it’s probably a sign that i should start learning korean and chinese again bc i always get unmotivated at stop
about mandarin, i would recommend a very thin book that I used to use as a kid called 三字經, the content is all based on disciplines and not really for ideal daily conversation usage, but it is extremely helpful to perfect your tones and pronunciation. the characters are fairly simple and easy, the book also has pinying so it makes everything easier, plus each page only has like a few lines and each line has 6 words. def recommend for speech practice usage and good luck on ur language journey!!
I’ve been using Peppa Pig for Korean! 😂 I’m so used to babysitting that watching kids shows is honestly pretty enjoyable and the simple language keeps you from getting discouraged so it’s a win win
if you’re a person who knows a lot it helps if you don’t learn a new word by not looking up the English translation but looking up “ * unknown word* significa “ and you would basically learn the world through Spanish or you’re target language. it helps with being able to think in Spanish and not translating everything to English
This is soo encouraging to be honest!! I know many languages for my age.. These are the languages I know very nicely and speak almost everyday- 1. Hindi 2. Urdu (it is similar to Hindi but different in writing) 3. English (I have a mixed accent to be honest..lol) 4. Kashmiri (I may not be very fluent but I can understand, like EVERY word!! lol) Some that I am still learning or am almost there lol- 1. German (I have been learning this from school and I know how to do the basics and everything but I still have lots to learn!!) 2. Arabic (I use it during prayers so I know a lot of words in it.. I am also learning how to write in it..Urdu and Arabic have a kind of a same writing so its easy for me, but the alphabets are a bit confusing swell..so..ye) 3. Punjabi (I know about it from songs..lol..but I can't read what it says, so I am still trying a little..) 4. Russian (I am able to understand it properly, but it is difficult for me to capture the word, lol..and it is NOT difficult at all..lol..) 5. Ukrainian (I was born there so I know a little about it and Russian is a little similar to Ukrainian as well!!) Also just cause I am from Ukraine doesn't mean that I would e very good at it because, um, there are reasons sometimes..lol -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And thanks for saying that Duolingo is where we can learn because I am learning Arabic, German and Russian from Duolingo as well! And it is really helpful!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, I watch movies in German sometimes to help me understand as well! Some people who like animes know Japanese so nicely! And that is because they use subtitles and they listen to it as well!! That is also very helpful!! Thank u for reading!
i wanna learn 4 languages as well haha • english (my first language i’m already fluent) • spanish (second language, trying to learn because my friend and some family is spanish) • korean (i love kpop and wanna stop using subs lol) • japanese (anime is the best and also i wanna stop using subs as welll)
it’s going good! im currently learning spanish right now and everything is going all right some tips to learn is to stay motivated and probably focus on one language at a time 😊
It would be cool if you did make your channel more about languages, even if it was the odd progress update now and then I'd love to see it, I love languages so I get excited when people talk about them, even if I can only speak English myself. I've been taking my Japanese and Korean more seriously this year than previous years, so I feel pretty good about it right now.
Omg Anna! I’m learning these exact same languages, never thought I’d find anyone else doing the same. I started learning Spanish & Korean 4 years ago at 14, I just started learning Chinese and I’ll be taking Russian & linguistics at uni. I was worrying that it would all be too much but seeing someone else do the same is very motivating!

for chinese, i recommend watching a variety shows after you have your fundamentals down because 1. they're really fun to watch 2. they teach you a lot of new words 3. it helps with improving your pronunciation. as a canadian-chinese, watching these shows really helped me.
@@criptideancia hi! I learnt mandarin solely by watching shows since I was little haha, so if you’re interested in my recommendations… I like watching reality shows like running man(Chinese version)-奔跑吧兄弟,极限挑战(my absolute favorite!!!!!!! But only the first four seasons cuz after that they changed some of the mcs🥲) and more
@@rin3.311 that depends~ do you want to learn it for communication or for academic purposes? Like pursuing a degree or job in a Chinese speaking country? 😁
Right now I'm trying to learn Japanese, Korean and Indonesian so this was pretty interesting to watch! Chinese is my second language but I cannot for the life of me remember how I started learning since it was a compulsory subject in school. I use to hate it but now I feel like revisiting it and studying again. I remember they use to give us tongue twisters so that we would get use to the different tones and sounds tho:)
I used HelloChinese a few years ago and it was great. I'm not almost Hsk6! My tip is to rote-learn the first couple hundred characters- once you know them really well, basically all characters after that are just things you already know combined.
hey, I really enjoyed the video! I'm a Russian speaker and I find your advices very beneficial 😊 I presume, that Duolingo is useful for beginners too. It helps to learn the alphabet quicker and just to get used to a new language. Thank you for your informative video. I wish everyone good luck with learning languages!
I’m learning French, German and Swedish the difficulty is that French is really different from the other two and German and Swedish are very similar I sometimes mix both languages. I’m Mexican so I already speak Spanish and English which really helped me, people say that when you speak 3 languages the fourth one is really simple but I’m still fighting with learning three new languages. Thanks for the tips

Hello! Your video was really fun to watch! It's inspiring to see someone learning so many languages at once. I've been learning Chinese for a bit and I would recommend like others have already to use "Pleco" if you get the chance. It's sooo helpful to understand the usage of words and provides resources for learning similar words and sentences too! Finally, Yoyo Chinese has some pinyin pronunciation videos on RUclips that are useful. A lot of people I studied Chinese with have tried to say tones/pronunciation don't matter that much, but I would strongly disagree. Starting with mastering tones and pronunciation using pinyin will go a long way to learning Chinese. If you decide to go further later "A Course in Contemporary Chinese" textbook and workbook with the audio files for practice has been a godsend of a textbook for learning conversational vocab and grammar quickly. Goodluck!
You can use “有道词典” for your mandarin learning! It is very good at translating between Chinese and English! As a Chinese I use it on a daily basis to look up words in English😉 I hope this helps you!

I am also learning english and my native language is portuguese

For Chinese:
- HSK books and textbooks
- watching films/dramas/anything in chinese
- listen to chinese songs (their old song are SO beautiful, and if you want to listen to smth modern - escape plan, jj lin, kris wu, wayv)
- you definitely should practice your pronunciation out loud a lot of times and compare to speakers (hsk books will help)
- you should write characters with your own hand to memorise them
As for duolingo, it might be helpful for practicing and checking vocab (grammar isn't always right)
В общем и целом - учиться, учиться и еще раз учиться, в смысле, practice :)))

Here is a video she made about self studying: ruclips.net/video/T2GWIrfkuT0/видео.html
All in all, if you made it this far then I commend you because wow my 话 (hua2, words) really is 很多 (hen3 duo1, a lot), and tbh I have so much more to say and could go on about this forever, but yeah! I'm excited for you and for everyone who is starting their Chinese language journey, and I hope that y'all can enjoy it just as much as I do :D

5. Ukrainian (I was born there so I know a little about it and Russian is a little similar to Ukrainian as well!!)
Also just cause I am from Ukraine doesn't mean that I would e very good at it because, um, there are reasons sometimes..lol

omg girl first of all, when you said you are russian/ speak russian I was like "oh heyy i can understand a little russian too, bc many people speak it in my native country, so that's kinda cool", but then when you were talking bout the netflix thing I was just like "huh?? wait a minute.. did I hear Latvia"?? long story short I'm from Latvia too so hello fellow latvian :)
anyways, here's my language story:
-advanced english learned from school and media and just...life
-fluent german bc I moved here 8 years ago when I was 10 y old
-pretty basic french, learned in school
-trying to start learning korean now
-very very basic spanish, but I want to continue learning it one day
-and of course, my native language which I use everyday with my family, latvian ;)
I'm so grateful for your tips, I'm currently learning French and I was so lost cos I didn't know were to start.
My first language is spanish (I'm mexican) and my second one is English.
I'm looking forward to see my progress in french making a good use of your tips. 💐
Hi.I'm trying to learn French (also a native Spanish speaker)and I need where to star when it comes to grammar. Can you recommend me some books?or websites?
I'm only learning Korean💭💕
I'm learning English and Spanish at the same time , i start with douling go first and it really helpful, by the way i am a native Vietnamese.
Wow you’re literally learning the four languages that i always wanted to learn
I did a GCSE in Mandarin Chinese three years ago, and I remember in the weeks building up to the exam I was stressing about my level of Mandarin for the Reading and Listening papers so I downloaded Chineasy and I found it so useful and ended up getting an A* in my exam! I would definitely recommend Chineasy :)
Really random but I was stretching out my box split whilst watching this and FINALLY got it 😂really random but just super happy with myself
AHHH I’m so proud!!!
@@AnnaLenkovska OMG thank youu I love your channel 💕
Wow, your accent is so unique, you sound American at first, but then I hear Russian and Irish accent. It’s like a full on mix! I’m kind of same, since I’m Russian and learned English, mostly watching American and British stuff. So my accent is also very unusual😂 some words I pronounce in American accent, some words in British
I’m a russian native speaker, but even for me, my mother-tongue is too difficult in learning and understanding all grammatical features/rules and so on and so forth. I also haven't mentioned russian popular slang yet .. but that's another issue 😆
Ты большая молодец! 💞 Искренне желаю тебе удачи
With love from St.Petersburg!😘
Блин правда. Грамматика у нас реально сложная)

Meee, I’m fluent in Spanish and I’m learning Korean
sooo,, what about a group? 👉👈
i'm learning korean and mandarin too, lets make a whatsapp or ig group?
finally🥺🧚🏼♀️
у тебя очень красивый акцент на английском, наверное, из-за этого носители говорят, что ты native
кст, про русский. русский очень красивый язык (я живу в москве, столица россии) и скажу что он довольно сложен и для русских, но это скорее из-за того, что у нас много правил и исключений (даже больше чем в английском).
а ещё удачи тебе в изучении языков!!💗
good luck in learning languages!!💗
Why all people at my age being productive like you, I'm 2002 liner too but i master 0 language
Same, I suck at my national language too
@@invaliduser216 me too, the fact is I suck at both of my native language and english and im at the point when people can misunderstood what i mean :(
@@yipyip7834 I mix up all the languages I speak , but I wanna learn Spanish
Let’s do it sis I’m starting soon

я учу английский в школе и в прошлом году начала ходить на курсы. Мне кажется мой английский улучшился и я в принципе многое понимаю, но мне страшно что если со мной заговорит носитель то меня неправильно поймут, последнее время работаю над этим ( а ну еще начала прошлой осенью учить китайский, классный язык и печально что многие думают что он сложный из-за большого количества иероглифов)
Но он реально сложный
And here I am using memerise and duolingo oops
Hola Senorita! I am beginning learning Spanish prior to visiting Mexico for the third time. I love you so much for your passion to share and encourage others no matter where they are on their journey. Bless you always and Gracias😀
