Jack, I really enjoy your videos. You show us so much of what you find. You will even fast forward through boring stuff to get to the good stuff. This unit is AMAZING!! $$$
At the top of the list of pennies (17:30) is listed a "1909 S VDB" penny. That is listed at $750 to $1000 or more depending on condition. Also here is a tip for finding 1943 pennies. Carry with you a strong magnet and dip in and those steel pennies will just jump in to your hand.
Jay, Those Japanese scrolls and artwork could have real value. When you roll two scrolls together, first roll up one and then roll the second around it, If you open two scrolls rolled together , it is possible for one to catch on the other and rip it! I was in the art/framing business for over forty years so please heed my advice. Those brushes are for brush painting. Those print books are VERY valuable in some cases. That book of scenes that unfold is also rare. Jay, You've got to have the book of art appraise. Cheers, Rik Spector
Mr. Spector , I know you're correct about the scenes, my friend had a gallery that dealt with Oriental arts and he had the same discussion with a buyer who was interested in (forgive me, either that or something similar, it's been some years ago and I'm quite old now) those, I remember he said there were rare then.
@@LockerNuts The yellowing is called foxing. Loving the content Locker Nuts and Manuel, the Dream Team!😀😊 On the fans it is bone if it has flecks(blood) in it and ivory if it hasn't usually.
Those red stamps are called hanko stamps, it is the name of the artist, you could have a lot of money or no money, you should definitely have them checked out
I have a little over 200 of them (after I split them with Manuel) and those will be in smaller lots in tomorrow's auction. We'll go throw them a bit more detailed in the auction. I'm excited to see how they do, we have some cool ones, and most are from the 1940s and 1950s.
GREAT VIDEO. You and Manny found a great storage unit. makes me want to just go and open up someones storage locker not to steal anything just go and look.
Gr8 find's Jack and Manuel... I think you guys hit the jackpot this time... Those Dead Sea Scrolls can be very valuable and highly collectable... Can't wait to see more... Stay safe guys...👍💕🔥🌎😷
The funny thing to me is when you find the View Master and then the slides but then you hold the slide up to the light. LOL I guess if it were me I would have use the View Master to look at the slides.
These people obviously had money and spent it accordingly. If I was still working and not retired I would offer you 10K for the trunk alone! As an art dealer I have seen a lot of scrolls in my time and can tell you that what you have is real quality.
Thanks Brian! I sure hope they are the real deal. Manuel and I are excited. He's sent some photos off to Sotheby's to get some feedback on some of the items. Hopefully they'll have some good news for us!
Sale it all as a lot at a reputable auction house after appraisals. I'm sure I don't need to tell ya that, but sometimes I question knowledge of people and how they handle the merch. It dig your vids. Keep them coming.
Here's what I do know: students even from Imperial families were taught the art of writing, painting and decorating. They designed their own marks as they progressed in study. Many teachers were taught by very famous artisans, what does that mean to your finds? It means research and finding someone you can trust to evaluate your finds. I watch Peter Combs channel who is a expert in Asian art. You should contact him to find someone in your area who he knows is trustworthy and you can get an evaulation of your finds.
Hi, at 3:39 of the video those are antique Chinese carved panels that may have been part of a wooden door. The half dragon and half deer creature is called a “Kirin.” Those Chinese paintings may be from a famous artist. Congrats on the great finds! Coinpicker
Contact the Japanese American Center in Los Angeles to get some input about the scrolls etc. I personally LOVE the first prints or ink paintings you took out of the trunk.
M8 the bamboo paint brushes Value depends on the 1 quality. 2 maker. And 3 age. The value varies according to the usage as well Old calligraphy brushes are more than old paint brushes for example An expert on art would know
OMG! I love it!! As you said, where do you start. Yes, it could be famous artist. Very talented. Good for you two. Please keep us up dated. Can’t wait to see the next video😁🙃😀😊🤪
Just wondering, how long after you buy the unit, do you have to clear out? PT. 2, do you pay the monthly fee to be able to keep stuff there a while to go through/sell everything?
Typically it's 48 hours, but if you have a relationship with the facility, they will likely grant you another day or two. Exceptions also if you buy multiple units on that day, or if the unit is especially large. I am definitely a fan of renting the unit and working out of it slower. It's easier on my physically, more enjoyable, but it also opens the risk of the unit being broken into, which has happened to me in the past.
By reading some of the other comments, you'd think the opposite. I've had so many critical comments already because we ACTUALLY handled the comics, or because we didn't wear white GLOVES while opening the scrolls. Gee wiz, I think some viewers think that we should have adorned haz mat suits and cordoned off a 3 block radius because of the precious treasures we found. Thanks for your positive feedback because I think we are pretty careful with the items.
I am asian, and I do agree that u should use gloves.. But u r the most gentle person for unboxing stuff.. I see other youtuber r worse.. They throw stuff away on stack of pile, sometimes breaking glass or electronic stuff cz they tryna act energized something like that I like ur content, its organized. Keep that up!!
The scrolls and the art work look very special! The paper they are on looks very old too! Awesome! Please share what you discover on that magnificent art work!
We plan to. We'll likely bring it to Michaan's auction house, as they have an asian art expert and they allow us to bring up to 5 items once per week, and they'll give us a valuation for free.
I used to live in Taiwan, aka The Republic of Free China. Much of this is Chinese and very beautiful. Those brushes are some of what they used to produce the gorgeous calligraphy. I used to watch my neighbor, and it looked like his brush had only one or two hairs. I am binge watching so not sure of when you purchased this. I hope I can find wherever you had them appraised. I am so curious. You keep opening the American way. Chinese read from back to front.
I saw a 1914 D penny on the list. It could be worth a lot. The problem with the average layman when it comes to aprasels is that they go right for the top dollar listed. It doesn't work that way. You've got to know how to grade coins, and it takes a bit of study.
We are in the process of getting them appraised, and will price them out once that is complete. Pretty much everything we found will be put up for sale, and we'll put an update video out soon with what we find. Thanks!
Manuel keeps calling you S.A.? what does that mean? I'm assuming that it's like dude, am I right? I'm so glad that you both are going to benefit from this locker from the Asian Art it seems and I'm sure that there's much more treasure coming your way. Much Love
Alot of asian art made its way to America and I know that the market for there art was strong and they were buying it back. Definitely needs to be appraised by someone that knows asian art.
If Chinese they’ll fetch a high price. Japanese a good sum. Take pics of each scroll, picture and artwork along with the Jade box and send to an Asian art appraiser. You’ve quite possibly got thousands worth in that one trunk alone. 🥳
If their is a stamp on the lower left hand side of the scroll...it can be worth 1000s ...you might have to do some homework on them..they look amazing.....Chinese are can go for amazing prices..they can also be worth a $1 lol
It is a Kobe Chaparral, and I think it's made in Hong Kong. I have it, but don't think I'll be headed to Stockton in the near future. Shoot me an email at lockernuts@gmail.com if you want more info or pics on it.
you need to find an antique dealer that deals with Asian artifacts. Some of the things you have look hand painted and my have real value. If you auction them without knowing, you may lose a lot of money.
Asian art a valuable find, contact an auctioneer or art appraiser for value. I have been doing a lot of research about postcards, some could be valued in the $75 range. I am a bit jealous of your find but happy as a clam you acquired it. Stay safe, be blessed good Karma on its way.

It keeps getting more intriguing. Can we have a video of the appraisals being processed? That would be so interesting.

Great idea!

Damn it ya big tease!! Making me wait for the next video to show #3 big find😉
Yes! That would actually be really nice and interesting 🧐 👍😊
I was hoping for the same thing!
That trunk is beyond fascinating!
Outstanding find! What an adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it
Fabulous finds! I sure hope your hands were clean. Maybe carry hand wipes in the truck so you’ll have them for times like this. 👍🏼
Lol true

Such awesome finds! Hope you can take time to show us the postcards another day. Love seeing them with your comments about the areas you know.

You did great 👍
You ought to take the Asian merch to an Asian artifacts auction or appraisals. I think you will be really suprised as to what you have.
Thanks
Welcome
I can't believe you guys aren't jumping and whoopin' with excited glee!!
Incredible finds!!
I am LockerNut bingeing tonight

Awesome. Maybe she'll like this video.
Amazing items
Thank you 😊
A lot of times the date the pictures were printed is on the back. You guys sure hit the jackpot, such beautiful and interesting things.
Yes! Thank you!
I’d pack all that back into that locker and have all that appraised!

Do not rush to sell. Art dealer, gallery, etc investigation first! For everything you have there as far as art, scrolls, and fabric items
We won't. It'll be fun to go through these slowly and find new homes.

Jack go to your barber and ask for some good beard oil, it will make it very soft and smells really good and Janna will love it
That was hella smart saving those photos. 👍
Wow it's getting better,I picked a good one.I couldn't get it but happy you did. :)
Jack I think you made a lot of people watching "NUTS".
Great find.
Someone probably told you this already, but the 1909-s VDB cent that was on that list has some value.
Thanks!
I did notice a name of Tom as a last name. It was on the US Treasury check for 5 cents. Hope you could make a connection. RWP
There is a app where you can take a picture and it will read the writing. I seen on somewhere bc they couldn’t read the sushi menu
I think Manuel knows how to do that, he mentioned something about it.
I use Google translate. It uses your phone camera to scan.
The scrolls and the art work look very special! The paper they are on looks very old too! Awesome! Please share what you discover on that magnificent art work!
Beautiful art...have it checked out $$$$$

Look into the 1909 S, 1915 S, 1924 D and the1931 S.
Jack take those scrolls and wood pieces to a appraiser who deals in Oriental items, i think your sitting on a little gold mine there
I sure hope so! Thanks.
The books are probably hand painted!!
She was on antique roadshow and auction kings
Ah. Thanks!

Those pictures says Money!
I love that art style I have seen the asian art but not in that looser style. cool those post card was great to see too.
Dr lori would know maybe a good place to take the stuff to sell it there can be a Fortune in that with all the stuff

So what was the outcome from this unit?
How long you are going To take

The locked trunk. 😂😂😂
the red mark is important
You can price the scrolls and brushes at what you want to .
Are there any Dead Sea scholl's in there? LOL
Hurry up with those picture and Post Card men.
Also check for a false bottom to that trunk!!!
The owners probably were sent to internment camp and hid theses away and never unpacked it but put in into storage.
Those are paint brushes used to write chinese and japanese characters. They might use them to paint as well IDK
The scrolls depending on age could be worth 5 figures
Alot of asian art made its way to America and I know that the market for there art was strong and they were buying it back. Definitely needs to be appraised by someone that knows asian art.
They are very valuable! Contact Christies!!!
If Chinese they’ll fetch a high price. Japanese a good sum. Take pics of each scroll, picture and artwork along with the Jade box and send to an Asian art appraiser. You’ve quite possibly got thousands worth in that one trunk alone. 🥳
That oriental art work looks like it’s on silk screen scrolls and it maybe is worth a lot of money so take it somewhere to get it priced.
Yes, this was very interesting. But you guys should have stopped until you can handle properly. It could make a difference in value.
Next time!
you found it. the horses. the most famous ink work picture in China.
If their is a stamp on the lower left hand side of the scroll...it can be worth 1000s ...you might have to do some homework on them..they look amazing.....Chinese are can go for amazing prices..they can also be worth a $1 lol
I think you should be wearing rubber cloves to keep these things all clean
Interested in that bike I see in the corner. Happen to know what brand or model it is?

Those are worth something do to authentic and not just a print
For sure. I've never found anything like it.
Jack I have an idea it's either a winner or a total bomb
I wonder if these people were interned during WW2.
I was wondering the same. If so and some of this came with them from the camp could be more valuable and of course significant.
Oh yes, those Chinese scrolls and other stuff is Money!
Forget the pennies
Asian art a valuable find, contact an auctioneer or art appraiser for value. I have been doing a lot of research about postcards, some could be valued in the $75 range. I am a bit jealous of your find but happy as a clam you acquired it. Stay safe, be blessed good Karma on its way.
did you say a chalk horse? oh oh.
yup. treasures of china where the USA had absolutely no comprehension of its value to China.
real history.
lol thx !
You betcha... thank you!!!!!!!!
Jack get ahold of Dr. Lori she is an expert appraiser she has a RUclips channel she could tell you.
Barra up man
The scrolls are Japanese. I also agrees with everyone else have them checked out!
A lot of these Japanese water colors are on either rice paper or silk!
Nope. They are 100% from China.
