Don't sell that ring! What you have is Color: I ---DEF(colorless), GHI (slightly colored), JKL (moderate color), MNO (heavy color). Most diamonds fall in the moderate color range. Clarity: F (Internally flawless) very few diamonds have that and are usually registered-like yours. Then VVS1 &VVS2 (Very, very slight flaws not seen by eye), VS1 & VS2 (Very slight inclusions not seen by eye), SI1 & SI2 (slight inclusions seen by eye), S1 & S2 (inclusions seen by eye). Cut: Round brilliant is the most popular shape as opposed to Round. It is a newer cut and gives the most brilliance of any shape. For a stone that is 1.55-anything over 1.50 puts it in a higher price bracket. It may look like a very simple ring, but it is set in a Tiffany 6 prong setting with a white gold bale, which totally brings out your brilliance the most! Your registered ring by today's prices is about 8-10K or more!!! Don't sell it, keep it for your wife-renew your vows or something, give it to her and then you guys can pass it down. You will prob not see another one like it in your lifetime, they are not usually that available. If you need to have it sized-don't let it out of your sight! Have it sized by someone you trust and have them size it or repair it, while you are there watching. The diamond earrings might also be a big surprise to you, as well as the pearls. The older pearls are heavier and worth much more. Pearls with the 14kt or 18kt ball closure are usually a step above and worth about 2k-4k, depending on their size/color. You need to have them and the other diamonds looked at and appraised. The diamond pendant goes in that blue box with the little staple pin. That goes through the pendant's chain holder and then pushed into the felt liner. Fantastic finds for you!!!

The notation for F is also IF, depending on what company is reporting. It is still flawless or internally flawless!

Apparently I was overly conservative in my estimate. Not so much with the color (which is above normal), but the fact of the size, shape and clarity is what bumps the pricing up. To find a 1.55 round brilliant, flawless is amazing and I'm being told it is closer to 15K than the 8-10K

Maybe that large diamond ring came from the Whitehall box? WH? It does look like at least a carat...The Nolan Miller is high end costume. Did the pearls have a necklace and a bracelet? Nice set; the company has been in business since 2003. Nice gold necklace! This is fun!! Pretty white gold ring with the little diamonds :) Screw back is a good sign...they are made like that so one doesn't lose their DIAMONDS !! Very nice treasure, Jack! :)

I worked for Ben Bridge Jewelers for 12 years and the diamond you found is special. The F stands for color, not flawless as one of the other comments. The measurements are close to ideal cut and that can add 20 % to the value of a graded diamond, as the brilliance is enhanced by having the angles and proportions just right. So when you do sell it, be sure the price reflects the added value of the proper cut. Congratulations

Jack, I don't think you should sell any of the diamonds or those heavy Gold necklaces. At the very least they are great investments and great family heirlooms. I don't know about the pearls but I know they seem to loose their luster after years.
My mom had a beautiful 2 karat ring, it was worth 20 thousand and like a fool I went for sentiment and took my mom's wedding ring and my sister took the 2 karat ring of course at the time I had no idea what it was worth.
Then she gives it to her son, who gives it to his wife, who has the diamond taken out and put in a modern white gold setting to be her new wedding ring and she doesn't even like the setting any more.
It was set in a beautiful setting that looked like a sunflower and had several small diamonds set on the flower's petals .
Moral of the story don't sell the diamonds! I have regretted letting that go everyday since.

You can fix the little jewelry box hinge with a sewing straight pin. If it has a really small head then bend both ends, but if not pull the head tight to the hinge and then bend the long end to keep pin tight and then snip off excess...DONT CUT INTO THE BENDS.

I would say that judging from the size of your solitaire not to mention the gold that it is mounted in, it would fall into the $4,000 range. I'm no expert but it seems logical.

Do not I repeat do not sell that ring! Give it to the wife along with the necklace and earrings make it a family heirloom. A Whitehall solitaire set in 18k I would say conservitly would be about $10,000 retail at that carot weight. Depending on clarity verification you could be looking at $10,000 easy and that is just the ring! My guess is that the pendant and earrings are each 1/2 carat each, the earrings I would say about $1000.00 retail the pendant between $1000 to $3000 depending on clarity again retail . I could not find a Whitehall solitaire engagement ring in 18k like the one you got however similar but found a 18k 1.4c. diamond solitaire in gold (not as thick in the band) for $25,400 retail. Again make that an anniversary or Christmas gift to your wife!

The l.55 carat diamond ring in 14kt gold could be worth $6,000 to $8,000 depending on the quality of the diamond

Nice score Jack. I used to go to live auctions (like Ogren's) and I would set a max bid on an item and very rarely would I ever exceed my cap. Good luck on a great sale of the ring.

Just because you read a stamp doesn't make it what it says, the bails can be replaced and filled while chemical and scratch test results of necklace needs tested as well as the bails and pendants as they can all have different results when people have work done on jewelry (changing out the chain and bails).

You should trade your trailer and that ring for a good box trailer. Awesome upgrade and no money out of pocket. 12 or 16 foot trailer

I have a similar diamond that was appraised at close to $10,000. And that was the actual replacement cost, not just insured price.

Just a tip, when you put things on a scale dont do it one at a time, try to do it all at one. Most scales will read wrong if you add too the pile one at a time. You can test your scale with pennies.

Most of the time, the stamp on earrings are on the actual stud that goes through the ear. It is a tiny stamp!! Look there in the future! Absolutely beautiful jewelry!

My fiancee and I bought a 3 ring wedding set when we were preparing for our engagement party in Dec. 1973. The diamond was a registered diamond and I still, have the paperwork on it. The funeral home lost his band in 97. I lost my band while out of state. I still had my engagement ring and wore it until I remarried in 2012. My nieces 2 boys apparently stole my beautiful keepsake. My heart is truly broken.

For future reference, if you don't have a tester handy... blow hot air onto a stone to fog it up, if the fog dissipates immediately, it is a diamond. If the fog stays, then it isn't
