  • Barbados is home the the third oldest parliament in the Commonwealth. The island celebrated the 375th anniversary (1639-2014) of the founding of its parliament and this video highlights the contribution to those celebrations by the uniformed and armed services. The parade started at Queen's Park, continued along the Careenage by the boardwalk and wound its way through Bridgetown ending up at Heroes Square where there was much pomp and circumstance. Beefeater Guards from the UK joined our local police, military, cadets, scouts, guides and other uniformed services in making the event quite memorable. It culminated with a reenactment of the Changing of the Guard normally carried out at the historic Garrison area.
