--SMPOST--STILL Using Google Password Manager? Try These… Наука
I enjoy your videos but come on man. "STOP Using Your Password Manager NOW!" Really? If anything it should have been titled STOP Using LastPass.
Yeah,, I thought this was a video about the new Passkey feature of Apple devices. Instead it promotes other password managers...
Same reaction here. Definitely a channel I'll avoid in the future.
Yeah I clicked here just to down vote
It's a bit too clickbait-y for sure, but the content of the video itself isn't all that bad. I think the title of the video gave a bad impression and coloured people's perception of the rest of the video in a negative tone. It's a shame.
i use keepass a completely encrypted and decentralized database of passwords and sync it across devices. thanks i won't stop using that because it's the best solution.
If this channel is reviewing password managers should it be accepting sponsorships from them? Sounds like a conflict of interest.
Definitely
This channel is like many others: it is just an echo chamber for the marketing departments of the products being reviewed.
At least I only had to watch 26 seconds of the video to know not to watch any more.
It's hilarious that he tries to spin it as "they're a top sponsor because they're ranked so highly" but it could easily be the other way around. My guy you have zero evidence that you're unbiased here, but I'm glad you're making some money
@@PatrickDunca at least he discloses it. There would be so many that wouldn’t.
i stopped watching when you mentioned that the top one choice you're recommending is your primary sponsor
I love how there are affiliate links for each of the password managers mentioned
I appreciate you Mr Holmes
If someone just saw the title and thumbnail and didn't go on to watch the video, they would have been severely misinformed. Please don't cause misinformation.
The best password manager is the one that sponsors you XD
Just because the dude admits he gets sponsored doesn't mean he is honest
The title to your video is downright misleading as I thought you would come with a safer alternative to using a password manager.
Just another influencer shilling affiliate links on RUclips. Remember back in the day when we stopped reading reviews in magazines and instead came to RUclips to get a 'real' review? Yeah, those days are gone, and it's channels like this that are a prime example of why RUclips is just awful these days.
Stopt watching when I heard the sponsor of this video is one of the contenders..
im food critic ,im sponsored by juicy tasty mcdonalds burgers
I wanted to tell u just how much ur title annoys me. I "We are 25+ so past that ytube phase where titles were written by 15 year old ourselves. U keep this style alive. Why shud I give u more % of my premium money?
nice ad dude. im glad youre not a security consultant or you would be out of your job.
Well... saying facts! 😂😂😂
Hi, what are your thoughts on the security of the c2 password application? Is it something you would suggest for a personal account? Thanks
Why is Bitwarden's security score an 8 when they literally encrypt everything
They didn't sponsor?
they didn't give him money
Not to mention that they are one of the only options that allows for self-hosting, which provides more choice and flexibility.
Hosting the vault on your own system has pros and cons. Con: your system is most likely not as well secured as one of these vendors' systems. Pro: your system is not as attractive, or as well known, a target as the vendor systems.
What about the "Automatic Login" option when sharing passwords? Where a password manager can automatically fill in your login details without giving the user the opportunity to view the password." This feature enhances security by reducing the time that sensitive information, such as your password, is visible on the screen.
I didn't find that on 1password and Norpass. Any help on that please would be really appreciate it.
5 months and nothing. He is taking us for donkeys. He could at least reply with a promise for future content. Not purchasing through his links.
PLEASE change the title and thumbnail NOW!
PS Great Video
nothing beats a nice safe and notebook with all your passwords in it just write it in the form of a Cypher only you can understand
How come no mention of Dashlane?
back when i was going to tech for computer classes there was a program i could place on my usb and hold my password that way... do those still exist?
Maybe I missed it, but where did you see that yubikeys work with Synology C2?
Never been breached because no one uses them.
Samsung pass: free
what about dashline .. am i using and keeper too
I Never used a password manager before. So i want to use one. which one do you suggest for me from those listed in video?
@@greenjobs2153 Why would you recommend keepas over bitwarden? I'm looking into password managers right now, and so far most sources have been steering me in the direction of bitwarden, or doesn't it matter too much if they provide the same kinds of features with similar levels of security?
for now, i know 1password can't save your password when you save in the app no matter where either phone or mac, you need to put in the 1password manually. Not sure if they have this function yet, let me know if I'm not right.
You don't consider price as important enough as a comparison point?
00:25 you admit flat out you are bought and sold; how can anyone trust what you are saying?
These kind of youtubers should be avoided at all cost. Unsubscribed already. They dont have any integrity left.
Looking forward to your 1 year review of Proton PW manager!
I'm an elder. All I want is something that takes all my passwords, changes them by itself, stores them securely for use when I need them. Period. Somebody just hacked into my SS disability account (I don't know how since the card was in my brother's possession while I was overseas) and completely drained 2 months of my livelihood.
Also the emergency feature in some of these apps is a nice touch at my age. Which would you suggest? You talk too fast for me to follow.😂
You can slow the video down and rewatch.
@@majorhavoc9693These videos are just as useless to elders as they are to actual tech experts. There's a small segment of people that benefit from these videos, and they all have affiliate links.
Would never give my passwords to an on line tool that is not open source.
Enpass should be on your list
I work with computers for a living and i have yet to use a password manager and I've never ever had to reset a forgotten password. what's my magic secret? I record them notebook program I made, or you could just make a document for them.
Store them in an unencrypted document?
Why no Dashlane?
Wait... if someone else has your phone or the separate key, the password automatically logs them into site, etc, basically bypassing the password. Sounds like no security to me.
It doesn’t do that at all. It’s locked, even on the phone. So you have to use FaceID or fingerprint to unlock the password manager, on top of the security to unlock your phone.
If they try to log in from a new device then you need the security key, where you need to know the username, master password and have the physical key
@@PeteMatheson ok, thanks
Lemme tell you something
Keep a keyword
(Your password manager generated password ) + (keyword)
For example let's say
You password generator generates password - xyz123
For Facebook, save it as it is
Now don't use the base password it gives, before creating an account
Do it as
Xyz123 +your own Keyword (now don't save this
So everytime you login
You automatically put password from your manager and then don't click login and fill your own Keyword
Done ✅
is there a self host option?
Not many offer that - but Bitwarden does have a self-host option available.
I love Keeper...It's my fav manager
Looking forward for your thoughts on Proton Pass ❤
1password was the one that has been hacked?
You need to know the people that run it! Ie they should have staff profiles on the website.
Hey! Which software is being used to create those beautiful animation.
All done in final cut!
@@PeteMatheson Thanks...
How can anyone trust a video about password managers when the video itself is sponsored by one of them?
From the title of the video I thought you'd preach about not using password managers at all, weird title.
How do you transfer you existing app passwords to a password manager ?
It's usually just a case of entering them as you go unfortunately!
@@PeteMatheson oh wonderful 🤣 thanks for the quick response 👍
Not really, you are able to export your entire vault from most password managers and you can import in almost all of them. So, export vault with all the passwords and import them in the new one.
Hey Pete! What happened to my comment, please? Why it has disappeared?
Sorry! I’ve not deleted it - RUclips sometimes has some fairly aggressive filters, perhaps it’s been caught by that?
Bitwarden all the way for us. I used it to dump Lastpass since it's import process was so painless and have never looked back. Self-hosting, 2fa support, email aliases and Passkey support is in development for release this summer. For $10 a year for a single account it's a bargain or stay free for most of the features. At this moment I'm the only paid account in the family while everyone else uses the free option. I've considered their family plan but haven't gone that route yet for about $40 a year Because all our needs are met so far.
I am concerned about how they plan to initiate their passkey support and I'm hoping they won't make it a premium feature. Since pasties look like they may become a standard it would be a shame if they put it behind a paywall but I suppose that will depend on how the other password managers implement it. Here's to hoping.
Frankly, I'm paying just to support or it like 10usd which is nothing. i was genuinely sad for not supporting Myki password manager.
Why bother?
Bitwarden is wasting time on passkey support instead of features that support actual password management.
They have clearly lost focus on their core business.
I will move away from Bitwarden as soon as I have found a worthy replacement.
Great video... Do you have recommendations for ad blockers for Android as well?
AdGuard is the only ad blocker i would ever recommend, can run OS + DNS level which can prevent even in-app ads and other trackers to reach out those
Good question, but no! I haven't really looked into it. Currently playing around with reverse number lookup apps and having fun with those :)
Brave browser, no addons needed
stop use manage but use these managers. makes no sense. make your own
Keeper is for the og users. If you know you know.
whats the best free one?
I like Synology C2 for free. Otherwise Bitwarden is another good option!
@@PeteMathesonok
Sorry for being rude, but this is a pet peeve of mine: The title of this video makes me want to block this channel.
Keeper is amazing!
Why not icloud keychain?
iCloud Keychain is amazing but it has poor integration for windows users. For some reason, my passwords don’t get synced all the time which forces me to open my iPhone and manually grab it from my phone. I wish it were better.
Watchtower score 1053
What about Google Password Manager bro?
1182 is mine...
Damn! Haha, good work
Do I miss something, or why is Dashlane Password Manager not even mentioned?
Fair comment.
I looked at Dashlane a few times over the years and each time it’s been a fairly buggy mess, which started around their transition away from the desktop app to browser only. I didn’t even think to include it just from previous bad experiences - but chances are it might be OK nowadays!
Got it, thanks for clarifying 😊
I’ve used Dashlane on android, cause it work’s better than 1Password, about a year ago.. Now I’m on a IPhone and Dashlane works even better.
But I will definitely check 1Password out again if my Dashlane subscription ends 👍
bitwarden
@@moonlightfitzterrible on android when compared to the competitors
My 1PW score is 1143
Bitwarden has some of the best security around your pretty bias.
I am a regular person looking to find a password manager. Another vidoe dated May 2023 indicated malware Vipersoft x targeted 1Password. Is this true? If so, did 1password keep the malware from getting people's passwords? I honestly don't know which one to choose. Edit: I just read malware is targeting all password managers, which makes sense. When I read what IT people do to keep safe, it makes zero sense to me....it is like they're speaking a different language. Can you make a detailed video, if possible, about what to look for as far as malware, etc...how to protect ourselves when it comes to using a pw manager? I appreciate this channel. Ty
Hi there!
I have a few videos around password managers which might be worth checking out.
But ultimately, the answer is the same, as long as you get a good password manager. (Just steer clear of LastPass).
Use randomly generated passwords for everything and store them in your password manager.
Use a difficult to guess password to protect the password manager itself, and ideally get a Yubikey to prevent anyone else signing in to your password manager.
@PeteMatheson oh, hey
Thank you. Can the same key be used on an Android phone, tablet, and pc, or do I have to get different keys? It is pretty bad. There are so many scams. Amazon was hit again. Do all password managers have rolling passwords? Also, do pw managers allow 2fA or MFA? I appreciate your help. 🙂
P.s. I have a fingerprint reader.
Nah. I’ll go with Proton Pass.
I've hit 1167 on my Watchtower score.
Yeah ok
1088 but i have to fix some duplicates
1135 now
lets not use one but lets use another same. dont use. make your own. you not want give your password someone else made app. saved on cloud or local.
if answer is local. then make own manager. if answer is cloud is ready to hacked LOL
banging my head against the wall...
Vaultwarden >>>

Choose don’t recommend this channel to keep this stuff out of your feed.

4:36 They completed a security blah blah blah. I remember years ago some site said they had three different security companies audits. I was able to accidentally find a security hole.
I can not emphasize enough how ridiculous it is for someone to *accidentally* find a security hole.
The bottom line is that a lot of sites claim they are secure.
The End.
How do all these password managers cope with complicated login screens such as used by banks, when the login might stretch over a few screens and request random characters from some long (forgotten?) key word ? Roboform can do it, but this is something that I've never seen mentioned by any reviewer ever. I get the impression, that people keep the most valuable passwords on paper ... Am I correct ? There seems to be little point in creating a review and ignoring the most important use for password managers !
Most password managers take care of these additional fields.
With 1Password, their auto-fill will advance automatically as well.
Username - Enter. Wait for page to load.
Password - Enter. Wait for page to load.
Enter security characters, or 2FA - Enter.
All automatically.
Downvoted!!!🎉
Will say it again, the watchtower scoring is a joke 😁
Giving a higher score for lesser security is a joke. Storing MFA tokens in the same location isn't better 😝
score 1127
samsung pass
OK, be honest: who's still using their built-in Password Manager? Like Apple Keychain, Google Chrome, or Samsung Knox?
Apple keychain is perfectly fine if you use the rest of the ecosystem exclusively or windows in addition to your Apple phone / tablet.
I use the Microsoft Authenticator
Apple Keychain is great.
@@poi8961 You can now run iCloud Passwords in Windows (for about a year or so), in MacOS Sonoma you can now use iCloud Keychain in other browsers (Chromium based, Edge, Chrome, Arc, Opera, etc).
I never used a browser password manager, and I have never been involved with Apple products. I didn't start using password managers until about 3 years ago with KeepassXC.
Are These even free?
Bitwarden mostly is free, with a very cheap premium option for extra features that most casual users won't need. I think keepass is fully free as of right now.
"never been breached..." - that you know of...
Hey Pete! I really enjoy watching your videos! Great job you are doing, please keep it up! I was recently also looking for a password manager for myself and for my family. Here is what I have found and in my opinion, they belongs to the best available currently in the market: Locker Password Manager, pCloud Pass & HeyLogin. The best about these Password Managers is, that all have free plans, which I believe could be more than enough for most users. If not, they have very affordable plans in my opinion. Really worth checking out all of them in my opinion!
Thanks Tom! I haven't heard of a couple of those, but will add them to the list for the full round up for the next comparison video - appreciated! Massive thanks for watching and commenting, always great to hear people enjoy the vids!
In my opinion.
I use keepass clients. There’s one for pretty much every platform and you can move your database around to wherever you want and even have separate databases to keep your life compartmented and tidy! Win/win.
