Thank you so much for using the "why don't you explain this to me like I'm 5" approach. You've done a terrific job. My 6-year-old son and I are building a game together and he is able to follow along thanks to how simple and precise you have made this process. Great tutorial
From the bottom of my heart you seem like one of the best RUclips tutorial makers out of there. Simple, to the point, no unnecessary dragging of time, even tho it’s a long vid/series. Just pure class
These videos are not only informative, they're very relaxing to have on in the background and listen to whilst working on something else. Thank you for making them!
@@ronnieketchum1241 Not much, it's informative if you're listening with focus, and it's relaxing if you're playing it in the background. That is basically what I meant with the original comment.

Hey Thundaga! So happy that you're bringing this series back again! Your last one was amazing. I have a question for those here as well as our amazing content creator. So, I've got my sprite for a new Pokémon in the correct position in the game I'm making but whenever it is attacked or it attacks, the moves look like they are coming from or hitting something in the sky above the enemy nameplate... any ideas as to why?
I know. It’s crazy to think that when the original series started off and I started watching it, I was in middle school. Now I’m graduating this year. Time can fly lol, even six years.

Very nice to see you update this tutorial for the newest pokemon essentials version. I wanted to get into creating a small pokemon game to start off after watching your old tutorials but I'll wait a bit to see what QoL changes were made in v20 to work a bit more efficiently.
oh lord, i just went to reddit to get help because encounters wont work, and i got the most bs convoluted response possible that didnt even work, i cant wait for the episode on that
With map connections how do you know how many to have linked? Like the entire outside part of the region is not one giant map connection…right? Or would it end up being one giant connection at the end
Thats up to you. When I set up new routes, I use the "transfer player" option similar to episode 1 of entering a house rather than map connections. Usually not all maps are connected. Such as caves, forest, or npc houses
I don't know what it is about gen 3 tilesets but it feels very cozy, it's like looking at a different version of firered and ruby with each of these games.
@Thundaga, i know its been years and some things are bound to have changed but your old guides are still pretty safe to use as long as I exercise caution, right? I do comparisons with what I see in V20 and it doesn't look too foreign. Been anxious to give Essentials a shot but I know its going to be awhile before you'll be able make revised videos that cover the range of your old series.
Absolutely, those tutorials aren't obsolete, just in some instances things wont always match up word for word, you may need to hit up the relic page from time to time for help with commands. have a good day :)
I'm so mad I've been watching the old how to tutorial from 7 YEARS AGO I've been having to figure out how to get to options on the new version of pokemon essential
You can go to the map properties and increase the width and height. You can move the entire map around by using the "Select tool" and holding "CTRL + A" to move the whole kap around with your mouse. As for two different maps, I don't know if this possible
Question, im watching these for their intended purpose. As it seems youre redoing the list from 7 years ago, would I need to start somewhere in that list once i finish these tutorials? Also outside of learning the program how far if at all would or should I plan out my "world" before putting anything into creation.

Hello ! First thx for your vids ! It's so clear ! I have a question : when I want to connect 2 maps like you did, I may press A and it doesn't do anything. Can you help me please ?
I have a question: When I make a new map and connect it to the others, I notice that I now have invisible routes. Is there a way to update the town map that doesn't involve opening up a photo editing tool or...?
I was trying to make an One Piece and a Star Wars hackrom, but damn, it's too hard to make graphics for them... in the end, I gave up... but who knows in the future
in theory yes? I dont think it's as simple as just smashing maps into the game and trying to connect them though, you'll need to remake everything with the tilesets from each game
If I were to want to make a Gen 1 fan game, is there a way I could just drop a Kanto map file in the program? Or would I have to build it completely from scratch?
Hey there! I have just started and I´m quite noob at this, so I would appreciate anyone´s help haha I didn´t really understood how to avoid the lag when connecting maps. I´ve had a read at the wiki: "If you have a large map, you may want to divide that map up into "chunks" to help reduce lag by having less map/event data loaded at once. You can also take advantage of this possibility to have different wild encounters in different parts of the same location." Does that mean I need to let chunks between maps with events or somehow make a teleport or something to another map?
Hey I have a question before I will start getting into it deeper and buy rpg maker etc. is there a method to add new points to fly to. And is there a update to the map, with map I mean the in game map. Thanks for answer me
Quick question about map connections and events. If I have a parallel process event running in the background, then I leave the map that has the parallel process event using a connected map, I noticed that the parallel process event still runs, even though I'm not on that map anymore. Also, if I use an "Erase Event" command, leave the map using a connected map and then come back, the event doesn't respawn. Is there any way to fix that?
That is done when testing the game from RPG Maker within the debug menu. Ingame bring up the start menu or select the debug menu from the title screen. You'll want to find 'Edit Map Metadata' (depending on the version it's located in different sections of the menu). You can set it by editing location name and show location options.
I have a problem that I can't solve, I created an event for the main plot of my game, the race must challenge me, if I win everything goes as it should go, while if I lose I go back to mom's house but gary's script continues as if I had won, if I lose how do I restart the event without it disappearing?
Check the Faraday Island Map, I believe what they do with mew is something you can use. As in the outcome is stored in some variable and then you make whatever happens after the event (like rechallanging) depending on "is variable = x" on two seperate event pages. So variable = 1 = won, autorun victory talk, variable = 2 = loss = give option to repeat race/battle.
