The French Army does know how to fight. A recent example of this was on the 27th of May 1995 in Sarajevo Bosnia when a group of Bosnian Serbs dressed up as UN soldiers took over a bridge at Verbanja from French soldiers serving as part of the UN forces. The French response was immediate. The Captain François Lecointre of the 3° RIMa led a bayonet charge and took back the bridge. Following the battle, VRS forces were observed to be less likely to engage French UN peacekeepers deployed in the city. Lecointre is now general and is since 2017 Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Armed Forces.

Это саперы. В легионе это церемониальная рота. Для парадов и прочего.
