    It’s cool not gonna lie, I always am down for new musical innovations and I like that it’s different than a guitar and a banjo. That being said, banjo is just way cooler to me personally and has a totally different vibe with those steel finger picks and rolls and that high pitched/short fifth string.

    Sweet Caroline seems appropriate for this instrument, Dixieland Jazz works on this instrument too (even Gershwin music) because back in the 1920s and 30s before we had Guitar amps, we had Banjitars & the Drum body acted like a really loud amplifier making it easier to compete with the horns.

      fer hamza Here's a tip. Find a song you love that uses barre chords (preferably a song that isn't too hard) and stick with it until you get it down (doing it with a song you love ads a layer of determination). I used Dani California by RHCP (which is pretty easy for barre chord beginners) and that's what worked for me.

      Roll your baring finger to the inside. It is flatter and harder than the pads of your fingers..and the joints work in your favor rather than against you. That's from one of Marty's videos. Sign up for his newsletter.

      When I was a beginner learning barre chords, I found a video, where Marty shared a tip (he said that 6-yrs old or so girld could do barre chords using it - and it worked!).
      What you do is: You don't only use your finger, and your palm. Instead, form a chord with your hand and then use your shoulders to create the necessary tension. With your right hand press against the guitar body and with your left hand press against the fretboard while pulling your shoulder back.

      The 6 String Banjo doesn't have drone strings so you can play in every key w/o retuning. It's more closely related to the Tenor & Plectrum Banjos which were originally meant for Jazz because this goes back to the 1920s and 30s before we had amplification.

    I play a banjo tar in a 1920’s jazz orchestra. It’s all fast strumming. To imitate the tenor banjo sound I replaced the E and A bass strings with high E and B strings, sort of a modified Nashville tuning.

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 3 года назад +1

      Nashville Tuning String Set (with an Octave4Plus .006 High B) actually makes your Banjitar sound like a Tenor Bnajo when you strum.

      @RockStarOscarStern634 3 года назад +1

      You've played the Banjitar in a Jazz Orchestra during the 1920s? Wow the Banjitar was meant to be in that setting. I think the manual said that "If you replace the 2 lowest strings with another set of the 2 highest strings (tune the B down a step for your A String), you can emulate a Tenor Banjo sound.

    Hey Marty. I'm thinking on getting a used amp. I'd like to spend 300-350 dollars. Do you know if it's worth getting a tube amp or is the maintenance costly? I need something with a headphone jack so then I feel like solid state might be better... I'm still undecided. Any recommendations?
