Kind regards
Hope you can also review a Peavey Power Slide, they look sooo cooool!
Marty Music could you do curtis low on accustic guitar
Please do part 2 of the comfortably numb solo!!!!!!!
Would love to hear your version of love came here by lhasa de sela. really appreciate your channel and your way of teaching!! thanks!!
I bet a slide and open tunings would be wild
Chris Fann regular banjos are in g open to begin with
I've been thinking about getting a 6 string and using the 6th string like a normal banjos 5th string and being able to use the extra string for either a higher or lower string to make the open G chord bigger
@@Artorias001 There is way less sustain in the sound than the 5 string banjos .. And i dont know if thats because of the type of the strings. It sounds way more flat to me..
@@janvandyk4341 that makes since because there is more mass on a 6 string compared to a 5 string so there's more to kill the tone
@@janvandyk4341 yes agreed could be a combination of heavier gauge strings different tuning plus it's only a budget instrument I've heard Neil Young play one and it sounded amazing like normal 5 string. I'm sure Neil's wasn't a $200 Dean. But as he says just for the odd song here and there would be a nice flavour to add to guitar sound.
Still can't get over the fact that he can rock that "guitarjo"
Because it’s a guitar...
@@aarongensler2149no it is a banjar
Mario Cassina it is a bangojuitar
Banjitar...
Banjotar. Its still technically a banjo by definition, number of strings, tuning is irrelevant.
It’s cool not gonna lie, I always am down for new musical innovations and I like that it’s different than a guitar and a banjo. That being said, banjo is just way cooler to me personally and has a totally different vibe with those steel finger picks and rolls and that high pitched/short fifth string.
Neil Young's Through the Turnstiles brought me here!
Sweet Caroline seems appropriate for this instrument, Dixieland Jazz works on this instrument too (even Gershwin music) because back in the 1920s and 30s before we had Guitar amps, we had Banjitars & the Drum body acted like a really loud amplifier making it easier to compete with the horns.
The Dropkick Murphys fan in me is going crazy
I just wanted to say your videos are great. I've learned lots of riffs from you starting in 2014 when I ran across one of your lessons. I'm still a beginner and my first lesson was iron man then TNT. I've used Rocksmith and jamplay and get bored easily with them, but you always have great humor and make it fun by playing real songs and I just want to thank you for keeping me motivated. Keep rockin'
Absolutely love the 6 string banjo parts in Neil Young's "Old Man". Adds just the right flavor to his sound.
his live version of Mellow My Mind is done solo with a six string banjo. i went from disinterested in banjos to completely captivated by them after hearing this ruclips.net/video/tYJaVu0ddAM/видео.html&frags=pl%2Cwn
I bought a R. W. Jamerson about a year ago it came with bronze strings that made it too guitar like. Imediatly switched to 38--8 ultra lights that I also have on a Tele and it made a super difference. Keep on twangin.
you the man's marty... years on and ya got me playing like a pro! 👌
I got one of these last Christmas! so much fun!
New Genre, Heavy Metal Blue Grass!
Perhaps someone would lend you a National Steel or Dobro to review.
Ray Ross You mean like heavy-grass....?
Heavy Grass, the new Cheech & Chong movie.
Blue Metal!
look up slayer on banjo rob scallon. not sure how to spell his last name. hes awesome.
Hayseed Dixie...check em out 🤣
i went to my local music store and they had one of these and it was by far one of the most fun things ive ever played next to an actual banjo
Thanks for the super thorough review of the bantar/guitarjo (lol, they definitely need a less dorky name for these). I've been tossing up getting one of these for a few months, thinking it would really complement the style of music I'm writing (without having to relearn another instrument). It was great to see you demonstrate so many different styles of playing it. I'm sold!
I had the chance to try one of these out recently at a local music store. It was AWESOME. Amazing just how much you can do with them. A lot of very unique and interesting sounds in it, for sure. Mag have to pick one up
SOLD !
I'm gettn a six-string Banjo.
You make it look so easy Marty.
Thanks for this great vid, and all of the vids you do. You are the best !
Awesome video,Keep it up!
I like it. I have 3 Dean acoustics. Absolutely great guitars. Dont know why they're not more popular. Cool video Marty
5:06 Rob Scallon?
yes hes got slayer songs on banjo!
No it fucking fly me to the moon.
PS. JOKE
Enter sandman ;)
Fattboyzz 1 no what?
Amazing work Marty!
Hey Marty, i'm a beginner at guitar and you have really helped me. I thank you for all your great lessons and funny little vids, you deserve way more subscribers. I am going to buy a eukele, "still can't spell it" and was hoping you can do a video on one? Have a great day!
Getting one of these this week!
Marty you should try the sitar guitar (if you havent already)
i really wish you'd make a barre chords lesson for beginners
fer hamza I struggled with it too like everyone. Just keep doing it every day it takes a lot of practice
fer hamza Here's a tip. Find a song you love that uses barre chords (preferably a song that isn't too hard) and stick with it until you get it down (doing it with a song you love ads a layer of determination). I used Dani California by RHCP (which is pretty easy for barre chord beginners) and that's what worked for me.
Roll your baring finger to the inside. It is flatter and harder than the pads of your fingers..and the joints work in your favor rather than against you. That's from one of Marty's videos. Sign up for his newsletter.
When I was a beginner learning barre chords, I found a video, where Marty shared a tip (he said that 6-yrs old or so girld could do barre chords using it - and it worked!).
What you do is: You don't only use your finger, and your palm. Instead, form a chord with your hand and then use your shoulders to create the necessary tension. With your right hand press against the guitar body and with your left hand press against the fretboard while pulling your shoulder back.
feroui hamza and a
Awesome!
That just looks like fun!
The funnest thing about this is to know that you have it.
I picked up one of these a few days ago at guitar center in the used section and the only difference is mines clear instead of white. I thought it was really unique so I couldn’t pass it up lol bought some new strings for it and I love it.
I love this. Easy like guitar. Sounds like a banjo. Who cares what anyone thinks? James Taylor rocks this on Neil Young's "Old Man."
I have the same deans banjitar the bw6. Just love the sound n wish to see more lessons on it. I'm thinking of adding a pick up on it to amp it up lol. Just love the channel so far n keep it up the good work.
Having played both banjo and ganjo, I can happily say that the regular banjo is much more fun lmao
sounds real nice
I love it
Thanks for making this video! I just bought one of these about a month ago at a pawn shop. You did a fantastic job of explaining what the f*** This thing actually is!
simply great!!!!!!!!!!!! would love playing and jamming with that! :D
my mum accidentally got me one of these instead of an actual banjo for Christmas unfortunately, but ive been trying to play banjo songs on it
Wow nice, I just got a banjitar. Love it
That's great that now you have a Banjo guitar )))
Would love to hear more Jerry tunes on the six string banjo with lessons.
Banger
all hail Marty
nice dueling banjos from deliverance there. hilarious
Yes Marty
I play 5 string so a little different, but usually is you’re having problems with the strings ringing out too much, tighten the head a little. I use a drum dial and set it +-90
That instrument would be just perfect for tracking/recording a jazz big band, with some tunes from the Swing Era
cooooool marty i love it
Johnny St Cyr played one as did Django Reinhardt.
I need to get this and play slash solos on it :))
Bustin' out some "Friend of the Devil"! Nice... I've been playing Gitfiddle for quite some time, and always wanted to venture into traditional Banjo. But, Marty... You just sold me on the 6-string. Lol
The 6 String Banjo doesn't have drone strings so you can play in every key w/o retuning. It's more closely related to the Tenor & Plectrum Banjos which were originally meant for Jazz because this goes back to the 1920s and 30s before we had amplification.
Marty. I'd love you to do a version of the Eagles "Journey of the Sorcerer". It would sound great on this guitar-jo!
Cool stuff :)
Id love to see a lesson on "are you experienced?" by hendrix and the solo to "look at little sister" by vaughan
awesome
loved when you jumped into friend of the devil!
Marty you are the best
It will be awesome if you play some pantera riffs on the Dean Banjo
Nice video Thanks...
I feel like if I saw a Nashville street performer playing one of these I would definetely beat them up.
Steve Howe's The Clap would sound great in one of those.
I play a banjo tar in a 1920’s jazz orchestra. It’s all fast strumming. To imitate the tenor banjo sound I replaced the E and A bass strings with high E and B strings, sort of a modified Nashville tuning.
Nashville Tuning String Set (with an Octave4Plus .006 High B) actually makes your Banjitar sound like a Tenor Bnajo when you strum.
You've played the Banjitar in a Jazz Orchestra during the 1920s? Wow the Banjitar was meant to be in that setting. I think the manual said that "If you replace the 2 lowest strings with another set of the 2 highest strings (tune the B down a step for your A String), you can emulate a Tenor Banjo sound.
Hey Marty , how about you make a video about how you learnt the guitar back then and how much did you practice , and also some essential/recommended exercises for beginners or intermediates in order to inspire and motivate the beginners , some people would appreciate that , also me ;)
Nice that you started with "dueling banjos"
There's something very awesome in a Banjo's sound (or Banjo guitars ;) )...
Awesome. I bet old Jerry would have dug one of those. He was a masterful banjo player long before he was with the dead. (~);} ✌️
I bet he would've broke this trash in many pieces.
love your videos you are the best guitar instructor ever. My uncle recommended you and I looked you up by far the best guitar instructor on youtube. love your vids keep it up
Marty you are the man!! Learned to play from you about a decade ago! What’s the tuning for this?
I like it, good hillbilly ax
I want to see Marty play the drums.
after seeing this, Marty, you have to do a lesson on Squeezebox by the Who.
Marty, I know you wouldn't normally teach something like this, but can you do the shadow of the colossus theme song?
The Banjitar is fully Chromatic. Unlike the 5 String Banjo, you can play in every Key without re-tuning, & you can even use your Guitar capo too.
make in bloom solo tutorial on guitar
Lay Down Sally by Eric Clapton next? I've been trying to learn it (the correct way) but everyone plays it on 1 guitar. If you could help teach it using the 2 guitar method the way Eric Clapton plays it that would be awesome. If not, no worries man, I love what you're doing.
Great video. What kind of strings do you put on it?
Little hard to do Cripple Creek
I have one (not the same brand or anything) and honestly it is VERY hard to play as a guitarist. The action is so high, the strings feel so tight lol
Main solo & outro solo from "Iron Man" by black sabbath please Marty Man!😂🎸
What strings would you buy for the banjo guitar please thank you
I recently bought a beginners guitar and have been following your lessons, I also happen to have that same banjo I bought for $50 at an estate sale... would I just play both along with your lessons then? I didn't realize the banjo we own is a guitar banjo till now.
What song were you playing in the beginning?
can u do a tutorial of "All Around The World" by Oasis, since it sends a message saying "everything's gonna be OK" and it's from Manchester and all the shit that went down in Manchester, I think it is a good time to do a tutorial on that and send a message
actually lve forever may be better
I'd love to hear this thing in open G or D with a slide
It's bluesy, & this was originally used in Jazz because in the 1920s and 30s before we had Guitar amps we had Banjitars. Guitarists & Banjoists crossing over resulted in the Banjitr, & there's another hybrid instrument the Tenor Guitar which is a Tenor Banjo neck on a Guitar body.
Just don't play it around a bunch of blue grass pickers. You might get shot. Lol. Around the 07:30 mark you made it sound what I think it was designed for..nice job
It's more appropriate for doubling parts.
Cool vid! Do you have any sitar guitars?
I'd call it the BANTAR... ayeeeeeee
You know it’s good if Marty makes a face while playing lol
I need one of these! As a guitar player myself (from jump fingerpicking smoothly on my classical to sweep picking on my Jackson Kelly & practicing every speed metal riff all these years) I just now literally inherited a 5 string banjo, and for the life of me, cannot play a simple 3-2-5-2-3-2-5-1-3-banjo roll, It'll take a few tries to learn the GDGBD tuning, so I must say this is a "cheating banjo" Lol
Marty you playing blues on banjo
could you do a Duelling Banjos tutorial please?
Do a lesson for Blue Ain't Your Colour by Keith Urban
Hey Marty, could you please do "would?" by alice in chains? Thanks
Martyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! i was just looking for reviews on these Marty is the best. I have to donate, Marty for President T-Shirt or ssomething :-)
DELIVERAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNCEEEEEEEEEE
I've actually been calling it a Ganjo for ages....since I saw Keith Urban playing it lol
Hey Marty. I'm thinking on getting a used amp. I'd like to spend 300-350 dollars. Do you know if it's worth getting a tube amp or is the maintenance costly? I need something with a headphone jack so then I feel like solid state might be better... I'm still undecided. Any recommendations?
I called it a bantar
I was thinking about buy one, but im not sure.. would a slide work on it ? lol
Loved it
Hey what is that song that you played in the beginning called
Nice video. I play guitar, and I wanna ask You. What is the tuning for this guitar banjo?, Amy way I appreciate your help.
