Tom inspired me to pick up a guitar ay age 15 after playing bass since about 11 years old. I am no shredder by any means and alot of my friends are. They cant seem to play some of the more quirky fast downpicking riffs tom has created.
I like to think that Blink has this song under the hoods just as a hidden treasure for us the true fans. They have never played this song in converts and it's not available in any stream platform (spotify, youtube music, deezer, apple music, amazon music, etc.)

I think I read that Tom didn’t even want to write this record. He wanted to explore new styles, but the record company wanted Enema part 2. He wrote First Date out of spite because they didn’t have any “catchy summer songs”

Regardless of how good blink/this song is, it's purely the sound Jerry Finn was able to get from their amps/drums and his meticulousness in spending hours to do it. Without him the blink we know wouldn't have been as prominent as they were for their breakout albums.

If you only released an album every two years wouldn’t you want to be involved with the album artwork? At least I believe that.

It's an easter egg they did on the cover/title of each record to maintain an alphabetical order. Flyswatter (the demo tape) has an "A" on its cover. Buddha starts with a "B". Cheshire Cat ("C'), Dude Ranch ("D"), Enema of The State ("E), The Mark, Tom and Travis Show has the Famous Stars and Straps logo on Travis' bass drum (a "F" letter), and thus TOYPAJ had this "G" to continue the alphabetical trend on blink's discography. They didn't have any "H" on self-titled, but if you check the Neighborhoods artwork, there's a "J" graffitied in one of the buildings. ("I" probably was meant for the Greatest Hits record).
