غیب کی تعریف جو حضور شیخ الاسلام نے کی ہے بہت منفرد ہے اور معقول ہے۔ عقل اس تعریف کو قبول کرتی ہے۔
آئمہ لغت کے مطابق حواس خمسہ اور عقل کی دسترس سے ماوراء شئے کو غیب کہتے ہیں۔ یہ عربی کا لفظ ہے عربی زبان میں ہی سمجھنا چاہیے
ہم اردو کا لفظ سمجھ کر اپنی ہی زبان میں اس کا من گھڑت معنی تلاش کرتے ہیں ۔ اس وجہ سے علم غیب اور علم مصطفے' صلی اللّٰہ علیہ وسلم سمجھنے میں کافی مغالطے پیدا ہوئے

سبحان اللہ غیب کا معنی آج تک ہم یہی سمجھتے تھے کہ جو موجود نہ ہو لیکن سیدی شیخ الاسلام نے کیا خوب فرمایا کہ غیب اس کو کہتے ہیں جو موجود ہو لیکن مشہود نہ ہو
غیب "چھپی ہوئی" یا "پوشیدہ چیز"۔ اسلامی اصطلاح میں، غیب وہ حقائق اور چیزیں ہیں جو انسانی حواس سے پوشیدہ ہیں اور جنہیں صرف اللہ تعالیٰ جانتا ہے۔
Shaykh ul Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri says that the word "غیب" (Ghaib) in Arabic does not mean something that does not exist, but rather something that exists but is not visible. For example, we cannot see Allah with our own eyes, but that does not mean that Allah does not exist. He says that many things in the universe exist but are not visible to us and that faith teaches us to believe in these unseen things.

حضور شیخ الاسلام نے انتہائی مشکل علمی نکتہ عام فہم انداذ میں بیان کیا ھے۔۔ کیوں کہ عام طور پر لوگ غیب کا معانی یہی سمجھتے تھے کہ جو چیز ہمارے سامنے یا علم میں نہیں تو کسی دوسرے کے علم میں بھی نہیں ہے۔۔
