Jamerrill, My Sweet Mother-in-law Cheri always told me , when you can anything and you hear the jar pop after you remove it from the canner, you say thank you to God, because it is from his Grace that you have the food , the ability to can and you have sealed jars! Just thought I'd pass this on. Have a Great Day and God bless!!

I started watching this video 2 days ago and just finished it today. I love how you question yourself and ask all the right questions about am I just following the trends? In reality, way before I had children I came across your channel and now I’m committed to following you because the way you are living today in age really does grasp the understanding of simplicity and truly understand how much we can actually do with our hands and feet. The Lord is Our Shepherd we shall not want. You’ve been so inspiring to me. I see how much you do because you love your children that kind of living just shows how much you love what God has blessed you with. You can be doing anything you desire and still provide a meal for your children . We all have those moments where we have to reverse some things for temporary reasons to get our life situated again. Then once you grab a hold of everything with Gods help. You have clarity once again of your true purpose as a mother and provider. You provide the best you can with what you have. That’s the best gift we can give our children. I cannot say I grew up with my mother making homemade bread or cookies for me as a kid but those are things I want to bring to my table as a young mother and a homemaker in our household. Like you said you and your children tended the flock of chickens. So meaning you can do it again. I’m proud of you. At the end they can carry those gifts and pleasures of truly seeing their mother showing them true knowledge of this world to survive and get the best in life by working hard with your hands and feet to make ends meet. When life hits you to the ground all that is left to do is get back up and try even harder. May the Lord provide for you all the abundant strength you need to keep on keeping on.
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬
When we don’t know what tomorrow brings we can only do what we can for today striving to make the best out of today because we aren’t promised tomorrow. Today I praise you and all your hard work and dedication. Giving your children what you longed for as a child and believing it’ll be beneficial for them in the long run. I believe it will be important. I’m taking a lot of your knowledge and instilling it into my own homemaking so thank you. Even though you don’t know how many people you inspire I’m here to make it known how much of a blessing you’ve been to this momma 🤍💚 thank you!!!

So while I've done laundry, rearranged my livingroom, made a coffee, made list, went thru my 2 freezers, whew, lol. Well I found a whole chicken, leftover bones, a frozen meal from 1 of the holidays and some frozen produce I cut up and bagged just for broth. So now I'm setting up a Jamerrill get r dun list. Baked chicken Sunday, roast bones and veggies late afternoon, Monday get the broth going and get my canning supplies out, dust off what I have canned from last winter and summer. Make some space. I just pray I can keep up with my Olympic mind 😂 Blessings y'all and much love!

Between everyone in the family getting sick with Norovirus, some other various family health emergencies, snowstorm then icestorm then snowstorm, 2 power outages, 1 water outage, no trash pickup for 3 weeks and literally getting snowed in on our winding country road farm, I just restarted 2025 on January 31st. Or was it January 77th? 🫠 Either way, I am right there with ya! And with the help of the Good Lord and the Walmart, we are doin the thing! 🎉 Thanks for always being authentically you and sharing motivation and inspiration! 🤩

We raised meat birds, but had someone else, a small business, run by two of the nicest young men, to earn money for college, do the processing. We didn't have to worry about the mess, icing them down, or lower the body temperature. Besides those benefits, I loved supporting their small business. We learned to make the processing appointment while the chickens were baby chicks, so it didn't book up, making us have to do it ourselves or try to find another butcher. Our first year, we couldn't get an appointment until the last day they were opened for the year; so our chickens weighed in at 18-20 pounds, each, after processing! Our turkeys weighed over 35 lbs each, after processing! They were so big we had to use a saw to cut them in half, down the middle, and cook them in two separate pots! My grandmother visited, and we showed her our frozen chickens, she raised chickens all her life; and she was shocked they lived! When a chicken gets so large, it can break it's legs, from the weight! We learned to put their feed up at the top of a couple ramps, so they got stronger, by having to exercise to eat! You could check with your farm education office, to see if they can recommend butchers. It would have been better to have the butcher come to us, but we didn't have that option.

Well done Jamerrill, you are kicking 2025 just where you need to. I love tallow for my skin, lips, face and my hair. Sometimes I'll whip it, sometimes I just use a "momma" jar from the fridge - use less than you think, warm it in your hands before popping onto your body or using it on the ends of your hair - also makes an amazing face or hair mask - just use a small amount warmed in your hands - ooh and an amazing overnight cuticle/hand mask. I also use lard but tallow is definitely my favourite - remember less is more. Enjoy putting one foot in front of the other and forge yourself a new path for the life you want now, best wishes deom England, UK

Don't skim the fat off. Use a slotted spoon. Wipe your jars off with vinegar. There were not enough bones in your broth. It would have jelled more, then pulling off the fat wound have been easy. I buy chicken feet from a poultry farmer. 50 lbs at a time to add to my pot .Just a few tips. ❤❤❤

I just did some of this last week. Not to the extent that you do but I had the bony parts of chickens I raised and had processed during the summer. I cooked it all down and canned 10 quarts of chicken stock. I also had end of the season tomatoes and peppers stored in my freezer so I cooked them down and canned about 10 quarts of tomato sauce. It felt good to can in January and to clear out space in my freezer.

You are not alone with the not remembering how you used stuff or even recipes. I do to. And have for a long while. So all good. There are many of us I am sure :) Line dancing is good excercise and very gentle on us too. I love it. I need to start going again. I have the memories to of all that we did for our family and Man. And that was never appreciatted by the Man really. Although it felt like it was. So yes it hurts horrid. However we can't control that they forgot all that yet at the time it was good for them. And we have the special ones that do. so yes lets go 2025. And look at you just doing all the things and thinking of more stuff to do. That is our Jamerrill. You are conquering this. I am trying to come back to meto and I have said this many times. You are giving me the inspiration. We will. hugs and love

How was the Dr able to determine that you had high levels of inflammation in your body? Were there certain blood tests or other testing that showed this? I love that with your nursing background you are able to really understand and create a treatment plan along with your medical team.

Yes, I have regular blood work 2-3 times a years. He pulled a reading called hs-CRP and mine was 5.7 in summer 2024 which is high risk.

I have found cheap 2-qt pitchers from Dollar Tree are very useful - I use them to hold my gallon sized ziplocs while I fill them, I use them as scoops when transferring broth from my roaster/pot to my jars, they also hold enough water to fill my jars when doing veg .... plus I can use them for serving drinks, who knew ... lol. I like to watch "Homesteading with the Zimmermans" on RUclips as well - she also has lots of good canning videos, as well as "Half Acre Homestead", Bev has been teaching about canning (in Canada) for DECADES!

Have you considered using your freeze dryer to freeze dry broth? It takes so much less space.

I don’t have my freezer drier back up and running. My focus 3 for 2025 are Freezer meals, canning, and sourdough 🙌🏻💗

Not now, but maybe use the tallow and lard for candles and soap after you get where you're going. Like any of us knows where that is, right? Forwards as good a direction anyways. 😊

I just added chicken feet to my bone broth. They told me to cut the “nails”off, not sure what they’re called. I almost passed out, they looked like baby fingers. Had to sit down and drink cold water..true story 😂
