    Love the potential for this to be themed just to mix it up! Such as . . . "cues can only be Christmas related" or "things you would normally find outside".

      I think BGG calls them "targeted clues" for the mechanic. I agree, the genre needs a catchy descriptive name.

    Hi James! I just got Hues and Cues and can't wait to play. Regarding the clues,, you said not to say obvious clues like blue or red, but can you name fruits that are the color of the squares? The colorshades are so diverse I'm not even sure I'll be able to think of clues to describe some of them.

    Well, this looks like a great party game. Trouble is, I don’t really go in for party games, but I always love watching you work. So I watched it through. But this is not going on the list. But did I mention that I backed Nemisis Lock Down All in? since i was sad that I had missed game and could not find a reasonable price for the game. 😆

      Watch It Played I found a few bootleg copes but the price of the bootleg copy of JUST the core came is more than the cost of “All In” backing he KS. I can wait until 2021 to get it and save that much money. I have waited a while already. I saw it on a Facebook post and started looking and it was like love at first sight.... Sort of like when I saw your video on Court of the Dead, still one of our all time favorites, and Watergate, which I know you have a fondness for. And Yes.... I know I said “NO MORE KICKSTARTER GAMES.” but, it’s only money...right??

    Important question, what stops the cue giver from giving a really bad cue to guarantee that no one else scores points? One could choose to do this if it is the last round for example and they really want to keep their lead.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  2 года назад +2

      A tough question to answer - hopefully the desire to play the game as intended prevents this.

  • @LegoAssassin098
    @LegoAssassin098 4 года назад +5

    I prefer to do the variant by Tom Vasel, where the cue giver does NOT look at the location of their color on the board until AFTER the first cue. They then can look at the board before the second cue.
    This makes it a little more difficult for the cue giver without context of the other colors around that color. This also makes it more "off the cuff" and a little more random and a little more fun and a tad more argumentative ("Why would you say Forest when there was obviously the Forest Green 2 spaces over?!")
    But to each, their own!

  • @mikamoehidin2800

    Excuse me i have a question about the scoring, what if the clue giver pick a color at the corner of the board ( if playing without using the color card ), Can the scoring box placed overlapping the board?, and is there a chance that the color card would be at the corner of the board?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  3 года назад

      I don't think you're meant to overlap that way.

  • @katiemiller8313
    @katiemiller8313 2 года назад

    We couldn't find the 3 player variant rule in the rulebook. (That the clue giver gets two points for each cone in the box.) Where is this coming from?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  2 года назад

      They updated the rulebook to include this. Sometimes rulebooks get updated after release, and since we work directly with the publisher, sometimes our videos are more up to date than the printed rules. boardgamegeek.com/thread/2468942/official-unofficial-faq-rules-clarification

      @@WatchItPlayed although I do like the design of this game, very colorful and unique; I never saw a game quite like this. Regarding about solo varients in boardgaming, I am a solo player myself on a count of my interest in playing board games solo is my own personal kind of hobby and I have lots of other games that I solo played myself, including games that must be played with others and that they aren't a solo type of game. I try to fight that logic that I can control all sides of the board (multipule playing pieces) but there are secret player game mechanics that just don't work when you have a game with cards to each player and must be kept secret among the other players. That and "bluffing" mechanics doesn't work well solo
