  • Don’t get it twisted, you can enjoy your season of singleness and still feel lonely and hopeless at many points in the journey. That journey is then made worse when you feel like the content directed to you is stating the obvious and condescending under the guise of being ‘advice’. So let’s talk about it sis.

I’m surprised at the anger in those comments! I’ve always found your videos to be encouraging and balanced. I don’t understand why you would be expected to speak on a married women’s experience when that is not a faze of life you’ve gone through yourself. I very much enjoy you and the podcast. Thank you!

I think there's a lot of frustration single women in church are feeling because they're constantly targeted and being told they need to be perfect for marriage. I think it's good your acknowledging that it exists, it's a shame cause I've seen this a lot in Nigerian churches

Trust me, I hear and i've felt. This is one of the reasons I've made the content I do for single women, we need the balance of content that doesn't tell us the solution to being single is preparing for a relationship

Thank you for this insightful and very balanced content. I've just turned 67, I'm a single Christian woman, retired and running my own tutoring business. I have a variety of interests/hobbies, that I do enjoy, but I do feel the pressures of not being married, not having that special someone to share my life with. I received two proposals during my life's journey, but both men were not right for me. I'm glad that I found your RUclips platform. I appreciate your frank and very honest views, particularly pertaining to the fact that it's not always rosy in the garden of singleness, as, like the rose, it has many thorns that can be very painful. I still have the desire to meet the right person for me and hopefully, one day, get married if it's God's will

But TRULY and honestly, no one really wants to be alone, we are designed and born to be with someone and being Single actually runs it's course really Fast and having a lot of friends still doesn't fill that void of having someone of your own, it's not the same as being in a relationship with someone, frustrated emotions just comes with hand in hand being Alone.

I appreciate that you are not apologizing for seeing the brighter side and adding positivity to such a negative space. Its not easy to do , but its always encouraging! I would love for you to do another video on the "ways" in which you put God first in your life in ALL aspects. Favorite bible plans, or books or scriptures etc.

i just wanna tell you that your content is good.i think people who are not happy with you encouraging other single women to continue living their best lives and to never settle for a man just for the sake of dating should look for their own people.

As someone who God has confirmed that I will get married I genuinely was wondering where the man was and maybe I wasn't in a space to be in a relationship because I felt like I was going backwards .I realized that I'm not doing the work to get a ring or to be with someone. This video was everything I needed thank you Courtney for sharing with usssssss. 😊

Exactly. I think people miss the point of singleness videos. Like you said, I believe most of these RUclipsrs are just helping single women feel comfortable and enjoy their single lives, not telling them they need to be single and this is how you stay that way.
Also, I am currently feeling the singleness blues. I am 31, no kids, and super introverted so it's been hard for me to find a man who will someday become my husband and get out there and date. It's become so bad I've started getting envious of every woman I know that has someone. I know that's a sign I'm needing a lot of work on myself, and your video helped me to see that I need to be comfortable with me first, and accept my current situation, so I can reduce those feelings of envy.

Great commentary! And on balance, if single women feel lonely and hopeless at various points in their lives, they are prepared for marriage. People seems to act like marriage is an end all of some kind, and I have witnessed over decades that it is not. I have seen more tragedy and despair among married and divorced women than single women. I am NOT saying that marriage can't be great as I have seen that too. Unfortunately though not as much happiness compared to misery and despair.

Those ladies definitely misunderstood you. The whole point of the video flew over their heads. I think it is because of their mental state. They view life based on a part of them that is frustrated/hasn’t healed and so they see everything through that lens and get easily triggered.

I’m coming from the perspective of being worried about singleness when I was 25 to being married a few laters then single again after a divorce.
I’ve not watched enough of your videos to say if those commenters had valid points about your particular videos but they did make some valid points.
In hindsight, it was ridiculous for me to have been as anxious as I was about single when I was 25. HOWEVER being single in your 30s is a completely different experience. The friends that you would have been able to enjoy time with have mostly all married and have children and don’t have time for you.
If you haven’t had a child by then, you also have the pressure/worry about your biological clock ticking and this alone is an extremely difficult thing to grapple with.
Women who are married are put on a pedastool like they have “won” at life.
In Christian circles, a single woman is viewed as an outcast who should be used for all her time to do all the jobs in the church that the married women don’t have time to do.
So I can understand where the commentators were coming from, especially the one who said she is older.

    • @CourtneyDaniella
      @CourtneyDaniella  Год назад +2

I completely hear you and not putting married women on a pedestal is one of the main reasons why I make some my content.
I create content to speak to my audience which is mostly women in my age group. I can only share from my experience which is being single in your early twenties and I try to make that clear through my content - that is is my experience and lesson I have learnt.
Thank you so much for your comment!

@@CourtneyDaniella thanks for your reply. I think then that the criticism of your videos is unfair. As an older woman myself I wouldn’t place certain viewing/listening expectations on someone who is a lot younger.
You seem to be doing a good job, so keep it up!
