6:40 As Matt Mercer said in the post-season Roundtable: "Grief bang is a real thing." In the campaign, Vax and Keyleth also had that "I don't want to be alone tonight" moment, and while it was more ambiguous than what we see in LOVM, it is still one of their more iconic moments and I'm glad that they included it here. And really, Percy would have wanted this for them.
Also, I think the point they were getting at there was that Vax realized from what Vex said that holding your heart back might lead to never getting your chance. So get some while you can, because you never know.
I would just like to mention that only 2 out of 3 of Grog's mental stats are way lower than average, his intelligence and his charisma, but his wisdom is actually higher than average. Meaning that Grog is very observant and aware of his surroundings, allowing him to be profound in moments despite his other mental shortcomings. Also he is a half-giant, teddy bear bean and we love him!
And I love that it helps work with the joke of Travis always having to stop being the dumb guy for 2 seconds because his party is having Choice Paralysis. He always goes "absolutely not" and destroys that when the others are struggling for too long with it
1:12 I haven’t checked to confirm this, but I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to be Talisin (the one who played Percy in the campaign and voices him in the show)
@ omg I love it and so on brand XD I loved the pyramid on the arm, it reminds me of one of the D&D beyond ads Sam did for Campaign 2 with the paper cut out faces of the cast and Talisin was just the pyramid
10:10 that's actually a real talent of Grog player with how he plays his characters. Grog has low int but about average wis. So what I like to describe it, he's like an adult with preschool kid level of attention and way of thinking. But when shit goes bad he's on the same level as everyone else, he just can't communicate it well every time. And Grog player played it so good in actual game, I'm really happy that they were able to show it in the show.
Vex was a badass for confronting her father and telling him about her and Percy (before he was killed), plus she admitted that she loved Percy more than anything
What's funny is in the campaign Liam (Vax) had NO clue that Larkin was Raishan. I can't remember if he was the only one but i remember he was the last to find out and it was bc everyone else told him 🤣
He WAS the only one. Well, everyone had their moment of realization, some sooner than others... but Liam NEVER DID until he was TOLD. He spent MULTIPLE EPISODES not realized Raishan was Larkin, planning sessions, time BETWEEN sessions, set up FOR the attack... never had a clue. Waiting for this rando NPC...
The funniest part is that he actually did know, but between making the initial plan and executing it the following week, he completely forgot that Larkin was Raishan.
I take it more as she's just "gently" reminding him how connected life and death are. Like "You might have to grieve this person. Be prepared just in case"
@15:25 That Larkin cover-up line was hilarious! Larkin is a character in the original podcast, back before they realized "he" was just one of the aliases Raishan was using to keep an eye on Vox Machina. Liam was always joking as if Vax never understood that fact, so having Vax be the one to make the excuse on Raishan's behalf makes the line even funnier. 😂
I was wondering how you might take Raishan delivering the news that Thordak burned Byroden. It was a change, where we'd learned it from Allura (far more trustworthy). Byroden was burned, as we saw in the S1 opening, so it had to be a red dragon like Thordak.
Just letting you know in case it's unintentional, the thumbnails on these last two videos have been off. This one has a picture from episode 7 and the one for episode 7 has a picture from episode 11
Wanna feel worse? Orthax still had claim to percy's soul, so upon his death, he was consumed and is at this moment one of those screaming, tortured souls we saw earlier this season. Wanna feel even more worse? Vax knows this, since he can see the fates of the dead, hes aware whats happening to Percy
To be fair though, you can’t sell your soul to the Goddess of Death and then continue to believe that your life still belongs to you. Vax’s wants and needs mean nothing compared to the will of the Matron, because that’s what he signed up for.
I really hate how they had to change the story with Raishan, because she was legitimately helpful in the campaign, and even helped killed the white dragon.
“Ant made me laugh so I’m feeling better.” Funeral starts.

@elbruces pretty much, yes. That and, as Keyleth once stated, "joy today is worth pain tomorrow".

Raishan did use the alias "Larkin" in the campaign when she helped fight Vorugal as a sign of good faith.
She disguised herself as a dwarf fighter.

It was a morbid joke by the animation team to model the cult leader after him. Taliesan, being his goth edgelord self, thoroughly approved.

7:35 Raven queen always shows up and gives Vax vision every time he gets lucky with Keileth....me thinks she's a jealous goddess. 😏

Well.. Grog's intelligence did increase from 6 to 7 😂. So ofc he comes up with the idea to start recruiting.

No one does "emotional damage!" quite like Critical Role

Laura Bailey is phenomenal but just wait till you see Mighty Nein series (their 2nd campaign) and her character in it. That will blow your mind :)
If I had money i would so sub to that patreon, i need to see the rest of your reactions SO BAD
ah, the pain
Will there be a haikyu?
