Hi, did you run this sub with the full 600W or set the gain for the recommended 500W? I have the same setup, but am interested if it can take more. Thanks
Hello, I did not set it with the DMM, but with an o-scope,with a 40Hz -2,5db wave. If that gain setup gave it more than 500W I don't know. But I am sure it can take more power. Though I experienced coil smell in its younger years. It is still in good shape
@@benyetman3712 If you have one or 2 Jl w3s they can handle 600 each no problem. When breaking them in keep it at 600 watts but dont go full volume the first week or 2. Lower the watts isnt how you break in subs or keep them safe. Lower the watts is for when you dont have the wattage. Thats all. use 600 they are tested and designed by Jl Audio to handle 600 rms for a decade no problem. Unless you know better then Jl Audio themselves. I know your trying to be cautious buts thats useless when u can read there rms rating.
JL w3 was the best sounding sub ive ever owned but they’re not for bass heads. They cant handle much power. Had mine running at 500rms in a JL HO box and it blew in 2 weeks. I had everything dialled in with an oscillo scope too.
@@florinwizz I have the exact same one bought off a guy here in California.. never know who made ..it look soo original had a few guys on jl 4 life trip on it
@@abelquintana6309 haha cool. Mine unfortunately seemed of poor cheap material, broke off easily when screwing or trying to make new holes. Well I hope yours is ok. Tuning is at 28 Hz, I prefer smh between 35-40 Hz.
@@florinwizz lol😁 same here I tried to put some new holes for a w6v2..had to pilot hole before screwing it in..sounds perfect with a w6 ..I tried looking on their site but didn't see that enclosure..anyways gonna put it in my sons honda hatchback..using a 500/1
