Haha, yeah Crusader will a little bit powerless with such a threat. And mission in crusader will be like : ICC Probe: My sensors says there's an unidentified signal right there but can't i do. Could you check that for me ? Player: Nope !
I'm more excited about the detail of the close quarters combat they showed. I was under the impression their wouldn't be complex moves like what seemed to be shown. Unless those are only used for cinematic purposes for SQ42. But we know they are going to have lots of hand to hand take downs in game just a matter of when. So that excites me to see ways to deal with situations that are more then just pull a trigger.
The greatest challenge for melee gameplay is the control scheme. It's difficult to control your body, arms, and legs with a keyboard and mouse. It would be great if they have a good way of doing that. However, these animations might simply be for aesthetic purposes, as you suggest, both in Squadron 42 and the persistent universe, throwing in some melee combat for players to watch NPCs in various situations.
Some cool news in this ATV :) Also some cool stuff : 4:35 Vandull attack on port olisart! 8:35 Levsky design 14:08 weapon skins! And of course, everything about the Eclipse is interesting ^^
Well of course xD The reason I was blown away is because we got such an early sneak peak at it haha pretty much completely unexpected but obviously it is super early into it so it wont look as good as it will eventually. Do you even know how MASSIVE those ships are? what blows me away even more is the fact that they were able to transfer THAT MUCH Data near instantaneously without any massive lag spikes from rendering and the like.
The whole time that the alert was on they had time for it to be loading mind. I would assume that we would likely detect such a fleet a little sooner as well and in game have more like 30 seconds thus giving more time for the game to be loading things behind the scenes.
Would love t osee more of Sean Tracy not as a host, but of one of the guys doing updates. He always tells rly interesting stuff and it's just a pleasure to listen to him.
I feel stealth ships would really benefit from preset power profiles to switch from stealth power settings to attack/run away power settings on the fly.
100% they should have this standard, and I'll be surprised if they don't. I'd like to see "silent running" settings on other applicable ships to, like the Herald, which is supposed to sneak around.
20:10 I like this sort of hawk/egyptian style ! Also, black dark side of moons was looking better, it was more dramatic. I wish they didn't change that (or only implemented the "glow" when you're really close)
Great episode. I'm lookin forward to S42 as much as SC. After that Vanduul fleet scene, I can't wait to see the story cinematics in action. Makes me proud to be a backer of this game since 2013.
I think if you did a poll you would find most players prefer there to be pitch black in the right conditions. In cases with no moons, bioluminescence, or artificial light it should be pitch black. This is a great feature for gameplay. It makes lighting not just about design, but an actual mechanic to be dealt with. It makes your lighting choices critical. It opens the door for nightvision tech and scanner based HUD overlay grids, and horror scenarios with aliens in the dark, etc. Please let us have pitch black.
YES! its a frankfurt update! and YES i was NOT disappointed. I just cant wait to go to a planet and just walk around and stare at that beautiful night sky
5:12 I don't like the lighting of the darkside of planets. I mean, landing and exploring in 100% darkness I find Fascinating because it gives that isolated... possibly eerie aspect to space travel. .
I think it might be a bad idea to illuminate the dark side of celestial bodies. Think of all the emergent gameplay you're stifling. *edit:* there seems to be a bit of confusion, so to clarify: I'm not saying it should always be pitch black. I'm just saying that the realistic system-simulation should be allowed to do it's work without artificial lighting. Tidally locked planets without moons should always be dark: lit only by starlight. Moons with nearby planets to reflect light might often be brightly lit. Just look how much variation there is in the Earth: without light pollution, stars can provide enough light to walk comfortably. With the moon, it can be bright enough to read. Throw some cloud cover in, though, and it can be absolutely black.
I think if it were pitch black they would need to add night vision, radar that can pick up large rocks or ground profile, or something along those lines, otherwise the whole idea of a surprise attack would be naught due to the fact that you would need a torch to light your way... kinda seems pointless. However, by only slightly illuminating the environment, you could easily navigate either on foot, or in a vehicle with all lights out, and at a distance you would be much harder to spot than if you had lights on etc. Plus, as they have said many times in the past, realism is very important to the design of the game, but not at the expense of 'fun' game play. And I personally feel complete pitch black on every single planets dark side would end up getting pretty boring pretty quickly, as I'm not going to be ambushing all of the time.
because now that they can make it between like 0 and 10 on a darkness scale the immersion of it being only ever stuck on 0 is lost? Since when did options and diversity become a emergent game play killer?
Yeah there has been a lot of arguing on both sides of this argument. It's a hard call to make, honestly. I personally think the eerie foggy lightning seen in this AtV looks cooler. I don't know how it would impact gameplay, however.
Earth's night isn't completly dark either, especially with full moon. That's the kind of option they have now. Celestial bodies without atmosphere would still be pitch black as far as I understand...
Please if you can try not to make night sides too bright when near surface / on foot. But i understand if you must balance it out. Outstanding overall.
I feel like you can't pay any attention to this games haters. This project is so next generation in it's scope and vision that anyone who has something negative to say about it can just be brushed off as someone who doesn't understand what's in front of them. The people who "get it", the supporters and people who are happy with the game as it comes along, well, they're changing with the times while those who can't, get left behind to shitpost on RUclips.
I will be picking up my Eclipse soon! My only grievance is the one seat!!! I love the ships look but that is something that I feel would make it really special :) Regardless it does look amazing!!!
that levski/delmar work in progress put my 3.0 anticipation on overdrive. When 3.0 is out friggin SC sales are going to double and all of the major game development companies are going to cry about how high the bar is being set. dayum thats some frigging incredible procedural+artist work.
Wow... the vanduul fleet attack was AWESOME! I wish we have that kind of events happening in the game, where sometimes Vanduul will attack some space station or city, maybe disabling some normal actions there (like normal landings and trading). And then the UEE would come to defend against the attack. Players could either help the UEE to defend in order to free the target location and to get paid by the UEE for their assistance. Or they could abuse the chaos to do illegal stuff.
I hope i can have this background music on my ship when i take Constallation Andromeda for a tour, go to a random planet, jump in the mini fighter in the back and leave my Andromeda in orbit fly down and do some epic canyon runs!
Absolutely LOVE the idea of automated turret modules. Finally something that makes sense to "in fiction" and sci fi. Tho not very "fi" because navy ships today have them for ship defense. 10 STARS out of 5
Took the eclipse out in PTU this past weekend.... was flying to PO from Lorville and got intercepted by 2 sets of 2 pirates, took 2 of them out with my torps before finishing the 3rd with my guns... but since i'm still new at flying with dual joysticks, I couldn't take out the final guy in the time I was willing to spend fighting him, so I just hopped into QT to get out. In my experience, she was able to hold her own ok. I plan on putting some gimbaled guns on her to make life a bit easier....
The Aegis Eclipse has to be very heavy in atmosphere with 3 of those giant torpedoes. In the future will torpedoes and added weight like fuel change how your ship flies?
Personally I'm against lighting up dark sides of celestial bodies, this game is so powerful for its light/shadow/fog capabilities, it would suck to drive all that away just because we don't have the equipment to light up those areas, I mean here on earth we got seriously powerful equipment that ca light up the sea! We call it a lighthouse!, So are you telling me that in 500 years or whatever, we still dont have equipment to light up those dark areas so we "cheat" our way out? ..... We need more equipment to help light a scene that the regular flashlight (that wouldn't light far as you can tell) or a night vision.... SERIOUS EQUIPMENT !!!

Thanks for spending your time for those. :D
Yeah I caught that too. Eclipsed the Competition nice one CIG, nice one.
The Vanduul Fleet & the updated moons, wow, just wow!
BoredGamer yea did you see that? it seems that star citizen is going to make all other games look so tiny and bad
i like the pink skin of the guns :D
soon
OMG.. The Vanduul fleet is so amazing
this is gonna be awesome but hopefully some big ships are around if a kingship just drops out with a 10 sec warning lol
How casually they were looking while the bells were ringing lol
Haha, yeah Crusader will a little bit powerless with such a threat.
And mission in crusader will be like :
ICC Probe: My sensors says there's an unidentified signal right there but can't i do. Could you check that for me ?
Player: Nope !

Incredible level of transparency now.
ADORED!
JOHN DUKE!
"Eclipsing the Competition" BENNN!!! x'D What have we told you about these titles?! LOL!
The Verse just keeps getting better and better, keep it up guys!
both Sean and Brian in 1 episode, could not be happier! good one, keep it all up
It will be interesting to see how far an Eclipse can go undetected
can be op or totally useless..
saw the date 02-02-2017 on the art for folded winglets (like finall?), chances rise up to see it flyable pretty soon
yeah, i`m still curious, why is my favorite WingspanTT`s Torpedo Delivery Service (EVE) still not in the `Verse
Dan Gheesling, LETS GOOOOOO! :)
Kodlak Home because this isn't Eve?
Some cool news in this ATV :) Also some cool stuff :
4:35 Vandull attack on port olisart!
8:35 Levsky design
14:08 weapon skins!
And of course, everything about the Eclipse is interesting ^^
You've got to love Brian Chambers. He has the most interesting monthly report every time !
Yannick Rekinger Right up with Erin Roberts and the UK Studio ;)
Sean Tracy and Brian Chambers! Can't be bad this ATV!
My eyes legit exploded at 4:47
the warp in was nice but i felt those explosions need work
Well of course xD The reason I was blown away is because we got such an early sneak peak at it haha pretty much completely unexpected but obviously it is super early into it so it wont look as good as it will eventually. Do you even know how MASSIVE those ships are? what blows me away even more is the fact that they were able to transfer THAT MUCH Data near instantaneously without any massive lag spikes from rendering and the like.
well, it was clearly scripted to show off the AD system but yes, i hope they will mantain this level of fidelty with 60 frames :D
The whole time that the alert was on they had time for it to be loading mind. I would assume that we would likely detect such a fleet a little sooner as well and in game have more like 30 seconds thus giving more time for the game to be loading things behind the scenes.
Yessssss, it's Christmas every Thursday!
Love how the face of the man doing the high kick changes so naturally while he performs the animation. I love the mocap.
_My face is tired_
4:49 it was this moment that he knew ...He fuckt up
great episode !! was amazing to see the vanduul in action and how far along the planetary tech has come along !
Warning: Vanduul fleet incoming!
KuvDabGib You should probably watch the video...
I chose this over iDubbbz
Yeah? Salt my dish, bartender! You chose wrong.
TitanFallout iDubbz is my dad.
Gr8 episode again with a lot of information from Frankfurt office.
Looking forward to seeing these guys again next week. :-D
I could listen to Brian Chambers talk all day.
These were the best days of RUclips content
I love hearing about what they're doing in Frankfurt. The in game video/advertising system looks amazing!!
OMG Brian Chambers brings the best info.
Next to Sean Tracy and Erin Roberts ;)
exited for the AI modules! finally no can get that cutty turret to be useful
Would love t osee more of Sean Tracy not as a host, but of one of the guys doing updates. He always tells rly interesting stuff and it's just a pleasure to listen to him.
Oh god the weapon skins. I'm simultaneously excited to have some choices and terrified for the impending silliness.
Given how the SC community is all about lore and immersion you'll rarely see silly stuff hopefully... As in real life :P
I enjoy the way this guy presents.
"PREACHER Armaments" Nice...
OMG star citizen would be my next life xD
Good one I had a good laugh too.
So you pledge for SC good for you. :)
+azfar70196
Too bad there is better game out there. It's like calling the kettle black
You said 'wife'? :)
Korporal Nobbs yes u know i will stay Virgin for ever 😋
THE VANDUL FLEET!!!! That was epic!!!
All these details they are putting in is amazing. I just hope my pc doesn't blow up XD
Thank you guys for your amazing work in this amazing game it is just a dream come true ! Cheers
Love how all the panels and equipments of eclipse move
I feel stealth ships would really benefit from preset power profiles to switch from stealth power settings to attack/run away power settings on the fly.
you can set up easy macro already
Yes, but I think it would be very useful to be an integrated feature that's simple to use in the game.
100% they should have this standard, and I'll be surprised if they don't. I'd like to see "silent running" settings on other applicable ships to, like the Herald, which is supposed to sneak around.
4:40 everything you need to watch
The hype was too real
Is that all? 150m and 5 years and that's what impresses you? To be honest i'm a bit dissapointed
ALLES given normal game development the stuff at 8 years should impress. CIG are working incredibly quickly.
Considering that you could go out into your ship and try to fight/board those enemies... yes, I consider that impressive. If they can get it working.
the hole idea of star citizen is awesome.
4:35 the 2 Vanduul Ships are a Driller and a Void Torpedo/Bomber ;)
The background of 9:30 is so Awesome
About time with the update tool I am glad its coming soon. The game is looking beautiful!!!
Supposed to be at my custody hearing but I rather watch this
why would you go to your hearing if they can't see you anyway?
Good point, they haven't seen me ever since I went to the grocery store to pick up milk few years back.
LOL
In three decades, when this releases, your children will see what Star Citizen has become, and they will understand.
lool
Video uploaded 2 min ago? 16 people disliked before they even watched -__-
cringe
I love the improved atmosphere on dark-sides of planets!
20:10 I like this sort of hawk/egyptian style ! Also, black dark side of moons was looking better, it was more dramatic. I wish they didn't change that (or only implemented the "glow" when you're really close)
4:49 - OMG
Im a simple man, I see Josh Herman, I like the video.
Great episode. I'm lookin forward to S42 as much as SC. After that Vanduul fleet scene, I can't wait to see the story cinematics in action. Makes me proud to be a backer of this game since 2013.
They're gonna make so much money from licensing their technology. This team is full of geniuses.
amazing ATV, so much great info!
Eclipse Option 9.2 Looks amazing.
Yes....Sean Tracey !!
I really liked the Eclipse Option 2 though 20:09.
10:32 The canyons.... and the music.... :0
I was ECTOPLASMAHYPED with this Vanduul attack. CIG PLOS!!!
4:06 Holoscreens/Vandul fleet!!
8:35 Levski footage

15:33 TRIAL VERSION = great $ management !
The Eclipse reminds me of a cross between a B2 Spirit and a GATL Longsword interceptor.
The folded wings remind me of the imperial shuttles from Star Wars.
YES! its a frankfurt update! and YES i was NOT disappointed. I just cant wait to go to a planet and just walk around and stare at that beautiful night sky
@22:20 So the Eclipse has an Auto loader for torpedoes?
This is going to be the greatest game of all time. Awesome just Awesome
Render to texture is going to be huge
The Guys at the Frankfurt Studios all drink the good Peterstaler Black Forest Water.... well done! :)
5:12 I don't like the lighting of the darkside of planets. I mean, landing and exploring in 100% darkness I find Fascinating because it gives that isolated... possibly eerie aspect to space travel. .
Im in love with the frankfurt studio...

I agree with this as in pitch black you can ambush easier, but we will see first if a little more light will do the same trick when it's live or not.
I think if it were pitch black they would need to add night vision, radar that can pick up large rocks or ground profile, or something along those lines, otherwise the whole idea of a surprise attack would be naught due to the fact that you would need a torch to light your way... kinda seems pointless. This game is going to be badass, glad already got it :D
Whenever the game releases for beta I'll upgrade my rig for latest graphic cards and better ram :D
Please if you can try not to make night sides too bright when near surface / on foot. But i understand if you must balance it out. Outstanding overall.
anyone else seeing this guy's eyes? that's a man burning out due to stress.
I feel like you can't pay any attention to this games haters. Mortechai I totally agree with you!
I hope there will be parts so dark we will need to rely on ship lights/flashlights.
So excited for this game!
When this game comes out, life responsibilities come in.
Anyone thought of adding ignition key to the ships - coded doors to a security card - cargo of snakes?
The video has been up for 6 minutes and there are 3 down votes.... Who is getting salty about Star Citizen?
People who still isn't aware of their schedule reports.
Those who can't afford the cool ships :P
I have WAY to many ships in this game. lol
The same 200ish people that down vote every Around the Verse, and the 50ish people that down vote every SC video.
I'd bet they are connected to Universal Combat.
LOL Tony Stark(Iron Man) is working for CIG Frankfurt? :D
Look at the guy, at 0:45
You should be able to put on adverts for multiple stations at a price
For groups or looking to sell something, i dont know but it sounds cool
I think that Game will be a Masterpiece, way more than Crysis was in the past...
A ver que nos de para este, Around the Verse, saludos desde España
Frankfurt updates are the best updates!
I will be picking up my Eclipse soon! My only grievance is the one seat!!! I love the ships look but that is something that I feel would make it really special :) Regardless it does look amazing!!!
thanks yoh guys. doing good.
Epic kung fu fighting confirmed.
i would make a timemachine just for this game
that levski/delmar work in progress put my 3.0 anticipation on overdrive. When 3.0 is out friggin SC sales are going to double and all of the major game development companies are going to cry about how high the bar is being set. dayum thats some frigging incredible procedural+artist work.
One month to go guys! Make it count!!! :)
quite an early ATV

Absolutely LOVE the idea of automated turret modules. Finally something that makes sense to "in fiction" and sci fi. Tho not very "fi" because navy ships today have them for ship defense.
10 STARS out of 5
Wonderful video.
Explorer and multi-purpose ships should have huge light's at the front of the ship, for nighttime situations on moons and planets.
Great Came on RUclips for a research Assignment but now that has to wait. XD
Shake it! Shake it like a polaroid picture!
bought a pc for this game in 2014.....
