Hi no I haven't but, yes, I agree, seems the obvious thing to do. I need to to a lot more research and make up a business plan. My other main concern is I have no experience working as a tour guide. I'm a people person and I know a lot about the city in which I live, but no actual tour guide experience. However, on the plus side starting a tour guide business and being the sole operator my over heads would be low so if it doesn't go that smoothly to begin with it would not be a great financial burden (or loss). Greetings, I started a tour company in U.S for people interested in visiting Kenya. I divided the tourist attractions into regions (Northern, Western, Eastern and Southern). My concern is during the process of designing the website if I create an option for customers to select the list of places they can visit under each region within a short period visitation.. how do I optimize that process? Especially if the distance from the places they selected are really far away? I created the regions and included (Adventure, Cultural and Food tours ) under each region but I don't want to limit the customer especially if they want to visit a place that is far away in another region. You are suggesting that most people travel to Africa and they are more comfortable with clean cut white people (I am guessing that is what you mean by "people who look like you") who will show them around or advise them who can be trusted. And you do realise that English is one of the two official languages spoken in Kenya? Otherwise I agree. Wearing a uniform and having professionally made marketing material are great ideas.

We have 9 beautiful and unique provinces, was thinking about linking each province to a personality of a tourist using an online questionnaire. Doing that, I can create the perfect tour route directed to the needs and personality of my client.

Thanks evan. I'm considering starting a tour company in my local city ( a smallish city). We get cruise ships during summer. My tours would be cultural tours, where i take international visitors to art galleries and some stylish restaurents etc, the city has a thriving art and food scene. My only concern is art is quite niche and I'm not sure whether the sort of people who go on cruise ships would be interested in visual art or classy food? what do you know about cruise ship clients (they seem old and middle income people)
Hi no I haven't but, yes, I agree, seems the obvious thing to do. I need to to a lot more research and make up a business plan. My other main concern is I have no experience working as a tour guide. I'm a people person and I know a lot about the city in which I live, but no actual tour guide experience. However, on the plus side starting a tour guide business and being the sole operator my over heads would be low so if it doesn't go that smoothly to begin with it would not be a great financial burden (or loss). Thanks for you advice

I started a tour company in U.S for people interested in visiting Kenya. I divided the tourist attractions into regions (Northern, Western, Eastern and Southern). My concern is during the process of designing the website if I create an option for customers to select the list of places they can visit under each region within a short period visitation.. how do I optimize that process? Especially if the distance from the places they selected are really far away? I created the regions and included (Adventure, Cultural and Food tours ) under each region but I don't want to limit the customer especially if they want to visit a place that is far away in another region. How do I address this problem if they are going to be in Kenya for like 4 days but they pick several places to see? What kind of selection option should I have on my website so its not chaotic trying to create the itinerary? I will appreciate any individual to offer advice or resource.

You are suggesting that most people travel to Africa and they are more comfortable with clean cut white people (I am guessing that is what you mean by "people who look like you") who will show them around or advise them who can be trusted. And you do realise that English is one of the two official languages spoken in Kenya?
Otherwise I agree. Wearing a uniform and having professionally made marketing material are great ideas.
