My F56 Cooper S petrol is named the Black Panther, after the large cat not the Marvel creation and my incoming F56 SE is already named Elvira.
My red Mini convertible is called Jubilee after we decorated it with Union Jack flags for Queen Elizabeths Platinum Jubilee but on the day, we had terrible rain. An 18 hour deluge of rain when the event was to be held next to a river on what was the areas flood zone and it was cancelled so we decided to leave the union jacks on the car...and especially when Queen Elizabeth passed away. We certainly aren't celebrating her gormless bumpkin of a son and his former mistress taking the throne. Jubilee celebrates the reign of Elizabeth II.
Does the sunroof open with the crossbars and rack on?
Yes! The sunroof opens no problem with crossbars and rack in place.
I'm considering an SE and your videos are extremely helpful, thanks! I occasionally haul around an 18' racing canoe, which needs to be tied down in front and back...do you know if there are tie downs/tow hitched that a rope can be attached to on the outside?
The only external points (as far as I know) are threaded tow hook openings covered by plastic pop-out covers. But these are off center - one on the front passenger side, and the other on the rear passenger side. So that's two off-center points where you could put a towing hook to tie to.
@@minise-focus perfect, very helpful! That's what I use currently in my Prius, so that's great. I don't mind it being off center since my canoe is quite narrow :) The more I research the SE, the more I think it's the way I'll end up going!
@@susannewman7810 It's a fantastic choice as long as the range works with your life. I did go outside and verify that there are threaded tow points behind the plastic covers. So that should handle what you need.

Didn't know this was an electric mini until the end comments. Great to know. 145 miles range? That is surprising - it is listed as 114 EPA. Also, I don't see the racing stripes as an option in the configurator. How did you manage that?
My average is currently around 128 miles. But, yes, it gets better range than the EPA says. In winter that average will drop. I have not driven in winter yet. Racing stripes are a dealer add-on in the US.
@@minise-focus Thanks! I did run into the Range video after going to the Inside EV Forum. Very helpful! I have to deal with Chicago winters, so there's that. Now, I am just trying to get it ordered and delivered before January 1st. I am not confident a MINI SE will continue to have a $7500 rebate, and I am going a bit stir-crazy without a second car at the moment. :(
is SE are not able to use back bike rack or tow?
Have you considered trying an aftermarket crossbar like the Yakima Jetstream or the Thule Aeroblade (or Aeroblade Edge)? I'd be very curious to know if there's a noticeable difference in noise and efficiency.
I have not tried one of those yet.
Hey great video! Thank you! Quick question, does the roof rail option only available when you have panoramic roof ?
I believe the factory roof rails are available with and without the moonroof option.

One last question (I hope). The manual I have that came with the cross rails doesn't show where to attach them to the roof rails. It does for the Clubman and the Countryman, but not for the SE. Is the 5.75" and 4.75" shown at 1:40 in the video the recommended spacing? Did you see that somewhere online?
No - I came up with those distances myself to ensure I could open the hatch with the bike rack up on the roof. I’ve used it like that for a year without trouble so far.

Do you know whether it's possible to attach a hitch-mount bike rack to the SE? I have one installed on my Cooper S and the receiver is between the dual exhausts. It would be great if they can be used on an SE as well.
You got me here. I don't even know if Mini offers a trailer hitch for the SE. I'm not seeing one at shopmini usa official site.
I am here in the UK and am picking up my SE in 3 days. I ordered it back in May and one of my questions was "Can i have a towbar fitted?". I pull my Mobility Scooter behind my Cooper convertible R52 as the exhaust is to the side. I couldn't pull it with my Cooper S F56 due to the two centre exhaust pipes. The dealer told me straight away "No there is no way of putting a towbar on the F56 SE" Its a great shame as it means the Mini Events we attend will require us to take the electric and the convertible so i can ride my chunky scooter whilst there, the alternative being that i buy a shopper-type mobility scooter which can be taken apart and put in the rear of the SE with the seats down.

How is the wind noise with the rack?
The wind noise with the cross bars is noticeable compared to without. The bike rack itself I have not noticed an increase of noise.
