This is the first time I've used a device with split personalities, obviously intended for use with the Nintendo Switch. I personally think it's a great idea, executed on a device that's a bit too large. The NYXI Wizard still boast some extremely interesting features at an affordable price so I do think it has it's audience, albeit one with rather large hands. I'd like to thank NYXI for sending this out for me to review, and I wish them the best in their future endeavors with pro controllers. I also sincerely hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you did, please be sure to drop it a like and sub if you're new. I'll see y'all in the next one!

I've used this controller for a couple of months now and I would say the worst feature is definitely the face buttons. A seems to sometimes stick down and it makes me very nervous that it's going to break and some point and I've also had troubles with the B button being unresponsive.
This is also on top of a poorly designed d-pad which, in my case, will activate d-pad up if I hold down left too hard. I wouldn't mind if this was the case for all of the buttons, like the Switch Pro before it had some revisions to fix it, but it's only when I hold down that one button.
There's good things about the Wizard but for how much it costs and how unreliable it can be, I struggle to recommend it to people.

I finally found a side-by-side picture of the Switch's GC mold (Original mold but with the ZL button and extra system buttons) next to the Wizard, and this thing is quite literally a GC-like mold cut in half with the dual-rail center piece. The only other large difference I'm spotting, other than the obvious ones, is that the handles look to be a bit more round than the original mold. Personally, based on holding my original GC pad, I think they could've snuck the rear buttons either more on the inside of the handles or extended them out to the surface on the back of the Dpad and Cstick, though the latter would work better as a horizontal-press towards the lateral center of the controller rather than a down-press into the thickness of the controller. I also don't really understand the split USB ports, they really should've gone for the JoyCon design where power goes through the rail, then made the center piece the charging dock. The mushy ABXY issue is understandable because of the lights, having letter-only lighting is difficult with any switch that isn't large and with an illuminated stem, like a keyboard keyswitch; maybe there's potential in the future for this to be more feasible by borrowing and minimizing the design of scissor switches, especially as mechanical-like scissors are coming out, such as Cherry's ULP scissor.
There's also the DOYOKY GC-Cons, which are closer to Joycons, flat base mold and bumper/trigger style, merged with GC handles and layout, where the only rear protrusion besides the handles are the double-circle-blob shape ( -What even is the name for this?- Apparently this is called a Metaball, at least in graphic design, though this better applies to 3D modelling but the same concept translates to 2D design) that goes around the sticks and buttons. While I haven't messed with one of these, just going by looks, this might be a better mold option in most aspects, it's not as wide even though it has a wider center bar though it does act as a charging dock for the GC-Cons, but having fuller-sized bumpers and proper triggers would be the first design change I'd go for, though Nyxi's clicky buttons is a win here, same with the swappable gates, but the DOYOKY also has swappable caps where the spherical base and stem/tip are separate. The DOYOKY also has true remappable rear buttons, the Wizard uses a macro on the rear button, the major difference comes down to press and hold functionality where the DOYOKY will have repeated inputs where the Wizard's macro only lasts as long as the original assignment was held down for, this is important for games like Metroid Prime where a charge shot is a held button; the DOYOKY also puts the rear buttons more on the inside of the handles, and they might be slightly taller on the button pad size.
I know the GC's ABXY layout was only relevant for the one system, as Nintendo put an emphasis on A-primary, B-secondary, and X/Y-tertiary, and nobody else used this and Nintendo themselves moved away from it, but I personally still like the layout and I feel like there's still some potential to be had here. I also still like the shape and feel of the GC controller, I also think it's original linear analog triggers were nice, and having a full-pull button is something that's not even seen anymore outside of PC-only peripherals; outside of hair trigger buttons, but that's a different concept entirely. I'd be interested in seeing a GC-style controller with different handles though, maybe something akin to the DualSense's profile, where the inside is still the classic flat paddle shape but the outside puts some meat in your hands; though I will say this, modern controllers have handles that are designed to sit in your palms, the GC's handles are designed to sit against the underside of your MCP joints (the hand equivalent of the balls of your feet, where your fingers meet your palm, the interdigital volar pads II through IV are here), so the handle styles and hand posture are _very different_ in comparison, though a palmar grip GC pad could be interesting but this would also require the shoulder layout and face layout position to change with grip style as ergonomics are a complex topic.
Hopefully there's a bit more development once the Switch's successor finally comes around. I feel like JoyCons have become a bit boring, especially with the system's limitations, though split controllers themselves are an interesting concept. It's just the same old things slapped into a new shell, even the GC-Cons aren't anything all that original; and a lot of Switch controllers are just cheap and/or lackluster by comparison to other options, first party products included. I just want unique controllers to make a comeback again, or at least designs that do stray from typical.

I love my gamecube NYXI but recently the left joycon keeps disconnecting from the left joycon slot. I tried my other 2 switchs and the same thing occurs. Never dropped the controller and has been handled in more casual games. It's only been about a year but using it every now and then.

Ive had this controller since March or so. I bought it for smash bros ultimate, but honestly, a power A gamecube controller does the job much better for about twenty bucks. The sticks need constant recalibration. Often times during gameplay the sticks will not go all the way up or down, so you will be missing a few jumps and recoveries. Nyxi has replaced the left stick, but unfortunately the replacement also suffers from the same issues. None of the firmware updates will fix this. If you don't jump with your thumbstick, then this controller may be ok for you.
