  • This song is a tribute to the true, tragic, and heroic tale of Michelle Curtis.
    The Story:
Nathan was visiting his fiance's family 2 years ago in Cape Breton when he was told a story that would forever change his life. Just days prior to their arrival, a tragedy had struck the small town of New Waterford, Nova Scotia when Michelle Curtis passed away.

A group of families had gone to the ocean for a camping weekend. The sun was hot and the kids swam out as the parents set up camp. Within an instant the children were swept out by a furious rip tide. With children screaming the parents leapt into action, working hard against the current to rescue their kids who were being pulled further and further from shore.

Michelle was at the front of the pack, having saved her own children she continued helping until every child had been safely returned to dry land. It was after this act of heroism that Michelle collapsed on the beach and tragically ended up passing away. ⠀
When Nathan was told this story it struck a chord so deep that he felt the need to channel it into a song. When he arrived back home in Saskatchewan the band completed the song "Heroes Never Die" a tribute and monument to Michelle's story.

We hope the song can remind everyone of the heroes we've all witnessed in our lives and how the lives they've touched allow them to live on through our memories and morals.
"Heroes come in all forms. Some physically save lives like Michelle Curtis, others may smile at a stranger which could save someones day. Everyday we are called to action and we can choose with both our big and our simple acts to make a difference and be the heroes we all want to believe in"

    Heroes Never Die Lyrics:
    A tale to unwind
    The souls intertwine
    The day had begun
Met with the hot scorching sun
    Time for the beach
    The unknown terrors at reach
    They loaded the van
As they drove to the sand
    The children they laughed
    While Mother took photographs
It was a time to relax
See friends and family at last
    Though something was wrong
    It never let on
    The families arrive
    With good tidings on high
    The parents embraced
    close families so interlaced
    They walked to the shore
    As the children explored
    They set up their base
    The children gathering haste
    A restless excite
    While warm waters invite
    The kids waded out
    In total comfort no doubt
    They swam here before
    The ocean they all adored
    The surface was calm
    But the current was strong
    It pulled them far beyond
    Panic, Terror, Alarm
And she swam in fast as a light
    Saving them lives
    Giving all her fight
    The current so strong
She worked herself to the bone
    Saved more than her own
    Heroic feats few will know
And her life won't be in vain
She lives on through their lives & their names
    It was a hero inside
    That kept them children alive
    She saved them all
And now her spirit lives on.....
    HEROES NEVER DIE
    Numb disbelief
    Inconceivably weak
    They tried to revive
Her body was out of time
    A ringing in ears
    Faces streaming with tears
    Broken with grief
    And no signs of relief
    A terrible tide
    A pulling inside
    The families embrace
    Forever now interlaced
    The sirens blared on
    But she couldn't be gone
    No something was wrong
    Panic. Terror. Alarm.
    Repeat Chorus:
And she swam in fast as a light
    Saving them lives
    Giving all her fight
    The current so strong
She worked herself to the bone
    Saved more than her own
    Heroic feats few will know
And her life won't be in vain
She lives on through their lives & their names
    It was a hero inside
    That kept them children alive
    She saved them all
And now her spirit lives on.....
    HEROES NEVER DIE

I remember the day, our small town was torn. Her name has not been forgotten, and she lives through her children and those she saved. She was a nurse and mom, nothing could have stopped her from her selfless act. RIP Michelle. Heroes never die

We were just explaining that we know the first verse is far too long, but we really wanted to tell the story of Michelle, and it was hard to fit into a song. Not the perfect structure(chorus is way to late) but I think we were able to get the story across and that was our main goal! Chorus is my favourite part for sure!
