- When it comes to fishing, Capt. Mike Gallo is somewhat of a mad scientist, constantly field-testing different gear and techniques to give himself an edge over the speckled trout, redfish and anything else that calls the Lake Pontchartrain Basin home.
On a recent trip, he showed the effectiveness of fishing drop-shot rigs at the Trestle, and taught viewers how he likes to tie them.

Chatted with Lake P Legend,Dr.Rob Weiss,and he has been using what lotta folks call "Rucker"rig and glide shrimp and he sent me a bunch of pics,some from Indian River,some from Trestles and he has slammed some fine specks!!

I have a question kinda unrelated to this particular video but I’ve recently started getting back into fishing and have started watching a lot of your videos. I notice you use a lot of different lures over the years but I haven’t seen you try any artificial crab lures, is there a reason you don’t try them more often? , especially since I’ve noticed a lot of bass you catch throwing up little crabs.
Captain mentions main line is 20-lb Trilene. Mono or flouro Trilene? Mentioning the hook size would also be helpful.
He uses both fluoro and mono depending on the situation. The first hook he tied on was a No. 1. The second that he showed was a 1/0.

Preferably you want the hook facing up towards the rod.
You should talk more about water depth, approach etc. Seems like you're just working in the tide from bottom and on up jerk etc. How deep is it there?
