I got my Dirt Racks crash bars on today. I haven’t got them on the highway yet. Around town I didn’t notice much change. My KLR vibrates the most around 50-55 mph. It noticeably smooths out around 65 mph.
I definately enjoyed your reviews on the old KLR, but I'm really enjoying your modifications on the new GEN 3 model! I hope you can find pedals that satisfy your stiffness levels. Be well and thanks for sharing your video reviews.
G'day m8 from Australia. I'm into archery and we use rubber dampeners on the bows. Quite noticeable too. Secret is the rubber "fingers" need to be long to absorb the resonance.
I was impressed by the quality of your audio, I could hear you so clearly and just the right amount of engine sound with no wind noise, could you tell me about your helmet setup, your mic etc?
Thanks for noticing! It's mostly the mic which oddly enough is 1 of a 3 pack you can get on Amazon for about $7. Here's a video that shows how I have it ran. Just don't wrap the cable around itself like I did, creates an audio delay. ruclips.net/video/8uxFxa4Tm20/видео.html
Enjoying learning from your channel and would appreciate your input on a much needed Gen 2 mod on my short-list. What crash bar would YOU add if you already had an HTP skid plate installed? Compatibility is obviously my concern. I don’t like the HTP crash bar design but love the skid plate. Thanks for the great content 👍
No issues with the crash bars either, matter of fact they held up great on two drops in rocky terrain a few days ago on the trails lol. However, gotta recommend a bar swap to a set of Protaper's!? Got them on 3D cycle and made a huge difference with a little nicer sweep, sturdier when you drop and way more comfortable. It's a beefy bike so they look a little nicer too. Glad to see you're out riding even though its cold :)
Good to hear! I actually don't mind my stock bars. They have waaay more sweep than the ones on my Tenere so they actually feel extremely comfy in comparison. What bend did you go with? ATV mid?
@@SwankyCatProductions They’re ProTaper SE ATV High Handlebars and are much more heavy duty and like $68. Much better feel for me anyway. I know what you mean, the T7 is straight as an arrow lol
Looks like a cool bike but parts and service availability would be a concern and potential problem. The Japanese bikes might not always be the fastest or coolest but it's pretty hard to beat there reliability and aftermarket support!

Thanks for responding to my question. I can recommend the Flex handlebars..there awesome. You're an experienced rider and don't think that you will be dumping your 450 # bike over often. Doing a great job ! ..... Keep up the good work.
I just put the thermobob on my klr the other day. What are you seeing for temperature now? I see around 190 shortly after it's warmed up and in stop and go traffic I see maybe up to 215 and then the fan comes on. I think it's working good
My son's name is James Russell. I bought the thermo-bob kit for my 2022 KLR. I haven't put it on yet. Swanky has a video on doing the install. Did you have any issues with the install? I'm waiting for a warmer day to do the install. It's been snowing and cold the past month. I need to get the install done before the end of January. I'm loading up the KLR and I'm driving 1500 miles to Arizona to join my brother on a 3 week motorcycle adventure. 3 solid weeks on the KLR!!!!!!
@@rameylewis7730 only one...i took out the plug on the bottom of the water pump before I took the cap off the radiator and my catch bucket wasn't in the right spot so when I came to the other side I lost coolant on the garage floor 😞 and I also made the same mistake swanky made with the hose clamp at the new thermostat housing and I had been reminding myself not to do that but it happened anyways. I have 560 miles on mine and I didn't care a whole lot about voiding the warranty. I tend to hang onto things for a long time so I did it now so I'm glad I did it now. I got to say, the new KLR really is a pretty handsome bike.
Agreed!
I really like the color on those
Thanks for talking us through some upgrades and options. Looks like a blast riding in all types of riding when you have the right gear! 💪🔥
The right gear definitely makes it much more enjoyable! No fun having cold hands!
It does seem that several heated gloves that are marketed for motorcycles lack any real protection. Glad that you were clear about these ones. - Frank
Yeah they just slap a bunch of labels on them it seems like lol. I bought myself a nice pair after this that I haven't even gotten to test out yet.
Great looking day for a ride. Agree that salt sucks - just rinse bike well. Another nice video!
It was! Thanks! Suppose to be another nice day tomorrow and the next but I doubt I'll be able to get out... We'll see!
Cool cruise and great looking KLR.
Thanks!

Thanks! Glad to hear that! I actually got to try two sets now. J&S lowering brackets and the Tusk solid mount conversion. Both are great!

Hello! Yeah I'm not sure if they just missed the mark with the rubber they used or what but they definitely were not for me!
I had the Krator’s on my Gen 2 with a set of springs for them. They worked great with the addition of the springs.
Yeah I think springs would be really nice!
Moose 1620-0464. I think these are the ones that work with those pegs.
Beautiful motorcycle. I want to do the same mods to my 2022 KLR.
Thanks!
I like what you have done so far to the KLR. Looks great.
Thanks Bill!

Glad to hear that Mike! I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with that skid plate or what'll work with it but I had good luck with my Tusk bars on my gen 2

Did you notice anymore vibration with your new foot pegs ? What area of Wisconsin are you from? I'm in the Milwaukee area. Ride safe .
I could be wrong but I don't think they vibrate any more at all. You might notice a difference at really high rpms but I'd bet that's about it.
Great video. What GPS are you using?
That's a Garmin 50LM.
I almost went riding today but need more gear.
It's supposed to be 50s here tomorrow, there goes all the snow!
What are your thoughts on the Aprilla 660 ADV ?
Besides the lack of large network Dealerships in the states.

Have you taken a passager on the new gem 3 ? How’s the windshield? Do you plan to upgrade it to ?
No passenger yet. Windshield is noisy for me at 5'10". I want a rally style shield for it like the old gen2 KLR dash.

Krator Amazon link states not available at this moment... would they work also for passenger ones?
Huh maybe it has something to do with location, it looks like I could buy them again here. I don't think they'll work on the back, no.

Should have got the tusk ones👍
They were out of stock when I tried to get a set, might still switch them out.
Are you happy with the Tusk guards?
Yeah, I feel like anything is better than those stock rubber monstrosities, lol.
Heated gloves could be nice on the sled.
Take it easy buddy!
First?
Think so!
