What rules have changed your life?
1 in 1 out rule
$1 Rule: I never spend the last dollar bill in my wallet. It forces me to either reconsider the purchase or choose which bank account is going to pick up the tab.
Getting up early!
😀
Depend on looks and not on Brands💯
Keep It Simple (KIS)
I’m going to quit my job today! Not afraid anymore.
Do the hard thing
nathalia- I quit my job without another job to go to. I was there for 20 years and loved the job but HATED my boss ( the 7th one I've had since I started btw). I'm 53 years old and lucky to have a supportive husband who's carrying the money load right now, but I feel SO much better mentally and physically. bless you in your decision to quit..you WONT regret it😊
@@lauramarzen7081 THAT IS AMAZING!!!
My thing is the opposite, I love my boss and the team but the tasks are stressful! 5 start hotel require too much behaviour and patience.
@@NathSchultzUK as long as you know what's good for your soul and inner peace, listen to it and carry on😊life is too short and you are doing a brave & inspiring thing by walking away from a job that stresses you out. ❤
YESS! I hope you are THRIVING after quitting❤️
11 years ago I did something scary. I started playing at a baseball team, which is quite uncommon in Germany, especially for girls. Also I was really bad at throwing. I had three really fun years playing baseball and one day during training met a great guy, who is now my husband. Try new scary stuff guys! You never know until you try!
i used to have severe social anxiety and the only way I got past it was/is doing something that scared me every day. even the smallest things like saying “thank you” to the bus driver. I remember the first time I did it I was so proud of myself and now I’ve had multiple customer service jobs and the customers even tell me that I am great at what I do.. and that’s crazy to me because I’m still a little socially anxious and I still get scared to go grocery shopping by myself but I do it anyway. I’m planning on getting “do it anyway” tattooed on my arm/wrist as a reminder to be scared, but do it anyway.
A couple times a day I shut everything off and get the house real quiet and meditate a couple times.
Meditate on what? The Bible says you must meditate on the Word of God to renew your mind. Mindlessness is bad.
That is so impressive. I have slowly come to turms to actively meditate 3 times a week in the morning. A few times a day sounds so calming! Very impressive and admiring
@@kate60 I'm a spiritualist, man I wrote the Bible and all other religious books. Billy Graham even wrote a Bible!
I love your videos. You're like a modern day Emerson. One of my favorite take aways from one of your videos was about devoting yourself to a topic deeply for a long period of time -- like 6 months or a year -- reading and learning everything you can about the subject. I passed it along to my AP English students, telling them to reflect on what we read this semester and to choose one author or poet that resonated with them and to dive deeper into their works this summer. As soon as school lets out and I finish this 9 month Bible challenge in May, I'm going to devote myself to getting really good at the uke and reading the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In the fall, I am already planning on doing a deep dive into financial literacy -- stepping beyond my Dave Ramsey knowledge and reading what else is out there. Thank you again.
Do small things with great love.
I enjoyed this video a lot. So much I could say, I think the one thing I liked most was to unplug. Daily breaks are best for me in batches.
I love the idea of a screen-less day! One thing I do have trouble with is the idea that we should do something that is hard or challenges us to step outside the comfort zone. The only two times I have ever consciously done this seemed like positive things when I started and turned into experiences that were terrible for me. I know one could say, that the experiences were useful in that I know more of what isn’t good for me, but it really leaves me reluctant to step outside my comfort zone again. Taking on challenges like that is akin to ignoring what my gut tells me.
you can do hard things without negative consequences. take a cold shower for two minutes. I mean cold cold, not lukewarm. It strengthens your mind and has only positive effects. It trains your mind to withstand pain and stress better, which helps to be less stressed in general. And so you may widen your comfort zone :) I think the general idea is to expand this zone, so you can take up harder challenges over time and grow, get more self confident. Also i think there is a difference between a negative gut feeling and being nervous, for example. I trust my gut, always. Maybe you can try to learn to differentiate between those feelings better.
I understand this Debbie. I support challenging myself often, but I also think its important to realise when I might not be in a good space to add a challenge, and also choosing challenges that stretch me but not too much. If I think of myself as a rubber band then I'm made to expand and stretch. But if you pull/stretch/stress the rubber band too much, it may break.
I wasn't on social media for 5 days, in July, after I had a medical procedure done. ( nothing serious) I only missed two celebs passing away, but nothing else serious. No one noticed I hadn't post anything and I honestly didn't miss it. Now I try to stay off on the weekends. But I enjoy You Tube and watching videos like yours too much, so I'll have to schedule breaks to enjoy my video watching. :D
Value added. Thanks
So I have been watching your videos for a while now. Around the time you started to be exact! And to see how much you have grown is amazing! Your videos are getting better and better! All of your suggestions and tips have help me grow in life. I have good control of my finances, make better decisions and have learned to say no to people and opportunities . We bought a 20 acre lot and hope to grow cut flowers to sell. I signed my self up for a course and hope to one day write and let you know I did it! Anyways great job on everything your doing!! Always excited to see when you upload a new video!!
Great tips! Thanks 👍🏽😊
You know, I did just that. Turned off all the noise. I was surprised just how clearly I could hear myself think. Amazing. And so peaceful and calm too. Wow.
One rule I have for myself is I never ever let anyone buy me and I never try to buy friends. When I give it’s from the heart.
Very valuable info. Thanks.
U actually covered it. When I don’t want to do something…that’s the time to do it
Your channel has really given me a new perspective. Thanks!
I could say my 'routine' is the other word for 'rules'. I value my productive days and make it balance out with 'gym first. Followed with oatmeal also for a hearty healthy breakfast. I love making lists of home projects prioritizing most important to tomorrow or next day... When feeling I'm falling off the wagon I STOP and sit with either total silence and may journal my thoughts, reflections or just doing a recheck in my mind. Getting out of our element aka comfort zone is vital. We need that continued challenges and not live in a total tunnel vision. Another great video Gabe. Thank You!
I love that!!!!!!!! I have been using the same trick!
This was a great video and really made me think, thanks for sharing Gabe 👍
Thank you for the inspiration and kind challenge. peace, brother.
Love your videos so much 🙌
My favorite part of this is lowering my standards. For me a who tends to be on the perfectionist side that is eye opening. Will ponder on this for sure. Love your wisdom. Have a blessed day❗️
Same here, I tend to analyze too much and trying to be perfect. But I want to lower my standards and try coming at goals with a fresh mindset.
“ It’s hard to beat someone who never gives up’ - Babe Ruth
It’ perseverance not perfection.
I love this video, its just what i need the most. I always challenge myself to step out of comfort zone, which gives me so much satisfaction after i have done it.
Dear Mr. Gabe, the general public (I aim also the younger ones! Especially them as they are beginning a new life...) must see your sensible, realistic, respectful video about your wonderful ideas and guidance! It is so precious! I love that at the end, you talk about....silence, alone with your thoughts....so many now sadly, have n.e.v.e.r done it (yet!!) Have an amazing Autumn Mr. Gabe! helene (mom of 4!) :))
Awsome video dude, keep it up! I really liked the way it makes you think about changing behaviors as this is crazy difficult for most people, I'm in the fitness industry and some of these ideas really resonate with me 🤗
I do nor skip ads just for you Gabe, cause you helped me when I am depressed.
It’s all good man you can skip! Appreciate you!
A fitting upload for a Monday!
im starting to love this channel..
Less is more. More is less. Your life shouldn't be centered around work. Work should be centered around your life. You'd be amazed at all of the things you can live without. My mother keeps a million trinkets in the house and my dad worked so much I didn't see him often. They're both dumbfounded when I try to explain this concept to them.
Not many can just move on from a stressful job when they live week to week. I hate being disabled. I hate the way employers shame you and take advantage of you because they know you are scared. Over 5 1/2 years on this job, no raise, no vacation. Tried several times to get another job. I am so trapped.
Thank you for sharing your journey, Gabe. Your thoughtfully prepared (and courageously presented) insights have helped me better navigate many of my life growth-opportunities.
For me it's not the gym itself that keeps me away, but getting there in the first place..
When I'm there once, I like to stay for 2 or even 3 hours. But all the dressing, driving, showering.. bruhh..
Video on smart goals plz and ty!
Loved this video! I’m going to have a screen less day! Also, going to try new hard things. I’ve lost some weight with IF and now learning portion control (just doing it and keeping on getting back on it when I’ve failed has led to changes in my eating habits over time!) On the losing weight journey and a decluttering journey I’ve learned to lower my expectations (write two crappy pages a day) and being so perfectionistic. Progress is finally occurring! Now to work on stopping inordinate spending!!! Thank you for these videos so much!! You are very wise!
We have the same Feelgrounds!
I do the cold showers already but one rule that i have is i limit what im allowed to say yes and no to like i have 5 things i can say yes to and 5 im allowed to say no to.
I am so uncomfortable right now in real estate but I know it will all be worth it lol! I’m gonna need to ask you some DIY questions soon, gonna basically do a live in flip :). Great video as always, just the reminder I need.
Joined Noom 1 1/2 years ago. My coach is amazing! I haven't lost much weight but have been off and on so that's the consequence. I have learned so much about food and my relationship with food. It's slow but I have no doubt that I will be successful.
Great suggestions. I like the idea personally of the productivity hack usally called "Eat the Frog", first discussed by Mark Twain then adapted by Brian Tracy.. Basically take whatever is the hardest or most undesirable task and complete it first.
I’m disabled because a Dr. Broke my femur and more! I’m alone 99.9% of the time and I don’t have any friends because “ the misery loves company “ ( I’m spoiled and selfish come let me drag you way down 😢doesn’t apply to me . Okay I am not smiling all the time but it’s amazing what an attitude can do. You have been a really good person to have sound life advice and you are a wonderful person. Thanks to your beautiful wife and baby for sharing you. Happy days thanks Stephanie
I’m horrible at texting but I’m educated
Thanks for the motivation, Gabe! Your videos always keep me on track
Thanks man
I love your contents .... Business requires time and efforts, these two ingredients are the main and it can be cooked !
THAT'S SO TRUE!!! Lots of people don't even realize the difference it makes when you change your bad habits. That's why it's so important to create a budget, define your goals, and stick to them. It's easy to spend on useless things if you don't have any goals for your money and yourself. YOU DESERVE TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR DREAMS!!!
You are not paying attention to Gave! He is against budgets. Good for you Keep up the good work
Never catch a falling cactus.
Doing yourself damage trying to keep certain things that either don't want to be saved or can't be saved from hitting the ground is the ultimate in foolish. There are always (in my experience) 'little spines' that work you way into your hands and keep on hurting even after the initial pain of catching the cactus in the first place. Pain now, and pain later. Now it can be a challenge to figure out if you have a falling cookie (save it!!) or a cactus. Comes with experience, and knowing what your values are.
If it's a cactus, let it fall.
Either you'll be able to lift the bits you need off of the floor one it can't do you any damage, or you'll realize that the cactus is better off on the floor.
Screenless Day! You really mean it when you call us to do the hard thing
Life starts on the edge of you comfort zone. *boom*. I'll be chewing on that for a while!
Also, I swear today is the first time I noticed the brick in your living room is painted. I went back in your posts and it appears to always have been. Weird I can watch your posts religiously but fail to see this kind of detail.
I enjoy your videos, Gabe. I like to see a different point of view. I make a budget every month. I know that is not your thing. I need to take a yearly view.
No TV, No social media, no laptop... sure, no problem. NO MUSIC?????? HECK NO!!! A day without music is a day wasted.
I don't believe life begins at the end of your comfort zone. As soon as you "step out" of your comfort zone, you start to get used to the "new zone", and it becomes your comfort zone. Comfort zone is relative and never ending. That means with every new experience and challenge, your comfort zone broadens, therefore you can never really reach it's end.
4:25 I have been using noom because I thought I should eat less. I lost 7 kg! But that was not such a good idea I got in the hospital because my heart rate was too low. I am diagnost with Anorexia and I am still recovering. Please mind what you are saying about weight loss and calories.
Gabe, do you have any advce for sleep hygiene? I struggle with clinical insomnia and I find that it's the nuber 1 tbing hokding mr back from the lifr I am ttying to build.
As a subscriber to this and many other (similar) channels, I am impelled to point out something important that often goes unsaid. Those of us who seek guidance from these videos often find great wisdom and inspiration here. Some of us, however, have severe blockages that will not yield to even the best guidance. The best cure for that is to be found, as I found it, (after decades of searching!) in a book called: "Letting Go" by David Hawkins. To the extent that I have habitualized the techniques presented there...that is the extent of my current success in applying the wisdom from this and other motivating videos. I gift this book to all who are open to it, instead of frivolous things. It has made it possible for me to adopt many of your suggestions. Thank you for your efforts to share that which improves your life.
ok just bought this book
@@lyricberlin - Good. Now read it and reap the benefits!
Interesting -“I have to do it because it’s scary”.
de-si- dairy is the nearest phonetic
Weight loss is 80% diet, not going to the gym. Maybe if the goal is fitness and tone.
Just wanted to say C’s in Latin take the K pronounciation! :) Sorry has nothing to do with the actual awesome content of this video. I just really love Latin ha thought it’s a cool thing to know
Cut + off = Decision. Love it!
Thumbs down for Noom. Thumbs up for you.
WHICH CAMERA U USE BRO... 🙃
I enjoy learning from your story.
This guy is just great!!!!
Love your channel and content and attitude. Unrelated: Are you aware there are people posing as you on Instagram? Frustrating. All the best to you.
I just wrote when I had time between a graveyard shift and school. It's still on paper. Nice writing. Everyone just wants best sellers intstead of original work.
That's so true
Music is distracting.
noom has been life-changing.
Thank you I will check out Noom. I just signed up with a nutritionist in my email and realized my cortisol levels are important to watch after listening to Greg Gallagher.
Your cake. 😂
Looked at Noom, took introductory quiz, and I could not join bc I don't want to lose weight. wtf
👍🏼
Be careful with cold baths. If the temperature is not high enough, there is a risk of growth of legionella
In.a shower?

Did you just lower my standards for a crunchy leaf satisfaction?
Noom is a free test button any free advice?????? A bit of a scam after giving them important data.??>
Great advice in the morning. Keep it comming. :)
What happened to your instagram account?
Looks fine to me?
Easy task find 5 of 17 things that show this "minimalist" is still stuck in a materialistic mentality. Till that changes he will always be fighting himself. Change in attitude is what is really needed. Also: pity his neighbors. A yard full of weeds and clover that will infest his neighbor's yard. :(
Correct. Until you make peace with God through Christ Crucified for your sin, nothing matters. You will leave with nothing.
Deeply love this channel and its content... but man, I came real close to never watch this episode just because of the thumbnail... there's zero need to get this clickbait/mojolike. It's beneath the intelligence level of your videos. Keep 'em coming tho, great stuff. Had to say someting. :)
Three DAYS of No talking? Who does that? You must have a lot to say when you do talk!
He's getting too guru like and commercial. Work hard, Eat Plants, Budget and worship God. Jesus Christ is Lord. That is life. You came with nothing. You will die and leave it all. He needs to know The Truth that sets you Free. Be not deceived.
Not impressed this with this week's video. You need to be silly now and again
