I mean.... minions in POE1 are still better than D4. Witch is my main. all kinds of minions builds. Love my permanent 50+ minion builds. Then spectre builds where you summon a minion from any mob. Builds where you summon range minions when you walk around and consume corpses. Then there's a whole suite of Holy Paladin minion stuff. I mean... there's tons. Oh I forgot about the flaming skulls that chase down mobs. There's also ways in POE1 now to have your flasks all auto fire.
POE2 just spoiled me for good, I'll never touch D4 again once early access comes out in November. My main will be Mercenary, but Witch comes very close for sure.
They wouldn't. 7 years of arpg games during D4 development and didn't take from any of the other games. Now that people are mad, they took something that was really popular - D3 greater rifts 😂
ED/Contagion at least exists in POE, they just really had to describe the skill because of the now contagion raised minions applying it and they had to say it for context lol it's a popular build type and it's really cool they're merging the two in a way that makes a lot of people happy.
I heard that the spectre binds to the skill gem. If this is true and the monster stays binded to the skill gem after you remove from your character, does that mean we can capture and stash monsters? If so, I hope there are some rare spawning normal monsters that can be traded or something after capturing them. That'd be amazing.
This is my issue with Blizzard (since 2008ish), they are such a massive corporate husk now, the design is so 'default' like most AAA now. they're creatively bankrupt (save for maybe the cinematic team) , there's no bravery, it's design by committee, blatantly shareholder money driven, absolutely no generosity or player concern, no soul. The fact they out sourced the D2 remaster to someone else says it all doesn't it? if they really wanted to make a good Diablo game they would have developed that in house, and then have the same team make D4 so they could implement all they learned doing that. But instead we have this. No wonder the makers of D1/D2 play poe instead of D3/D4.
Contagion + Essence Drain is a classic PoE 1 combo, you can try it now (as a trickster or an occultist) though it has no interaction with your minions in PoE 1, just a powerful DoT that can occur as a looooooong chain of deadly infection 😈
150 staff vs 1000s. GGG are even running POE1 leagues still on as little as 15 staff and those are more creative than anything Blizzard has done for D4.
I loved Diablo 4, i had a lot of fun, and i have to admit that the Graphic is very cool, in some places you can see pure art direction. And i like most of the classes... but..m when i saw POE2. I felt like a little boy with an old toy in his hands trowing it away and picking up the new model 😂. Here the graphic goes beyond realism, i think it looks even better then the real materials in real life 😂, and the classes, the abilities, the decisions, their unique peak of this "gems" and the evolution of them during gameplay. I think Grinding Gears came from the future 😂 there is no other explanation. They saw something we didnt
You made mention of getting used to keyboard. This game does have full controller support now. Left stick is move and right stick controls facing. IIRC there are 24 different key binds for the controller as well.
Ever since moving to full pc gaming around 7 or 8 years ago, I can’t for the life of me get used to anything on a controller. However, I may give it a try.

Ive never played d4. But path of exile is special because every class can use every weapon or ability. The classes each have their own 3 ascendancies they can choose from, and they all have their own starting location on the passive web. But, you can mix and match as much as you want. You could be a templar that uses skeletons if you want.
AWSD+Mouse gonna be lit. Move with keys, point and shoot with mouse. Cheat code…..although I’ve heard that serious gamers who played the game with controller said it was very very good.
I am basically done with D4 unless they add a much larger endgame with more content, and Lost Ark is getting on my nerves as there is no way I can play enough to be competitive with people that pay thousands of euros monthly into this game, the moment I catch up a bit there is new content and again p2w players are off and gatekeeping me for content. POE2 and TL are the new frontiers, at least in the beginning the difference with casual player and p2w will not be as big.
PoE 1 is not p2w especially when you get to endgame. Yes, you can buy currencies and items at PoE trade from players who have farmed (and crafted these items) but it's a healthy economy. Also no matter how good your build is in PoE 1, you can still get one-shotted by an endgame boss (or just a random rare/unique monster) if you're not careful with your gameplay. I personally think PoE 1 still depends on player skill rather than games like BDO, D4 or Lost Ark (and yes, I have also played these games for hours). These games let you buy battlepasses to upgrade your characters' stats in order to progress hence the whales. In PoE, you can only spend if you want to in microtransactions, supporter packs, and cosmetics. I highly doubt GGG will change this feature and will carry it on to PoE2 as it is what made the game so epic and beautiful. See ya in PoE 2 though. Sorry, I just wanted to explain and I'm not gatekeeping or anything. New exiles are always very welcome :)

You can automate the flask usage and even set specific conditions when the flasks should be used. That requires some currency for each flask but you should have enough by the time where you need to have very high flask uptime. It's expected to see that kind of automation in PoE 2 as well.

POE1 is fantastic but its not very new player friendly. If you want a game you can sink hundreds of hours in and still not understand everything then give POE1 a blast. It does show its age in a few areas - the new player experience being one of them. POE1really doesn't explain much at all to the player. You can hit a hard wall with a build you're trying to make quite early on and respeccing skillpoints is really hard to do early on. It's worth a try but don't be surprised if it doesn't gel with you. POE2 is going to be very different.
I have been following PoE and the Diablo franchises since PoE came out and, per my observations, the only "innovations" in D3 and now in D4 are things that have been clumsily adapted/stolen from PoE/PoE2. Blizzard appears to have no inventiveness of their own whatsoever.

I respectfully disagree, there will be 100 unique bosses (not a single copy pasted different variations BS) and 600 monsters which got me super excited which D4 extremely lacks of. Also, the art styles, graphic fidelity and sound designs are on next level, making D4 looks like a mobile game in comparison. Have you checked out other gameplay reveals for different classes? Gonna call it now, this game will be peak ARPG & F2P. I know I'm dickriding hard but I know GGG will deliver in future.

the witch is the starting class then it ascends (evolves) in 3 separate ascendencies, Necromancer being one of them.

The moment when a blue mob in POE2 offers more challange, depth and interaction than almost all bosses in D4 together. ^^
Agree about the visual. D4 minions pass through each other, like no collision. And they look like they're strafing/sliding, not walking.
