Que maravillosa experiencia y que historica vivencia. Felicidades.
I was a junior in high school in 1978. Juniors were responsible for putting on the prom and after prom for the juniors and seniors. We took our fund raising VERY serious so we could put on an epic event. We were able to hire the Faith Band for the after prom dance. In the spring of 1978 that album had just come out or was about to, but Dancin' Shoes was unknown. We were some of the first people to hear that song that night at our dance. 43 years later it still gives me cold chills. Carl Storie's voice....man...
Spring of 78 I was also a junior in high school. Faith Band played our prom that year too. Shock Band played the after prom. Winchester Indiana. WCHS '79
I was classmates and friends with Carl’s son Jordan. We went to Yorktown elementary in Yorktown Indiana. They eventually moved away. Carl came to school and performed for our class and even gave us all a cd of his greatest hits. Cool guy.
I was DJing at a club on 38th (Reflections maybe?) when Faith Band was calling it quits. One of the best parties ever. Carl and the boys were so on that night. Man, I miss those days sometimes.
Which one holds on longer? Faith Band is still playing on US radio stations Today! Bob &Tom still make it famous! It still doesn’t age, but climbs up the charts.
Glad to have stumbled onto this. I've still got the albums and reel to reels but no machines to play them on anymore. As I remember; Boys next door, Chosen Few, Limousine, Faith they went thru changes as we all do/did. At Ball State '71-'75 these guys were almost weekly regulars and I got to meet them numerous times but they'd probably not remember me. Another band named Peddler whose keyboardist was my roommate off campus, they were all friends/musicians, never really "made it" either but lots of talent. So many talented people that ended up in the same old "game" most do. Children need fed, homes, stability in addition to love and many sacrificed careers for family including myself, but I'd do it again. Luckily I was one of the first to get into midi, and being a music major wanting to learn how to write for full orchestra, by 1985 I had my orchestra at my fingertips, tho digitized. As it turns out it was what kept my alive, my "partner", after my young child was asleep in bed and I was a single parent. Just because it does not turn into a career, and you are not willing to submit to the "industry", does not give reason to stop creating/playing even when that audience is you. At least that audience knows the blood sweat and tears that it conveys. And that audience is who you look at in the mirror everyday. Have lost contact with all those old friends, in a way, but not in "other" ways that will last forever. I was actually looking for their song Freedom..raise your voice and sing, when this popped up too. Retired now, all I do is work to stop the same damn thieves my friends were attempting to battle in/with their music, but didn't have as much truth then about our "masters" as we do now and how they've stolen an entire world for themselves causing much suffering pain and death. The Rothschilds were not really a trending subject in the '70s, nor MKultra or secret societies. I'd forgotten someone had used Carl's work and made it more known in the later '70's, surely Carl got his "royalties"..........even that word/term really sucks, now. I've given my stuff(music) away and could care less about copyright. One band in sweden did ask me if they could use it and I said sure that's what its for....they won some talent show or something but I never heard their rendition, that was when dial up service took a half hour to download a 4min piece/song. Many changes but not the one that needs changed, who rules this earth by owning the money supply. This is crunch time and just about past the point of no return. Unfortunately a real revolution is not trending and we grandparents are the only ones left who can still remember what sovereignty was from our grandparents and greatgrandparents who actually shot their guns at the "revenuers" when they stepped foot on their property. Grandma could shoot as good as any man until her last few months of life, and did to keep the snakes from her bird feeders. Granted, a strange comment this is but instead of getting drunk in some bar and rambling with other old farts I choose this to encourage not only musicians but truth seekers to pick up their own ass and do what we didn't do, keep shooting at the revenuers/banksters. Grandma said "you really didn't have to hit em, they'd run once you made them start dancin". Time we got em to start dancin?............thanks Carl, again.
I never heard of the Faith Band. I never realized that there were 2 different versions of this song on the charts at the same time. I know the Nigel Olsson version and like it a lot. The Faith Band's version is just as good.
I personally know Carl and this version was far superior than the other. Carl is a very nice and wonderful person. I was first introduced to their music at a very young age by my uncle who took me to see them as I sat on one of their monitors and just listened to their music.
Loved this Version the best after I heard it , it is the true feeling of this great hit with me , I know I Get lost in the Melody . Great Job Carl & The Faith Band ❤️🎼❤️ Makes Me fall in Love all over Again ❤️🎼❤️
I was running with a card carrying tech man and a crazy little journalist back then - a rolling stone girl. If we weren't in some limo leaving the vogue we were coming home from kentucky or ohio in the back of the equipment truck. I long for those daze and wish I could remember more of them.
Was singing with Carl Storie and had no idea who he was. Long story short, a friend pulled out the album and played this. I remembered hearing this on the school bus in High School, and said; "Wow. He really is someone. I never knew that was him". Im betting he did well $$ from this song.
I swear. I tried to listen to that Nigel Olsson version. Way to pop sounding for me comparatively. I could see his version back in the day on KISS 99, but the Faith band version was strictly Q 95.....But then again I never listened to KISS 99......
+Lee Sharkitt - True, but I believe for marketing purposes, they are most always referred to as being from Indianapolis. Almost like the group "Wild Cherry" which is often referred to as being from Pittsburgh or even Cleveland (since that's where they recorded Play That Funky Music).....but actually, they were formed by Bob Parissi from Mingo Junction Ohio which is near Steubenville, Ohio. See how things can get misconstrued? Thanks for pointing it out, though.
I and my friend followed "Faith" and "Limousine" most cities, night clubs and shows (years) back in the day. Some of the best times in my life. Carl Story and the band where a great group of men. We followed then until they hit the billboards. Thank you all for the great memories especially T.Barns.(Rip) God bless you all.
@@abelincoln3287 I agree. Listening to this version for the first time. It's quite good too. It's one of those songs I think I would like many versions of. But I don't want to hear any covers of "American Pie" for example. Don't want to hear Madonna's version.
I live in Muncie Indiana and I had the awesome honor, and privilege of working on Carl stories lawn. Good man !!! Beautiful song.

That is an awesome story!
You got to put a movie out.
Saw Faith Band and Roadmaster in Wabash Indiana before they had any albums out. Both were fantastic!

Saw Faith Band MANY a times in Indy....FANTASTIC band!! This song brings back many a great memories!!! Love this song :)
I honestly like this version best. Lived in Indianapolis when it came out. Bought my copy of the album at Peaches Records. So happy to hear it again.
Wow.!!! I didn’t know about this band thanks alot because i love this song
A nice discovery - I have the Nigel Olsson single from the day but was unaware of this one. Nice - more country. Thanks fo rposting!

Wow-I can now remember hearing this song on the radio in Indy way back in ‘78.Thanks for the rewind mike!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful song thank you MIke for giving us this great recall.
A dear friend hug from Chile.
Thanks! I hope all is well there considering the earthquakes you've been having.
MusicMike's "Flashback Favorites"
11 years old.....couples only skate at the local rink with the most beautiful 14 year old I'd ever seen...man, what a great song 🎵
Always preferred this version of the song.
Every time I saw Carl playing live around Indy he would close his night with this song.
Carl's version is the best version, but Elton John's drummer recorded and made a big pile of money for Carl on the royalties...
WE're still listining Music Mike! Keep it going!
The first time I heard this song was back when it was included on the Bob and Tom: Twin Geeks disc they did. It just had a great sound to it.
I saw Carl Story and the faith Band in concert in Broad Ripple. It was a good night
I purchased Nigel's version. I now understand the wrong of my ways.
🤣
It takes a true music man to look beyond the so called and hit and spotlight the "Shoulda Been a Hit!"
Have talked to Carl Story and he very so much loved playing their music at the Barn at the fair grounds in Muncie, In
I have the album. Living in Bloomington, no better band to take a date to. Worked every time.
Then our job was done grasshopper!😁
How did Carl Storie not have a bigger career. He sounded amazingly like Don Henley.
Terry Knight
It's not always about talent. It's about who you know and who hears you sometimes. There are a lot of great musicians no one has heard of.
@@stevenabrams7355 Terry Knight ripped them off before they had a chance.
@@davanmani556 that's kind of my point, if they had a good producer things may have been different.

Wow, then you really missed out. Both versions are good, but Nigel's version is best
I didn't miss out on shit.
stay off the crack Abe
quite true. Still, could not care less about the other version.
What version do you think they're going to play on central Indiana radio stations?
I wasn't even aware there was another version until 2018
Man, both versions are nice. Love Nigel's, but this one's great too, with a bit smokier sound..
Carl has a fantastic voice.
Thank you for posting this
Was singing with Carl Storie and had no idea who he was.

Great song, Mike! I like this a LOT better than the Nigel Olsson version.
Carl has one of the greatest voices of rock n roll no matter where you go. He captured the essence of Steve Marriot and Otis Redding.
John Mellancamp is a big fan of Carl’s.
Don't forget his harmonica skills.
This song has a bit of 'The Eagles' feel to it.

I just added another song by Carl called "September Rain". It is an equally awesome song.
I was little when this came out, but I remember it....and the story behind it.
Being from Indianapolis, I never knew there was another version.......
That's too bad. You missed out on Nigel's version. While both are good, Nigel's is much better.
It all depends on mood. If you want the Action News format or Eyewitness Format concerning lyrics both are good.
Carl's version is the best version, but Elton John's drummer recorded and made a big pile of money for Carl on the royalties.
I saw Faith Band in Indy and LA
Should have been a soundtrack to Breaking Away. Love the chemistry between the dancers.
Ahhhhhh, the slow dance.
I never realized anyone other than Faith Band sang this song. I wonder why two different people released it when the Faith Band wrote it.
