Detroit, that's funny 😂 I lived in Michigan. My entire 60+ yrs, and still will go downtown for events. Being a died hard Detroit Lions Fan, Detroit Red Wings Fan. I lived in the city for about 10 years. It's a battlefield for sure. But, your friend is correct there are some very beautiful parts also. I knew people who lived in Detroit their whole lives, and when they were old, they still refused to move out. ❤

It’s funny how the parrable “to turn the other cheek” is misconstrued by pacifists. Jesus gives 3 sayings back to back that all mean relatively the same thing but we do not understand Roman Law of the time or Jewish Law. A master that struck his servant would do it with the back of their hand to demonstrate they were better than them. To turn the other cheek means, for that person to strike you again they would have to hit you as an equal. In fact, you were declaring yourself equal, and it was to their shame. If they then strike you and say they knocked a tooth out or hurt you you would be free according to the Law of Moses. (Exodus 21:27) Same goes for the saying “if somebody sues them give them your coat also”It wasn’t shameful for the one that is naked, the shame was on the one who uncovers their nakedness. (Leviticus 18) It was the one that was sued whose honor would be ruined. The last one was if someone forces you to take the pack and go a mile, take it two. That’s not what you think it means. Roman Law stated, that you could only force an underling to carry a burden for one mile it was actually unlawful to force someone to carry your load more than that and the one that made them do that could go to jail. They would be chasing you down the road screaming give me my pack back.
