- Sway in the Morning welcomed T-Pain early this morning to speak on a few things that reflect his music career now, and what he has in store for the world in the near future.
Even though Pain took a brief break from his music, he is back and in full effect. T-Pain spoke to Sway and the crew about why he took a break, working with Kanye on '808 and Heartbreaks', and how his eccentric style will differ from his past styles.
T-Pain also spoke to us about his new single "Up Down" Ft. BOB (Prod. Dj Mustard) and how he is working on his new album Stoicville: The Phoenix, which does not have a date, but did mention it will drop next year. Now even though Pain and Future aren't beefing, he did say he would collab, it just a matter of time.

I really respect T Pain. He really did make autotune popular. And you can tell it was a device to give him a sound cuz his singing at the end was great. He didn't need it.

honestly everyone thinks he made it popular and I won't deny that he did, but cher was the first singer to use it. That's why he says he would sing cher's song "do you believe in life after love" as it was one of the very first songs to implement autotune.

thank you. everybody thinks you can just sound like him with auto tune and this proves that is far from true. T-Pain actually uses auto tune as an effect and not as straight out correction. Thats why you hear chief keef and kanye use auto tune and it sounds nothing like t-pain

For the record Roger/Zapp Teddy Riley etc did NOT use autotune they used a machine called the Talk Box which changes the way your voice sounds on a song autotune was created in the late 90's it's a computer control device for pitch purposes & only suppose to be used here & there in a song when T-Pain started using it he played around with it then was amazed at how it sounded so he started to use it throughout the whole song notice in this interview he says "once you start using it you use it more & more" & Future's voice is deep & way more deeper than T-Pain but not grittier enough to do a record with out autotune because that's the sound he's going for so in his music it do seems like he uses too much autotune but it really don't!
I always said, nobody in the industry did Autotune better than T-Payne. He perfected it. Future and Rich Homie Quan shouldn't even be using autotune if they're not even going to try to sing.

I went to his concert a month ago in Atlanta. He used no auto tune at all. He can REALLY sing. I was impressed. It was a nice, small, concert. Other acts performed that he signed also. But T pain gave us our money worth!

Apparently you don't know what autotune is. His voice isn't altered in that song. It sounds just like the way he is singing in this video.
If you don't hear the auto-tune in the song you don't have a trained ear. It's slight, but it is there. And don't think I'm downplaying him by saying it. No doubt about it hes talented as fuck.

So glad that Sway and T-Pain pay tribute to Roger Trapman for being one of the first if not thee first to introduce autotune to R&B. I can't count how many times people have said that T-Pain was the guy who created or first used auto tune...............

T-Pain uses Auto tune precisely. He already sings pretty decent so I'm sure in studio he's really hitting the notes. The auto tune is only speeding up the process of the audio sticking to each note. These other artists overusing auto tune (Kanye, Future, Rich Homie, etc..) can't sing at all & you can hear the auto tune fluctuating all over the place trying to find which note they're going for.

I took my son when he was 10 to see Chris Brown and T-Pain for his first concert. We had tickets 10 seats back and Pain stole the show. I've been to many hiphop concerts and his show is in my top 3. He placed the bar very high for my son's future concerts.
