You got any links for that ball joint splitter set mate ? Made good progress on that 500 mate.. looks a lot better now with a bit of paint on them legs.
Fair play tackling it on the deck . Glad your taking care with the safety side of things too . Couple of little tips for you. Try the new centre plate on the clutch input shaft prior to fitting it also get a bit of sandpaper and scuff the flywheel surface , it helps the new plate to bed in (You may have done these off camera ) Looking good so far . That bearing sounded shot and the fingers on the pressure plate were showing a fair bit of wear. Always a sigh of relief when the box mates up with a few bolts holding it back in bud well done
Thanks Richard for the fantastic advice I cleaned the plate but didn't know about the sand paper will definitely do that next time. I really appreciate the support as always
You're having terrible luck with the cars you get , doing a fantastic job with them , and a big credit to you for the effort you put in 👍🏻, but damn some of the extra work you have to do, is very unfortunate to say the least.
Hi Big Man. That was a Time Consuming and Irritating couple of days you've had to go through to fit that clutch. You remind me of me when I was a lot lot younger. Doing DIY on my own and friends vehicles on the Road/Street. Hitting the same type of mechanical problems. (Not bodywork though). See you in the next one. 👍👍
You had it easy since you already had taken everything off the front. I really enjoyed watching you do it though. I have to do man and do it on my own You're so right about having some with you but no one is willing to stay unless you pay a mechanic then it will be not worth it for me,Hopefully, Ill be fine ,Thanks for the video
I’m only half way through as have to go to work now, but going by project rusty’s condition I would change the main metal water pipe too. They are prone to rust anyway and seeing as it’s all off for the sake of £20 ish I would change it.
Hour and half start to finish including fitting new clutch etc in a fiat 500/ford Ka.. The main shaft seals can go, and the boxes themselves are basically made from foil covered chocolate.. When doing the box and belt, it is easier to remove the whole front end tho..
I didn't catch the symptoms but one thing I think you missed with the clutch was the forks on the pressure plate. They were alot flatter than what my new LUK kit looks like. Apparently people leaving their foot on the clutch at lights and junctions etc flattens them out so the clutch won't fully release properly. And that bearing was toast. Unfortunately for me, I suspect I'll be doing the input bearing too 🙄
Hello, thanks for the video. I have Fiat Bravo 2 1.6 multijet 105hp. From 1-2 weeks I have an issue with the clutch - when I am going on first and reverse gear the car is vibrating and annoying rasping sound is heard on the front of the car. Sometimes I am not even able to shift the gears and when I turn off the car and pump the clutch and then the car start shifting and driving off without vibrations. Could it be a problem with the clutch release bearing? Or because of old brake fluid and air in the system? Thanks in advance!
screwfix own brand penetrating oil and wire brush the bolt threads before undoing bolts, youll find it helps. also buy your self a cold chisel set or go to the car boot and pick some up for pennys each. we all use screw drivers as pry bars and hammering on, just not to that extent haha, get your self a 1/2 inch long flex head ratchet aswell, £20 one will work fine if need be
Well done a horrible job to do but great work 👏 👍 ps. The wife has just got one a 12 plate and guess what a knacked box or thust bearing thankfully still under warranty 😊
12:50 Jesus Christ! Would you look at that jubilee clip. I recon even if you looked at it the wrong way it'd disintergrate 😆 I always use stainless, so you never have an dramas 😊 How come you didn't drown everything in WD? I'm currently doing the clutch on my bros KA n it made everything so much easier. The same happened to his as the clutch is fine but the thrust bearing was shagged. You don't need to take the upper control arms apart btw and on the right hand side, you can just leave everything alone. All you need to do is pop out the driveshaft from the gearbox using a prybar or a big chisel, as it's just held in place by a spring clip. As I just do hobby stuff, I bought a 5/6 pcs prybar set off eBay. Also, that oil filter removal tool you've just bought (as you'll soon find out) is pretty wank. The one I've got is the equivalent of a pair of vice grips n they work a treat as you can clamp on n just let go (It's the equivalent of getting your other half to give you a handjob/fingering). So that way, you don't have to worry about it slipping as it crimps itself into the metal. You also don't have to use load of crushing force so you can use that force to unscrew it. I'd definitely recommend them over anything else that's out there. The quick research I did was to watching pros/mechanics n see what they thought was the best and pretty much all of them recommended the vicegrip type 🙂 Going back to that sump plug removal tool. I bought a 5pcs double ender with the most common sizes. I'm pretty sure the fill is 17mm and the drain is 12mm. Maybe? 🤔 You could of left that left engine mountain bracket inplace and just undone the centre torx bolt which attaches to the gearbox mountain bracket.
Always impressed by your determination and effort, interesting viewing thanks for the entertainment.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for the support really appreciate it

It's good to see that Fiat have at last put their problems from the '70's behind them. 😂 Keep up the good work.
You're having terrible luck with the cars you get , doing a fantastic job with them , and a big credit to you for the effort you put in 👍🏻, but damn some of the extra work you have to do, is very unfortunate to say the least.
I totally agree sometimes you can't always buy quick flips. I probably won't buy anything over 7 years old from now on... thanks for the support buddy
I think you enjoyed that in a strange sort of way well done. 👍👍
I'm really enjoying working on this project & learning loads which is a bonus lol

Fair play. What a pain to do. Would be so much easier up on ramps.
I would love a ramp but it's all about the money 💰. I agree definitely not an easy fix but definitely doable... thanks for watching 👀 buddy
took me about a day and in all honesty it was about as rusty as yours. top job m8

Hello, Great Job. Did you remove the starter ? Not shown at the Video?
To be honest I can't remember but I think so, normally the starter motor goes into the bell housing so normally have to remove 🤔

Hi great video, keep them up, qq
What grease did you use (red)
Where did you buy the clutch kit from?
Thanks

I noticed that the transmission is leaking around the drain plug did you fix it? The reason I'm asking is I have the some problem
Well done! Awesome job! I was wondering how long roughly took you to do the whole job?
I honestly can't remember probably around 5 hours

Them bearings sounded gritty
45:15 you just needed to push the slave cylinder piston all the way back no need to take the box out XD
You live and learn thanks for the advice 👍
