Dominika: always remember that Nightwish (specifically Marko in this instance) never do screaming for the sake of it; it's there for a reason. Every little detail of every song is there for a reason. Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean is a classic example of screaming being there for a reason (where Marko plays the Devil). It's there to convey anger, evil or despair. I love watching your reactions to Nightwish.... the smile on your face is priceless. Love it

I've listened to the Buenos Aries version a few hundred times. My reasons however, are the drums. Kai is in my top 10.

I think I was exceptionally receptive to the meaning of the colors of this song today because it got me to tears.
That never happened to me with this song before, but then again....
there are changes happening and energies flowing.

As always, you two have such wonderful Nightwish reactions. This was an angry and hopeful song at the same time, beautifully done. You are totally right about Empuu (the guitarist) always bringing so much joy and emotion.
By the way, on Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to watch the live stream of Nightwish's hour-and-a-half performance before a crowd of 80,000+ at Hellfest in France. Finally, we have a challenger to the Wacken 2013 show. The show started at 8:20 p.m. in France. For those of you who missed it, here's the link to this professional video from the ARTEconcert. For me, nothing will ever challenge Wacken2013. Because that is the first thing I ever seen from Nightwish starting 2.5 years ago. Wacken2013 was a Nightwish concert, to me HellFest was a Floor Jansen spectacle, which she didn't disappoint. She is relentless in giving a balls to the Floor performance..LOL..Such stamina and a joy to watch.

Each song is like a roller coaster, never knowing witch way it will take you. Up down and all around, they are very good at taking you on a journey. Another great reaction.
Nightwish is like a box of assorted chocolates :) - every time is a different flavour....
Imagine the impact of this song next time you hear it... If the meaning is this: "I think the river is supposed to represent life, while the end of the river is death. The song seems to be about how you never know when your time will be up, so you should enjoy your ride down the river while you can, leaving a mark on every island along the way. This ties in nicely with 'Turn loose the mermaids." Amazing Tuomas masterpiece... Love from Timisoara !!!

When you have Marco doing that ‘grunge chant’ underneath it makes floor’s notes seem to soar into orbit.

Your comments at the end about Storytime and more Tarja songs, reminded me that Storytime is spiritual sequel to their version of the song "Walking in the air".
Very young Nightwish performance few decades ago, even before Marko joined the band.
It'll help to explain their popularity for so many years.
The way I interpret this song is Marko is the villan(angry aggressive) and Floor is the heroine(positive upbeat). If you watch the movie Imaginarium and then listen to the album Imaginarium it heavily influences the context of the songs lyrics. Storytime and Ghost River are both from this movie/album as well as many other great songs. Anette was the lead singer for Imaginarium.

Dominiqua it took me weeks to learn that tongue twisting chorus that Marko sings...its very satisfying when you can sing along!
From the Wacken show, and on Gabriel's list you will see Song Of Myself (inspired by rhe Walt Whitman poem)...its another great marriage of the voices. Now, on the album version, there is a multi-voiced spoken word poem at the end. There is a fan made video of this song w the Wacken performance and then the poem at the end. Its a tribute to the late Godmother of The Nightwish Army, as this was her favorite song. It's a very important part of your Nightwish journey, and I recommend reacting to that tribute video. Love your reactions!! You don't talk to much! We love to hear your thoughts!

Its the only one I can think of.

3. 7 Days to the Wolves from Wembley (a personal favourite of Floor).

This is definitely one of the great Nightwish songs but for some reason doesn’t have the exposure of the other popular Nightwish songs. It’s dark complex and just an awesome ride from start to finish. Great reaction you two 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Yes, this is one I recommend just as much as the 2013 Wachen GLS. This may be my favorite NW song. Can't say enough good about it, but like you said- it just doesn't get the love.
Marko can sing very sweetly also as in solo he did at Tampere, live called "The Islander". everybody fixates on Floor but he has a awesome range also of different singing techniques. a nice change of pace since a celtic seafaring song to me

Yes! Nightwish everyday! You will get no complaints from us😀 So many great songs for you to check out. If you want a beautiful journey through heartbreak and redemption then the “Poet and the Pendulum” is their best song. Such a beautiful journey and an unmatched musical masterpiece.
This was another great experience watching the two of you. Ghost River is pretty high up on my list of favorite Nightwish songs, and especially this Wacken performance. Marco and Floor are magical when they sing together and this song's impeccable structure creates several different 'modes' of interaction between them. There's a lot of fun packed into a fairly short song. By the way, did you catch Floor's growls? Thanks again for your reaction!

Nightwish Army UK popping in for a quick drink from the ghost river.
The "screaming" is a stylistic choice so therefore it's in this song for a reason. They want to convoy the emotions of the song by singing and that's why Floor and Marco use different kind of vocal types.
Just for your information - there are 3 new complete festival concerts on YT - Floor's solo on Pink Pop and Nightwish on Pink Pop (same day) from the Netherlands

Hellfest from from France last weekend. That 90 minutes show were on the same level as Wacken 2013!!! - Floor was in THAT MOOD - and then Nightwish becomes in a league of their own.

Everything Nightwish does is with a purpose. Marko has a beautiful soft FOLK voice too. He is screening because he is chasing the children away from the river. He warns them.

This an old Scandinavian spooky fairytale. We also know it in Holland, because we had Viking kings ruling the Netherlands in the old days.

About the song, Marko's voice always gives me goosebumps on this one, he sounds so sinister lol then Floor sounds all beautiful but also haunting, like she's as "evil" as he is, and wants people to cross the river just to drown, so they would have another ghost, but towards the end is like a third entity enters the room, a protective one "never loose your heart and do come across" as long as you keep your good nature, and don't let the "evil" taint it, one will be able to cross it without any danger (that's just my opinion here lol i could be completely wrong)
I love the way you say "Marko". Reminds me of the great actress Maria Uspenskaya.
Ghost River has a different feel to it. It's very different from most other things they've made, but on the other hand, it's like that with most of their music :-)
Empuu (lead guitar) is sort of the prankster of the group. During recording sessions, he likes to mess with equipment settings when others are not watching. Switch off Floor's mic so when she starts to sing she is singing into a dead mic. But Floor gets him back. Empuu often drinks Corona beer when performing on stage... Empuu also hates apple juice... So, Floor has someone switch out his beer with apple juice, so he gets a big surprise when he goes over and takes a big drink from his beer bottle and gets a mouth full apple juice instead.
