Kriega gear is awesome and I have the same SW-Motech setup on my STR. I use the stock pillion seat when I have the Kriega bag strapped in place, and switch to the cowl when I don't so as not to scratch it. Cool video!
Yeah I switch the seat/rear cowl too when strapping anything to it, helps to have flat surface too. Kriega is solid quality and also waterproof (not the cheapest) but I didnt want the thing to drop to bits during a camp or even worse, when riding buying a cheaper copy. the STR is an awesome alrounder, thanks for watching,
Great video and nice motorcycle too. :) Ride safe!
Thank you, not sure I'll ever part this bike but that's what everyone says at one time or another!! :-)
The protection film for the saddle bags are crucial to prevent the paint from getting scrubbed off, there is a reason they include it when selling them - had to learn it the hard way.
When riding for for several days and maybe in rain check the film, at one time my bags tore through the film because of all that dirt from the rain.
Agree with your comment, the clear film is essential. I put this on right from the start but also added some 3M foam tape to the top corner of the saddle bags that limits where the bags can contact the paint and this has worked really well. Not even marked the clear film - this includes in rain.
@MonkeywoodGarage do you know if you can fit the kriega us-40 bag (no saddle bags) without it having contact with the plastics?
I'm thinking about getting the us-30 for my street but I am unsure if it will fit or I should go with the us-20 instead.
@@Nekromongas I am obsessed with protecting my bike and keeping it immaculate. The hooks under the seat are lifted away from the paint when you tighten the straps. I also put a microfibre cloth between the bag and seat for a little extra protection. Failing that, you can also put clear film under where the traps rest. So far zero negative affects!
@@MonkeywoodGarage perfect, that's what I wanted to read. Thought the bag might sag a bit after mouting and then touching the fairings. Time to start looking for a Kriega bag ;)
@Nekromongas Be mindful how you pack, i put the bigger longer items on the bottom and smaller stuff on the top. This will help prevent any sagging too. But when you pack it up, be sure to tighten all the straps and clips and it keeps it solid shape too.
Thank you for posting this, I've been torn between these saddle bags and a luggage rack on the back. These look way better and don't affect the way the bike looks!
I can't recommend these saddle bags enough - they are semi rigid and the water proof inner bags do actually work! Thanks for watching.
Are you going to show all the stuff setup, maybe a recorded camp trip?
That's the plan - just waiting for the frost and ice to clear up!!
Thanks for the video. Quick question, do you use a tail tidy and if so do saddlebags foul the indicators? Seen a couple of reports online of people running into this issue.
@alex22806 I have the Evotech tail tidy and they work fine. Toward the end of the video I show the rear of the bike. You can just see the space between the indicators and the bags. Thanks for watching!
I did consider the SW-Motech bags, but in the end got the Hepco and Becker cbow system as although you have pannier scaffolding, it keeps things from rubbing on the bikes panels? That was my concern, have you had issues with it rubbing at all?
@NatsWright I looked at those too but went for these. I've put 3m foam on the inner part of the bags and some clear film on the paint. Had these packed to the brim and not causes any issues so far!
I'm after a tank bag like this one - is there other attachments that go on the tank for other bikes?
Check the SW Motech website, they offer the tank rings/fitting kits for all kinds of models/bikes, thanks for watching.
