  • A Chapter from our movie "Espee Hall of Fame" on branch lines rarely viewed!
Visit classic "Espee" locations that were in and around CA in the early 1990s. See Elvas and Stockton Junction with the towers that have long ago been removed.
Watch hours of great, original Southern Pacific power that has been sent to the scrap yard since this material was shot. Learn much of the history of the SP and the area involved in this video.
The emphasis here is on manifest trains, transfer jobs and locals. We bring the kind of railroading that has been forgotten.
See Davis and Suisun-Fairfield Junction and many trains on the Ione branch. Don't miss the sugar beets to Woodland, California. This video took years to shoot with nearly every scene in blue skies and with the sun's light on the right side of the train.
The trains shown have been selected with care to tell a story and portray how things once were. After watching this video, you should have a better understanding of what happened to the "Espee" - and why it happened. See Roseville's original hump yard in action and the parade of trains through Roseville, Antelope and out to the East Valley line, lower Donner Pass and much more.

I find these places off the main , intriguing. I guess long gone by now.

The line to Ione is still used regularly for a granual plant. The firebrick & lumbe4 mill are gone. Amador Central does trail bike tours.

It was nice to see them dropping off on Sidings for Refills and picking up full ones and then back to the main line 😊

Very nice to see this, Charles. It's just left to imagination now that Amador Central no longer runs trains.
Would you happen tho have caught any action on the Valley Springs line? I believe last train was around 1989-90....

That California Traction was definitely not a Rock island Geep- they did not have oscillating headlights

That is what the crew told us. We were guests on a "shoot" there and they were very accommodating.

The roster lists loco 1795 as ex ROCK ISLAND 1349, if that was the loco you were talking about.

CCT 1790 was originally CRI&P 1343. Turns out CCT moved the stock headlight & applied the gyra light after buying it from the Rock.

1:25 Galt was named for John Galt.
    But… Who is John Galt?
