I feel like the pitch of the first wail and the first yelp that you played on this siren is absolutely perfect, not too high-pitched and not too low-pitched.
U can change or program the different tones assigned to the selector knob by inserting an object such as a pencil or tiny screwdriver into a little hole slot on the rear of the unit located next to the wiring harness plug. It's very simple. There's something like 10-12 or more different tone variations which can be selected simply by tapping the little tab inside that hole next to the plugin. You can get the fast yelp, lower pitch yelp, Powercall yelp, numerous Wail sounds, Phazer, Low horn-High Horn, sounds similar to the old Federal PA20 sirens of the 1960's-'80's often heard back then etc, etc...You can program whatever sound combo desired and assign it to the Selector knob positions on front. Also the Manual Button on front panel can access/change sounds of course. Hope this answers any questions on programming/accessing various sounds. I'm not a spokesperson for Whelen, I just own this unit. Love it!
@ProudVolunteer19 You will have to go in and do T1, T2, and T3 separately, it only functions for the siren tone that it is on, so you can be on T1, and hit manual which changes to a second T1 tone, and press the button on the back to change the second T1 tone.....
Question for you...we've got these on a couple of our new trucks. If you leave it on T1 and press the button on the back to change it, does it only change the sound of T1, or does it change the sounds of T1, 2, and 3? Or do you need to select T1, choose a tone, then set it to T2 and choose a tone, or what? Thanks
I'm just curious would I b able to put that same siren on my 4 wheeler or lawnmower I know it sounds crazy but this year in our Christmas parade I get to drive ither a 4 wheeler or lawn mower and I want a siren on it let me know if its safe to use it on one
@FirefighterEmt4Life Thanks for the reply!! after I wrote the question, I saw this in other video.. This option there is also in sirens like code 3 or federal and another?
Whelens seem to be popular. Carson's manual tones sound better; they are still electronic tones but they are high-pitched enough for us to hear. All in all give me the Eagle or Super Chief anyday!
I wish Whelen would have kept this mechanical tone, I like it better. The new Whelen mechanical tone is not as high pitched and doesn't sound that good to me. I have a New Whelen epsilon. I have videos of it on my channel, you should check them out.
The Whelen HF set is EXACTLY what our local force use here in the UK. Sounds fantastic.
man I love that wail tone at 4:00

I don’t think it sounds the best I like the high pitched wail
i need this in my life
@Eone405G Thanks, all it is in the back is a little push button you press with a fine pointed object when the siren is on, and it changes the tone!

Can you connect this to your horn switch? If so, does it act exactly like the manual button or is it the airhorn tone?

I agree.. I'm extremely disappointed with the new mechanical tone and the ALT wail.

Can you make the tones from HF the tones for T1-3? Your current tones are garbage, only the HF tones were good.
Good
