This was better and more explanatory than other videos. The overall process assuming you have the right tools is 15 minutes. The dealership quoted me $900 for the total replacement. This was super unfair. I just bought the assmebly for $265. I was able to reuse the cover I had. Only note I have is: open the window ALL the way down. So you can hold the mirror with your other hand if needed. If you don’t open all the way down then the glass will get in the way of the screws. Also as mentioned be very careful about not droping the screws inside. When puttintg it all back, I had trouble with fitting the little panel behind the door handle. It required a bit excessive force and push. The white and green wires for the window buttons: White is above green. (In case you got confused when putting it back)
This was the perfect guide. Literally followed it step by step and had my new mirror fully swapped in 45 minutes and I'm no mechanic. Thanks for your resource!
@@antoniohernandez6010 I just went to a nearby O'Reilly Auto Parts store and ordered it through there. I just walked in and told them my model and trim and they found ordered the correct mirror. This is a fantastic instructional video, the best most straightforward I’ve found. I cracked my RH mirror backing out of the garage, I think you’ve given me the confidence to take this on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Cheers
Great video, man. I'm a actual Toyota tech working on this this exact same job today and found this video to be WAY more helpful than our workshop manual is, haha! Thanks for making my job just a touch easier!
Thanks for the video. I didn't have a magnetic socket, so before the step at the four-minute mark to remove the three 10mm nuts, I covered the door well opening with duct tape to serve as a life net in case I dropped one of the nuts.
I just need to replace the cover of my LH mirror and was about to remove the entire mirror until I watched minute 5:53, thanks man, this is very helpful 😁😁😆
What a great piece of video instruction! Many thanks. Just replaced the drivers door mirror assembly on my 2020 Rav4 Hybrid Excel without any problems and saved at least £120 Toyota dealer fitting charge. Bought the mirror unit online from Wingmirrorman based in Bury, UK who also painted the cover to match, all for around 20% of the Toyota original parts. All mirror functions working perfectly after less than an hour of work, worth taking it slowly and carefully. Thanks again.
Extremely helpful. Figured it out after watching it step by step. All of the small tips regarding the clips on the covers really made it easy. Thank you!
This video is a perfect guide. Straight to the point with more than enough details. I have a 2018 Rav4 Hybrid. While my door panel looks a bit different, the process presented is the video is the same and was very helpful.
Excellent ! ! ! video walking through the process to replace a RAV4 side view mirror. The plastic auto trim removal tools are essential for making this much quicker/easier and reduce the risk of damaging any trim parts or their mounting clips. I followed these steps as given and start to finish this took about 1 hour to complete without any mishaps.
This video made the install so easy, thank you! For others doing this, I have a 2020 rav4 XLE hybrid with the weather package. The 8 pin spieg mirror linked in the comments seems to work just fine for me (so far!) Blind spot light, turn signal lamp, power mirror, all seems to function normally. YMMV?

Hey great video. I'm looking to fix the vibrating mirror issue that most people have on their 2019-2021. Some people said the TSB didn't solve the issue. Do you think just installing an aftermarket will solve the issue?
Question for you. I have a 2020 LE, and the replacement mirror I bought is for the XLE. How hard is it to upgrade the wiring so I can have the indicator and sensor connected?
That is something I am not sure of. I would imagine the wires harness to the mirror ( from the car) would lack the additional wires it would need for the extra functions. I may be wrong though, I never tried to do that. Google would have better answers then me on that subject. Let me know if you find out . Thank you for the comment and support and Superchat. It helps me make more vids and keeps me going. Thank you
Hi! I replaced the mirror following your video, but after replacement, the door window stopped opening all the way down. I tried to do reset, and it didn’t solve the issue. Do you know what can it be?
Hey I have the same issue. Apparently there was a TSB for it. The problem is the sidewall isn't strong enough so the service bulletin called to reinforce the sidewall and use longer bolts. Some people said it didn't help. I'm going to try using aftermarket mirrors to see if it solves the issue.
I plugged everything in but how do I reset the mirror so the blind spot gets picked up? Is there something I have to do with the interior controls to reset? The mirror won't move when I hit the buttons
Hmm to my knowledge it should just work. I really don't know. I'm considering only recommending the OEM MIRROR ASSEMBLY now. it seems like the aftermarket ones are either mislabeled or have issues with plug & play
Hello, I took it to the dealership to replace for me and they fixed it but there is a message saying blind mirror malfunction, I let them know and they got me back in waiting and they told me that I need the real Toyota part.
