This guy had all odds stacked against him in life. Born near blind at birth, abandoned by his mother. Raised in poverty, had his remaining vision literally slapped out of him by worker at a blind orpanage when a teen. Went on to marry a gorgeous woman, have a family. Here in 2024! One of the all-time best, and absolute proof that people can overcome and succeed beyond measure. He's such a rare talent! No auto-tune here, people.
September 23, 2024... I came here to reminisce Ronnie Millsap songs from when I was 19. I'm 62 now and I'm not even a country music fan, but I remember how his voice and his songs grabbed my heart when I was young. They still do.
“I’ll be the dream that keeps you awake” that’s called a nightmare. This guy is just a blind pimp, but it’s a fantastic song.😂😂😂 I’m listening September 30, 2024…so I must be a real OG. Just like Ronnie.
Thanks from an Older Trucker who lives in TN. I just love Smoky Mountains and the song for sure. All of Millsap songs are super. Native American eastern TN Line. It always takes me back to the hills to listen to Ronnie.
Married in ‘79, divorced in ‘82, ran into him at a country dance club a few months later. He requested this song and literally pulled me onto the dance floor. He sang every word while staring into my eyes. He walked me back to my table and whispered into my ear “There ain’t no getting over me.” Then he left and the next time I saw him was 16 years later just a few months before the cancer took him. I’ve had the thought every day of my life since that he was right…I’ve never gotten over him. 😢
Being a radio DJ at a classic country station (Northstar Country 105.9) is where I fell in love with Ronnie's music. There's simply no parallel to the musicianship, the creativity, the raw talent and the image.
Love this music! My love of my life left me. We worked together. And had a great relationship. For many years. She is married now and I am hurting and alone. She is happy now. I was good friends with Ronnie's cousin.
Ronnie is what you call a Star, a man born to be a performer and I believe he had the best voice in music. FORTY number one HITS and he was able to sing well into his 60's and still sound great. I miss Ronnie's fantastic performances but fortunately we still have him with us. I was deeply saddened to hear his dear wife Joyce has passed, that must have been so difficult for him. I'm sorry for your loss Ronnie, love ya Ronnie!!
Well I'm an African American male and I heard this song and I feel in love with it. My mom heard me listening to it and she said, "Wow I use to sing this when I was pregnant with you" and I was like, "So that's why I know the song" Like I knew some of the words off back

You are a special empath and an amazing emotional being. I used to here this when I was a young fella !
It would've been so cool to have heard Elvis cover this song! I'm a big fan! ML&R to Ronnie!!👌💯💯
Love his songs…..what a mellow, easy listening voice!😮
