WOW. I have lived in Cambodia for twelve years { Aussie from Sydney} This is an excellent run down on ,not only SR,but all over this fantastic country. To any tourists watching this, please, please dont be a tight tourist, dont haggle over 50 cents or a buck. These Cambodians are brilliant people, most are dirt poor,so the .50 cents youre saving, will buy a meal for a Cambodian.
I am SO glad I came across your video! I have wanted to visit the temple complex for years and I think I might pull the trigger this year. I was feeling very anxious about the culture shock and the ins-and-outs of visiting Cambodia, but you have eased my mind and made me even more excited to go. Thank you so much!
Don't worry in the slightest about differences in culture when visiting Cambodia!!! Khmer people are kind, funny, helpful and very smart! They will look after you very well! I made friends in Cambodia that I still speak to on social media 😊 Enjoy the temples! It's a once in a lifetime experience you will never forget!!!! So happy you like the channel! 🥰
You need to go! Now! Seriously, Siem Reap is the most wonderful place to visit. All the info in this video is invaluable for 1st timers. If you get the chance, also visit S21 Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields in Phnom Pehn. Will break your heart.
I watched a lot of videos about Cambodia and It saddens me that people in Thailand or Vietnam always discourage tourists from ever visiting Cambodia. Always focusing on negative aspects and most of the time people really do avoid the country without ever giving it a chance since most people tend to visit Thailand or Vietnam first. Petty crimes are just as prevalent in Cambodia as in any other south East Asian countries. thank you for what you are doing! I hope more people get to know more of this small country.
Khmer people buy a lot if thing from Thailand and Vietnam but they alway talk shit about Cambodia. Khmer people would never do that and we dont have too. Thai and vietnam took khmer land and they still more. They never want to see cambodia is improving. Vietnam alway give a hard time to khmer people live in south vietnam the original khmer land and they force women to married vietnam. And lot lot thing to talk about this
Don’t get angry with people who don’t have a lot of money. That’s so true. Don’t make it a big deal. They need to make a living, too. Thanks for understanding
Another tip, if you want smaller denomination USD notes most of the ATMs will only dish out $100 bills. The only exception as far as I'm aware, is Sathaphana Bank who issue KHR (of course) and USD in 10, 20, 50 and 100 denominations.
Omg so much fun looks like. It such a dreamy nature to be around in Cambodia. Thank you so much for sharing. How amazing you could speak Khmer language 😊❤
Im retiring to Cambodia from Brisbane next week. Thank you both so much for the most informative, no nonsense, real Travel Tips I've ever seen on You Tube. Thank you once again. ❤
This is my plan too. I’m currently in the US and it seems like the country just keeps going downhill. Cost of living including grocery and housing prices, violent crimes with guns, and robberies, drug problems in major cities, are increasing by the day - and the political and government itself seems to be failing. I have about 7-10 more years before planning to retired and Cambodia so far is where I’m looking into.
Love this video! Great information for 1st timers looking to visit Siem Reap. We know the tuk-tuk driver at the end in the light green polo. His name is Sovanna, goes by Charlie. A good friend of ours.
I love watching your Cambodia travel series… been binge watching all.. I love how you try everything, really engulf yourself into the Cambodian Culture and foods…I’m enjoying it very much..

Excellent informative video! Q1: do you ever wonder about the hygiene issues with food being cooked and consumed in such an dusty/dirty location (vehicle exhaust etc)? Thank you!!! So happy you enjoyed it 😁👍 Q1: The last food poisoning we had in Cambodia was about 8 years ago and that was because we were silly. Where you eat is seldom dusty or dirty and the ingredients are usually very clean and fresh. There may not be as much refrigeration but the food is bought, grown and eaten very fresh. People shop and cook daily. I'm sure some people get sick but I seldom here about it as an issue. Local street food is not for everyone. There are so many VERY clean restaurants everywhere. Cleaner than Australia in most cases. Even if you were the most cautious traveler you would be fine Q2: We wouldn't give advise on health insurance because it really depends on your individual circumstances. We are only traveling not living so it is different in that we can get the best travel insurance at a very reasonable price. To have money in the bank is fine if you need medical attention in a low cost country like Cambodia but if you had to be air lifted to Bangkok or Singapore that money could disappear very quickly. It all depends on your priorities, the risk you are prepared to take and your bank balance 😁 That's my 2cents😊 Thank you again! 😊😊😊😊

Hi Debbie and Tim, love your vlogs and the detailed information. Do you guys carry your passports with you all the time or are there times you leave them at your hotel room?. Thanks in advance.
Hello! 😁We leave them in the safe in the hotel room. Often the safe is not bolted down and any staff member could reset the code but it has never happened to us in all our years of travelling. We always have photos of all our travel documents on one email (including travel insurance, visa, contact numbers of people back home, hotels we've booked, flights, etc , so that is everything got stolen we could still access the photos through a hotel computer or someone's phone. Also have the details, of the Australian embassy in what ever country you are traveling in, on that email so that if you ever found yourself in a sticky situation it is less stressful to deal with. If you feel comfortable doing so put a credit card on the grab taxi app. That way you can get in a Grab and go anywhere without cash. Saying all of that it has never been an issue for us but we prepare for the worst and hope for the best 😁👍Have a great trip! You will love it!
