D.O's voice is the thing that brought me into Kpop about 4 years ago and he is still my ultimate bias to this day. He has my absolute favorite voice of the Kpop idol community and I'm so grateful for this video (the Open Arms cover) for bringing me into the spiral that is Kpop.
avin casimero that happened to me lol.. i never liked kpop, ah no i am not actually into those kpop idols. but when i watch d.o in one kdrama, he got me, i search more about him. i found out that he's in a group then i i tried watching one of their song, and now i became a fan lol!!
Also, some people hate on kpop because of the trainee system... and maybe it's just me personally, but that just endears these groups to me more. They had a dream, and even as kids they were serious enough to know the value of preparing for that dream (just like you said at the end). That's some maturity - to go in there of your own will and sometimes with your parents against it and just do it everyday even when you have school and other life responsibilities.
I really liked this reaction, and I think I could find interesting EXO songs like: for life, baby dont cry, drop that, promise, miracles in december, sing for you, universe or some of their songs from the new album "dont mess up my tempo "
EXO were 12 members 8 Korean and 4 Chinese > 6 of them were in EXO_K were they sing only Korean language and the other 6 members were in EXO_M were they sing in Mandarin only ...Unfortunately 3 Chinese members left the group, ( So from 2014 until now we have only one group which is EXO with 9 members and they sing Chinese, Korean, and Japanese ).. they also have EXO_CBX and it’s a subunit from EXO....it has 3 members from the OT9 ....and the Only Chinese member left in EXO has solo albums and the last album that released in October was in English 😍

This performance always reminds me why I got into them in the first place and also why I stayed as a fan. I love that they can do lots of things. Like, they can belt the high notes but also do falsetto. Then they can do the runs, the riffs, embellish and then as a group they blend really well. I know people say being able to sing well doesn't matter now because of pitch correction (I swear, I've heard that a lot) but I feel like a singer would still be limited if they don't develop their skills. Like, if I were a singer (lol I don't want to negatively describe any real singer) I wouldn't be given Beyonce songs even if pitch can be corrected and sound can be edited simply because I wouldn't even get through the recording haha. I love EXO's discography and it is such a great mix of different styles and genres, they go soft and they go hard, and I know that one of the things I can thank for that is their skills.
@heechulliebabo I haven't heard that comment about pitch correction, but that won't help much in live concerts - that's where the training proves itself - and artists who can't deliver in concert get found out fast. For example, the recent BTS concert in LA - one critic wrote they performed after no concerts in many months as if they had been performing every night through the whole pandemic.

I've been an EXO-L since predebut, I've been with them since the first day and I love to share as many information as I can for new people that are interested in EXO. I've made a guide to EXO for new EXO-Ls but my Google account won't share it for some reason so I'll just say the basic information first and with new videos, I'll try to inform you as much as I can :) Exo is a South Korean-Chinese boy group based in Seoul formed by SM Entertainment in 2011, the group debuted in 2012 with 12 members divided into 2 subgroups - EXO-K with 6 Korean members (Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai and Sehun) performing songs in Korean and performing mainly in Korea and EXO-M with 4 Chinese members (Kris, Luhan, Lay and Tao) and 2 Korean members (Xiumin and Chen) performing the same songs in Mandarin Chinese and promoting mainly in China. OT12 mean “one true” 12 members, OT9 means 9 current members and OT8 means 8 current members without Lay.
Lay wasn't able to participate in any EXO activities since late 2016 because of the ongoing ban and political issues between China and Korea. He's still part of EXO and always will be (they all constantly prove their love for each other and the fans) but he's a really famous celebrity in China, he's Youth ambassador, has many endorsements, is one of the most successful Chinese citizens (if not the most successful) and if he'd gone back to Korea during this ban to promote with EXO they'd call him a traitor and he couldn't go back to his country so he's in a very complicated situation rn. In the past 2 years he developed his own solo carrier and is currently promoting his 3rd solo album Namanana is the U.S. And for the other 3 Chinese members (Kris, Luhan, and Tao) they left because of constant health issues and poor unfair treatment. SM is unfortunately known for their artists' poor treatment and health problems, it's almost impossible to debut under SM and if you do it's even harder because you have to keep up with enormous expectations because of their previous legendary artists. We still support and love them so much. They are all very successful Chinese solo artists now. EXO has 3 main vocalists: D.O (or Kyungsoo - his real name) - he's is one of the most agile vocalists in Kpop, he can do speedy runs without much affort, without loss of speed or precision. He's known for his soulful Rn'B voice (the most colorful voice in EXO), his soft gentel vocals and exceptional runs. Baekhyun - he has the best mixed voice in EXO, he's the best when it comes to fifth octave and he can produce connected head voice, his falseto is also the best in EXO, he tends to get the most high notes in EXO's songs but is not as famous for them as Chen is. Chen - he has the best overall vocal technique in EXO and he has the most developed lower register of all 3rd generation kpop artists (personal opinion), he has exceptionally big range, he is the most known for his high notes altough he has better middle register than upper but has higher pitched voice so it seems like he can do higher notes than the two. In this video, you've seen only 4 of the members (in order - D.O, Luhan, Chen, Baekhyun). EXO are mostly known for their vocals and breath-taking high-tech-quality live performances, even though I don't think I'm really qualified for judging them because I'm not a vocal teacher or anything, but I've been studying music (singing/dancing) for all of my life so my personal opinion is that they are the best vocal group of the third generation of Kpop, their 3 main vocalists are always praised by other artists from the industry and they have a really good technique. Their agency SM Entertainment specialize on vocals, dancing and visuals. The founder of SM Lee Soo Man invented kpop as the industry, he was the one that came up with the idea of producing artists, he started it all, he invented the positions in the groups like vocalist/dancer/rapper etc. All of SM artists are top-tier vocalists and dancers, that's what they are trained for, Kyuhyun is actually the best vocalist in Korea (personal opinion) and he's from SM and they have the best dancers too, commonly praised by Korean celebs and artists. EXO are commonly knlown as vocal group because all of the members are very skilled vocalists (even their rappers are great vocalists because they were all firstly trained to be vocalists). SM's vocal teachers are believed to be the best in the industry, that's why SM artists are so good. Also this clip is from 2013 and they were not 16 or 17 (they look so young tho) but 20-23. They are now from 24-28.

I know I’m going to get a lot of attacks for this but there clearly missing something in their vocal abilities: they need a bass singer. They’re all tenors and just having them sing in the same key feels like there’s something missing. You need a bass to fill out and support the sound and that is something that they’re lacking. I also find that when they’re singing the chorus part it sounds as though they’ve got reverb put into their microphone so that they can stay in tune. Lastly, I find that they’re not putting any legato into their singing either and it sounds like that they’re constricting their voice.
