Yer me too👍☺
Would like to see them without lens covers 😍

I bet Alan has twisted and tweaked them so they fit nicely.

Is she Alan wife? She very hot😍👉👌

She's damn exploited too. But she seems damn tough enough to put up with it, so that's fine. Frankly, the LED headlights part was damn interesting, so I don't give a damn.
Stunning, she is simply stunning!
Bang tidy lol
using led bulbs in a vectra for over 1 year now, definitely worth getting and you will never have to change them

Are you using the same Led lights?
Me 3! I Used LEDs but not Auxbeam in my Golf Mk4 with aftermarket dip projector for a very long time and it’s the way to go! I didn’t have any problems being pulled over! It also passed the MOT without any problems with the tester but they are not allowed to pull the cover off and check the bulb whatever it’s E marked or what bulb it uses
I saw your video and I bought these LED HEADLIGHTS and they are SUPER KOOL.. AWESOME. Just got them delivered last week and fitted them thiz MONDAY and I am so very happy. Finally kool HEADLIGHTS. I can use them during the day too and no one has flashed me yet. keep doing Ya Thing.👍✌
thats good news, they worked well for me too, cheers
@@alan4x yeah CHEERS its all good.
Thankyou for sharing this Alan. It has to be said, the ellipsoid H7 headlights on the mk5 Mondeo are shite. By the time you see something, you're practically on top of it.
The standard mondeo LED headlights are great, well worth having if they are an optional extra on your fleet of lowest spec ones !
I think they only become available at titanium spec.
Only on small cost on spec around £1000 ;-)
@@mariuskub Ford standard LED lights are the full set including the expensive day running light :)

I’ve got the S3 Auxbeams in a Projector . Haven’t been blinding any drivers . That can be fixed by re-aiming your headlights . There amazing !! Nice Ford “ Fusion “ Oh and Monica is very beautiful !! 🇨🇦
Mr. Worf what do you mean by aiming
David Pickering I mean if they seem to blind on coming drivers , you may need to aim them down a bit .
Mr. Worf just the normal in car electric adjustment then I thought you meant some sort of special setting up in a garage
Why did you go with the S3 and not the S2?
@@coolissimo69 Thought they’d be a bit brighter.
Give them time -that make might be different but usually with LEDs the actual bulbs last but the control gear often burns out, then they start flickering etc..then you wish you hadn't bothered
Hey Alan. Love your style of presenting. I have watched loads of your content now and my Mk4 Mondeo and me thank you. Monica and yourself make a great team. Best regards...

OMG I love leggings and Monika
Just replied to a comment but with the rain cap on the back of the headlight blocking off fresh air from getting in, then even with the fan going there's isn't going to be very good active cooling for the LED it'll just end of recirculating the hot sit inside the headlight...
I was saying that I wonder if cars witted with LED Headlights from the factory have some means of mitigating this?
I love led lamps, unless I going against them, and they do no favours for sensitive eyes.....
I remember when you said about the drivers complaining about the lack of light at from the mk5 bulbs great fix only time will tell if they last
Tv show is the future for alan videos,😉
lol
Great video Alan. Can you tell me if any errors came up on the dash with the lights just being plug & play ? And would you recommend Auxbeam if I were to change all the lights on the front of the car to LED ?
did you change to led lights?
I love your videos Alan but from my research into fitting led bulbs there not road legal they would effect your car insurance etc. there only legal if fitted from the factory hence the option when buying a new car
I was going to get a Mondeo MK5 with the Ford Dynamic LED but it's a non-serviceable unit and to replace is £1k.
Hi can you help me as I have a mk4 ford mondeo 2010 and I have tried to up grade to a led front head lights but I keep getting a low beam worning
So they have a cooling fan, but it's behind the headlight cover? How does that work? surely the small area in between will get hot then the fan will circulate hot air?
These things are not really going to last 50,000 hours. The weak point is the fan, the heat is going to kill it pretty quickly, and that's assuming it's not a crappy Chinese design. There's not nearly enough heatsinking on that to control the heat without a fan going at full tilt, even my LED torch shuts down after a few minutes. There is also an electronic circuit to regulate the current, again a point of failure. The LEDs are branded ones though.
Although having sat on the motorway in front on some chav with these eyeball-burners fitted, there is no end of annoying things I won't do to piss the owner off. It's a bit like owning a BMW, it's the mark of Cain.
Im concerned over the fact that the waterproof cap at the back of the headlight prevents any new air from entering the headlight, so even with the fan circulating it will eventually reach a point where it can't properly cool the bulbs. It's a good point that I don't know if any of the cars fitted with OEM Led Headlights have something to mitigate against this...
Will be interested to see how close to 50k hrs they get especially with those fans.
I'd like to see a car that lasts 50000 hours.
Can you give a update on the led headlight video. How you fare with the mot and how long they last.and any errors thanks.
Are they MOT friendly?
Last year they changed the rules and the bulbs should match the headlamp unit, made HID kits a fail in most cases.
Yeah I'm not sure whether these are legal, think you have to have the projector lens which it has and a washer which I didn't see plus the beam pattern.
yes hid kits which replace halogen standard fitments are a failure but you can only fail a led if more than half the led is inoperative so it is fine to replace halogen bulbs with led conversion kits
What about the washer jets and automatic self levelling as i have read that either hid or led must have at the very least the automatic self levelling. Hid must have both washer jets and automatic self levelling.
Alan Howatt thanks for clarifying, I didn’t know how it worked with LED just knew they made a deal out of the HId bulbs needing a matched HID unit so mismatched bulb and unit like HId bulb in halogen unit became a fail.
hi, in the case of led or hid... self levelling and cleaning devises are only testable and must be working if fitted
Great review and it's the same with the MK4, the halogens are awful. Decided to go with Xenon, changing next weekend. No more being blind as a bat in night driving 😂😂
😊
they look very expensive but they dont list a bulb set for my ford fiesta 2001 model unfortunately
Hi Alan thanks for the beautiful videos that you make I would like to know if after 2 years what feedback you can give me about the LED lights did the fan worked as should or the heat did deform the headlight? I would like to upgrade mk5 to a better lighting got only the standard halogen headlights 0(
Thanks for your help
the bulbs in that video are still working ok but they are in my vito van so no complaints with them...only thing is in the uk the mot test laws have changed making aftermarket led bulbs an mot failure

Thanks for your quick reply and for your videos wishing you a Merry Christmas
Did fitting the led bulbs cause any error symbols or messages on the dash? Recently bought a mk5 mondeo, standard halogen bulbs are not the best. Was looking to change all the bulbs in the headlight unit to halogen.
I came here to ask that same question
Nice alternative to the Xenon HID lamps that you can order the car with when you buy it. They are expected to last only 2500hrs or so
The MK5 cannot be specified with HID lamps, it's a choice between halogen or bi-LED.
You'll probably find a few years down the line that the reflectors in the projectors are toast. The cool white LEDs have a high spectral peak in the UV and deep blue area which degrades plastic. They'll never last their 10000+ hour lifetime either unfortunately, the capacitors in the driver electronics normally have a 2000 to 5000h rated lifetime.
you are the man for the technical advise, yes everything has a trade off but people will buy them anyway because they are brighter...time will tell i guess, thanks
5000 hours is quite a long time. If on average you spend 2 hours daily drive, it is probably going to be during the day, when you are running the DRLs. Can't really comment on the UV, but the intensity of the sunlight is 1000x more than this 30W bulb. Also, the LED SPD starts where UV ends so not sure about the degrading. All the LEDs are equipped with poly optics and not a single problem. The difficulty with LED is that they degrade over time so it is going to be hard to say if they are still good. It is non-sense to purchase 4500lm bulb, when a standard 55W halogen is 700lm. More lumens means more power thus more heat. So bulb designed for 4500lm with detuned power supply to half the power will greatly increase the lifespan of the bulb and it may not be required to use a fan. Of course, many Chinese 4500lm bulb might in reality be 1000lm. So need to be proved by a certificate or at least measurement protocol. The LED chips in that bulb also must be branded (Cree, Osram, etc.).
It is also important to note that the "blue" light makes it easier for us "to see" - this is how the eye works (without much theory). On the negative side, blue light attracts insects - so the insects will be killed and the whole front of the car will be much dirtier with LED (or Xenon) than halogen.
There are "warm white" LEDs which are 10-15% less efficient than the "cool white" LEDs which are often used with colour temperature 5000K-6500K.
Warm white LEDs typ. 2700K or 3000K would be better. As they have less "blue" in their spectrum and appear like halogen, making less damage to not only insects but also our eyes - at night. Simply because "blue" is the domain of sun and for the thousands of years of evolution, we did not know the blue light at night.
@@alan4x Hi Alan....I really need to know is will these lights pass the MOT? Also, what is the name of the equivalent light for the high beam, and would it pass MOT?

Existing halogen headlamp units shouldn’t be converted to be used with HID bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.
there is no requirement to fail led bulbs on an mot test as long as the headlamp beam image and light intensity is good
@@alan4x Very informative, many thanks Alan :-)
Alan the biggest problem with LED “no name” quality is bad, back fan sometimes cutch the fire on long working time and on the normal headlights unit (non projectors) is completely no beam pattern! with H7, ok you pay less but if something happens with your headlights you pay fortune;-)
Anyway only two company in Europe worth to instal Philips and Osram nice beam pattern and electrical safe with the warranty. This is my opinion on years practically and research on internet Regards To you and Monica ;-)
hi, thanks for the comment, these are branded and come highly recommended, for the lower end of the price scale they are bright with a better beam image than the standard halogen bulbs, 30 day money back guarantee and one year warranty, best regards to you as well
Alan Howatt
Hi Alan, another great video as usual from you and always a welcome addition to see Monica !
I have also seen Twenty20 led bulbs, similar to the ones you fitted.
I have seen them on www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk and they have a compact pair for £39.99 with a 3 year guarantee !
Unfortunately they did not fit in my 2012 Ford Galaxy but they have another pair at £65 (on offer from the usual £95) which have a small additional control box but which look relatively easy to fit.
I am just deciding whether or not to get them as they are a bit more expensive but they are also 200% brighter, have the correct beam pattern so will not blind oncoming drivers and have that 3 year warranty with free returns if they go faulty.
I think I might have talked myself into buying them 😃
I think the philips led ones look perfect but £160 is a bit more than these.
I've fitted a set of these to 2015 Mk5 Estate, here are my comments & findings:
As bright as a set of hId's I has on a MK3 Mondeo.
Had issued with fitting the bulbs but manage to do it. In use quick to come on but they do have a good beam cut off, with these you can make it out.
For the cost, just slightly more than a set of standard Halogen H7 from a well know high street reseller.
As for fitting not bad, but having to more or less to remove the bumper is a joke (what was Ford at the time ?) I just wish there was a set for the main high beam, but having the DRL's with the mains, I will have to stick with what's there.
I ordered from the web site and had them just over a week later.
All functions of the headlight are not affected by the bulbs, so high adjustment is fine, no fault lights in the dash.
Ask me is 6 months time for an update then.
I changed my DRL/High bulbs for LED from autobeam, but they don't do any LEDs for the dipped beams so i'm glad Alan showed these off, now awaiting for mine to be delivered from Auxbeam.
Update: Arrived and fitted today, took the car out for a test run in the dark and they're a big improvement over the old halogens! No errors and fit just like the video shows you. Cheers Alan. Now for the fogs!
Update: Still going strong, and still good light output, been the best buy for the car. Still have the fogs & main beams to sort out.
@@madone007 How are they doing now?

Alan, can you please confirm what are the led bulp part numbers. E.g H7, H11 etc.
Alan love the video's just had a MK4 now I've just purchased a MK5, How are these LEDs holding up still no problems? Cheers.
Hi Alan. Is there any reason why you only changed the dipped beam headlights. Why not the main beam at the same time?
The main beam is a very odd twin filaments H15 19/60w also does the drl light. Not sure how good the after market is for these.
Becouse of this video i have changed mine normal bulbs to LED.
The mk5 headlights are really bad the led units on the titanium are fantastic. The headlights are to small to make effective use of a halogen lamp. The reflectors are just physically to small. If you take a 7" round headlight unit and a 5 1/4" unit with the same bulb the difference is massive.
thats a very good prognosis
Chris Hart mk 5 I've bought
It's still in. Northern Ireland
Is Tinnian eddition but it's got normal H sevens??
How are those bulbs holding up Alan? Had any issues yet? I've got the standard halogens in mine and they are awful.

PS my experience is that most led,s don't evel last half as much as regular bulbs, but only time will tell
Hi Alan, are these legal and would they get through mot if tester knew that they had been retro fitted.
yes they are mot legal..i have checked
I thought they had to be E-marked to be road legal? They can still pass the beam pattern at mot with the projectors focusing the light but for accidents and insurance purposes i understand they have to be E-marked?
Great video as always, but these fancy headlights are great until you are driving towards them. Then they're not so good, the bloody things blind you.
I installed the H7s for my high beam and it seems like they are pointing way too high. I’ve taken them out, readjusted, ensured the cap does not touch the bulb and everything seems fine. Not sure what my issue is
Hey Allen.. just got a mk5 and my local garage who I’ve used for years are very loathed to touch the mk5 to change the lights ( I’ve bought led,s )

they used to be legal in the uk as for an mot test when this video was made but the mot criteria has since changed and now they technically won't pass an mot test but you could just swap them for halogen bulbs for the test and then refit them

You do know that fitting these in any headlight unit with a H7 fitment is illegal in the UK and an MOT Failure, whether they have a projector lens or reflector..... i dont think i need to link the VOSA regulation....You should know this
I had a pair of H7 LED bulbs in aftermarket projector lenses including the high beam and it passed 2 MOTs and never had trouble with the tester, never had trouble being pulled over. Just because you’re saying it’s illegal doesn’t mean we must only use halogen bulbs for legal reasons….

Hi there I have led bulbs in my car. But getting the error code coming up. What canbus resistor do you recommend?
The facelift vauxhall insignia halogen headlight bulbs are exactly the same as the mondeo, useless, i nearly knocked a guy down on a country road, i simply could not see him until i was right on him, i decided then and there to change my headlight bulbs. I decided to try LEDs looked on Amazon, for the right type, 9012 was the type, then to make sure they would fit inside the headlight housing with the back cover fitted, as some of them are too big, as in too long to fit snugly. I found one described as mini, which was a perfect fit. Winpower was the brand, and as the insignia uses the same bulb for high and low beam, the cost was not that much. The difference is out of this world, no flashing from oncoming traffic, so the beam is spot on, and they light up the whole road, i now feel safe driving on unlit country roads again, plus, the insignias bulbs are alot easier to change, plenty of room to get your hand in behind the headlight housing. Why modern cars seem to lack in the headlight department is beyond me, as in too dim.
Alan do you do any videos on fog light resetting on mk4.5 mondeo. I had fog bulb drivers front go. I changed the bulb only for no power there. Ive been told I have to take it to ford and pay for the canbus to be reset . Your know any different
Hi, are canbus ? what are others led references for front mondeo mk5 headlitghs H11, w5w , H15 ?
I hate led lights, they're the work of the devil. Even on low beam they dazzle. The old fashion lights worked perfectly well so long as every one had them. But now people are moving to led's I'm going to have get some just so I can see where I'm going when someone with led's drives towards me. Bollox!!!!!! Rant over, great vid Alan.
lol, i liked that rant..i have similar rants myself
It's true when the other headlights are brighter you can't see your own headlights on the road anymore. It's really pointless we may as well go back too sealed beam. If it's a pitch black lane you would just use main beam anyway. It's either we all have bright lights or know body has them.
Don't know how these super bright led lights have passed safety regulations. They dazzle oncoming traffic. Personally I put my high beams on so as to see past the dazzle as your driving into blackspots at the side of the vehicle. They ticked the options list when they bought, leased the damn thing. Super bright headlamps? Great for you not everyone else. And don't get me started on fcuk wits who drive with front fog lights on all the time.
@@johngreen7786 a lot of the high end models have the led headlights as standard. This is more likely than box ticking. I'm not sure how they past safety regs either. They are a big selling point it seems. If there ever coming over a hill and your outside the dark cut off point you are absolutely blinded and just hope you don't crash. Remember it does not matter where you look these lights are 300% brighter they even make your brain pulse with you eyes shut. These are bad times for driving at night.
Chris Hart try driving a Bora,a candle would be brighter than the headlights and full beam, and that’s with higher watt bulbs installed with new clear plastic outer covers
Any update on how long they lasted some people saying the fans will burn out soon ?
Hi mate, I have Lexus IS 300h 2014 can you advise any led headlights for my car?

I know what my 3 wishes would be with Monica :-)
To play with her bulbs is one.
Not sure it's road legal. The mot test could be interesting
I see they work in a mk5 Mondeo, but would they also work in a mk4 Mondeo with AFS headlights? Would there be any issues with the convers+ system too?
not sure without trying first but i don't see any reason for not working, although afs headlights normally have led or hid fitted rather than halogen
@@alan4x Thanks Alan. My AFS headlight came fitted with regular halogen bulbs, but i suppose for the price, theres no reason not to try these bulbs!

How was it?
Hi! some of them bulbs without cooler, did they good?
Just bought a mk5 mondeo and was wondering how these leds are doing 4 years on?
the led bulbs do pretty well and light the road much better than the standard halogen bulbs but the main problem is the mot laws in the uk have changed since this video was made and would now fail an mot test. it is not however a police offence so if you wanted to fit led bulbs just fit them after your annual mot test
Been looking for some LED bulbs for my Renault kadjar but Auxbeam don't supply them. Do you know anyone else who may have them?
Built for it.
Unfortunately they dont fit on my 2012 Mondeo buisness edition
no they dont fit mk4 mondeo headlamps
Alan, how do you think these would compare to the standard Ford projector HIDs fitted in the Mk4.5 (2013) Mondeo? Many thanks!
i think the hids would be slightly better but they cost a lot more to replace
Just a quick question matey, I want to install LEDs on my car, but I've read it's a MOT failure. I've got projectors, will I be ok to install them or don't bother at all?
when i made this video it was ok to have led bulbs installed, now the mot law has changed and its not ok but its up to you, if it were me i would fit them after the mot test but technically an mot tester is not allowed to remove any covers to inspect the bulbs and if the beam pattern is correct and predominately white light there is no reason why a tester could fail them.
hi did you ever get any problems with the wattages as the mk5 is 55w and the ones you fitted looked like 75w will this not over load the wires
no actually they are 36W, however is 72W if you add 32W + 32W .
Them Mondeo headlights aren’t very good over the years anyway. LED is the way to go if you have projectors!😅
