this scene does a pretty good job replicating what heroin feels like (or in this case morphine) when you are addicted to it. the warm colors, the soft backup vocals from the chorus of the nurses, Max’s facial expressions. and of course the song itself is also very evocative of the same thing. it’s very well executed

I had my first acid trip watching this movie, and this is the scene when i realized i was actually tripping. Hard to believe this actually lasted 3 and a half minutes. Amazing experience that everybody should make at least once in a lifetime, really mind opening and soul awakening.

Psilocybin has been far more fascinating for me...one such experience was the single most interesting, awe-inspiring, meaningful, profound experience of my entire life. As for this movie, I watched it with a bunch of friends. We made pot brownies for the occasion....which was the first time I'd ever eaten marijuana. It takes awhile for edible marijuana to get you high....and I remember the scene when I noticed I was very VERY high. It was the "Because" scene where they're laying in the field. That was one of the most poignant and beautiful moments of my entire life. It was like the entire universe was holding it's breath....beauty was seething out of every pore of existence. I'll agree with you....such experiences are very important, and anyone who's never had such an experience...I feel profoundly sorry for them. They're missing out and don't even know it.
So in the creative meetings for this segment, the director and his men were thinking about how to visually transmit the sensation of heroin on screen, and one guy said... How about we have 5 Salmas in the video dancing and dressed as nurses? They paused for a few seconds, pondered and went... Yeah. Okay.

Great Movie and a great part of it, this whole movie is really crying out to be turned into a stage musical, it'd take a bit of work to stage however could be done in a long run scenerio.
I assisted as the door for a West Coast Swing teacher for several years with the primary role of signing the students/attendees in and taking the money and making change. One of her rules of sexy moves was to move one thing at a time. Every single placement of the hand, or move, is a thing of itself. I have used this routine to confirm what she was teaching. As I was sitting there through her ladies' styling classes, I quickly realized that having a guy sitting there watching the class might not be cool, so I learned to bring something to work on, to pretend I wasn't listening but still hearing what she was teaching (and to jump in when she needed a dance dummy). Being a software engineer, I once brought in a work assignment that required a lot of intricate attention to bit-fiddling involved in converting from one floating-point protocol to another. One single slip, one single mistake, one single misplaced bit, and you failed completely. I worked through the entire conversion routines and everything worked perfectly.
