    volume 2 begins.
i want to take a sort of more ambiguous storytelling direction with the project this time, using the music to loosely tell a story, but still leave a lot to interpretation.
as i explore this vast, clustered forest, a beautiful, angelic light fills the night sky - its majesty coats the world in a plethora of different colours, some not even seen before or thought possible. yet as it passes in a matter of minutes and the world returns to bleak darkness, a faint sense of danger lingers on the horizon - i'm not the only one out here, am i?

oh man this is done really well! mystifying, and chilling feel to it. The instruments and sounds really fits the frozen, icy environment, and the long 'notes' fit with how auroras stretch across the sky... I love it! looking forward to more of volume 2 :)

    over half a year...
you could at least have mentioned it properly, you know community tab can easily be missed it so make a video like he did, with only text if needed, instead of leaving me to find out through comments...
    --------------- EDIT ----------------
im so tired of things happening and never speaking about them, how is a casual supposed to react? the only thing i saw was you making 3 songs, and then quit saying these last 5 or 2 years have been a ride, like, WDYM?????? am i supposed to go search "CDMusic calamity drama" on youtube to try find out what happened? its frustrating not knowing the story so i can at least let go of the hype i got since the first song of the boss rush peacefully
Anyway, if you'd like to talk about it a bit, could be helpful, or dont idk, sounds like you had a bad time, Which i stil cant even imagine what it could possibly be, isnt working on a ost for a mod just making the song, getting everyone on the team to agree its good and that's it? how do problems that can be "detrimental to my health" happen????? enlighten my ignorance please, like seriously do it, i got no idea

    • @CDMusicYT
      @CDMusicYT  Год назад +1

making music for something as popular and highly regarded as calamity is far more challenging than anyone would usually think it would be, especially when you're essentially living in the shadow of a giant constantly.
when you also have thousands of eyes silently watching you can't help but have at least some pressure on yourself when making something like the calamity ost, its a genuinely stressful process when you have people expecting only the best from you - couple that with inner dev drama that just continued to escalate until it boiled over last december didn't help me either. i didn't want to disappoint the community, but also wanted to preserve my already deteriorating mental health - which is because of reasons i'd rather not discuss publicly due to privacy reasons. put all that together and you have a recipe for disaster.
my reasoning for disliking the modding community extends far further back as well, the ancients awakened mod turmoil back in 2020 already had a negative impact on my stance regarding terraria modding as a whole, and for more dev drama to happen in calamity when i thought i'd found somewhere better only made me feel worse about it all; any sane person would want to get out of there if it got too bad, and that's exactly what happened.
i would discuss it more openly in videos and such, but there's the fact i hate reading scripts (and am just bad at it), can't keep the subject coherent for more than 30 seconds and me being paranoid about the chance that i'll come across as some sort of crybaby.
idk what else to say really, sorry for being so vague about things.

@@CDMusicYT I might be able to, I've done a couple resource packs with music.
If you wanna know how it works, the game has a bunch of different music events that trigger depending on where you are, and each one has its own list of tracks it can play. Some are biome/dimension specific, some are general (like game, which is used in most overworld biomes that don't have their own event), and some are special (like dragon and credits, which have dedicated tracks).
      The 24 events (as of 1.19) are: creative, credits, dragon, end, game (used for most normal gameplay), menu, basalt_deltas, crimson_forest, nether_wastes, soul_sand_valley, warped_forest, deep_dark, dripstone_caves, frozen_peaks, grove, jagged_peaks, jungle_and_forest, lush_caves, meadow, old_growth_taiga, snowy_slopes, stony_peaks, swamp, and under_water. And then there's all the music discs.
You can edit each event's track list with a json file, and/or replace the existing music the typical resource pack way. Editing the lists with a json would let you put specific tracks for each event. For example, you could set Aurora, Cooldown, and the base game's Wet Hands as the tracks that play for snowy_slopes. Or add Beyond alongside the base game's The End (which I tested and got to work).
I could probably do it/help with it if someone hasn't already, but you or someone more musically inclined than me would have to determine what songs would go well with what event. And whether you'd want to fully replace the music in game, or just add to it.
Anyways, love your music man! Aurora's one of my favorites from Cubic Vol 1 :)
